“Wanda stayed with him and his family for the weekend, and we had a wonderful experience! She came home happy and clearly very well cared for. He also sent us updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. We highly recommend him and will definitely contact him again whenever we need a sitter and he is available!”

“10/10: Cindy took great care of my dog and sent frequent updates. She was also so good to adjust when my flight got delayed and I couldn’t pick up my dog at the expected time. I would definitely book with her again in the future.”

“Jessica was the perfect fit for my two babies. The minute the got out of the car they were exploring. Tails up! She has a wonderful space for animals to run and play outside and plenty of room inside as well. Her home is clean and inviting. She sent frequent updates and pictures. It was evident my doggies had a blast. I'm very thankful to have found her. I would give her 10 🌟 She's above and beyond a great sitter 🙌”

“Linda is the best! This is the second time we board our dog with her and let me tell you, Hades loves her!!! She is loving, and takes good care of our dog. Not to mention she gives us daily updates. Hades is always happy when he stays with her. We definitely will keep choosing her for our little guy.”

“Jaclyn took great care of our Coco and made sure to send pictures throughout the day so we knew he was ok. He even made a furry friend during his stay. We are grateful to have found someone who can provide a happy place for our fur baby to stay when we are away for long periods.”

“If you're ever looking for a place for your fur kids to stay while you go out of town, I highly recommend Laura. I have 2 neurotic cats; 1 has CH that does not like getting confined in crates/small place and the other is spicy/moody. The stay was short with a (somewhat) unusual request, but Laura took them all in stride and went the extra mile to look after Sam and Cloud. Definitely one of my best rover experience and would not hesitate to ask her again in the future.”

“I cannot thank Michelle and her family enough for watching Bella multiple times! Michelle is great with sending pictures, and keeping me updated as to how she is doing, Of course Bella loves to cuddle with the entire family as well. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!”

“Yogi enjoyed his stay. I like that there are options. Dogs can stay in the house. But if they are more comfortable outside, she has a deck with access to a fenced in grass area. Good communication. No problems.”

About: I cared for my family dog for 12 years until she passed, as well as cared for my family and friends furry animals over the years. I’m currently working full time. During the week, I can be available before 8:00am, afternoons, and after 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Weekend schedule is flexible. I’ll make sure they are safe at all times, and well taken care of. Take them on walks, feed them if needed, and play of course!

“We highly recommend Chris and plan on using him again for years to come. This was the first time our 2 year old shih tzu had been away from home but Pepper felt immediately at home. We got daily pictures and Pepper went on lots of fun walks in different parks. Chris had also made a window perch for Pepper so he could also look out the window. Chris works from home and only takes one dog at a time so Pepper had lots of attention. Chris was responsive to our questions and followed our instructions.”

“I had an excellent experience with Katherine! She truly went above and beyond in taking care of my dog. Katherine kept me updated with pictures and messages, which gave me peace of mind. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving dog boarder!”

“Arlene is awesome!!! I live between San Francisco and New Bern, and I occasionally need dog care / boarding. I will always reach out to Arlene. She's a beautiful person and she takes such good care of the doggies!!!!!”

“Chantal was great to help us out when options where running out to watch Waylon. Chantal sent us pictures of Waylon daily having a good time with her dog and a kids pool. During our time out of state we had no stress/concerns on Waylon's care. We will definitely ask Chantal to care for Waylon in the future. 5 stars for Chantal. Jason & Paula”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Siler home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Siler.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Siler sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
