About: I have been cat and dog sitting for my family since I was able to be left alone in a house and have grown up around dogs and cats. I now currently watch my family’s pets for them as well as have my own dog and cats. I can come in at most 5 times a day to check on your pet or I can walk your dog throughout the day. I have a flexible schedule so I can be free frequently throughout the day. I have tons of experience with many different types of dogs from small dogs to larger dogs. I will ask questions if I need to but am very familiar with pet care.

“Dawn does a fantastic job with the dogs. Zoe is a rescue dog and she had some troubles in the past getting along with other dogs. Dawn spent some time with Zoe, introducing her to her dogs individually until Zoe felt comfortable. Zoe ended up having a wonderful time and enjoys playing with other dogs. Such a relief! Dawn also takes time to take pictures and sends them to me with a note giving an update to how Zoe's doing. I will continue to bring Zoe to Dawn's.”

“Our son was getting married in upstate NY so we needed a sitter for our dog Kai while we were away. We have always left Kai with either family or friends, but since everyone we knew was attending the wedding I reached out to Laura. We set up a meet and greet -I knew from the first time I met her that she was a perfect match. She was warm and kind - obviously a dog lover - and she made a connection with our normally shy dog right away. She asked a lot of questions about Kai's habits - she wanted to make sure she followed his normal daily routine so that he would be comfortable in her home.. Her house is beautiful and she has a large, fenced in back yard that allowed Kai to run free in a safe environment. Laura took him for a 3 mile daily walk, and sent many pictures and updates the whole 6 days she had him. He became a part of her family❤️ I cannot say enough about how happy we were to have found her. She gave us peace of mind that Kai was well loved and cared for so we were able to enjoy the wedding without any worries. I would HIGHLY recommend Laura to anyone looking for a sitter!!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs but have experience with both dogs and cats. I have always had a natural love for animals. I’m caring, patient, responsible, and treat every pet as if they were my own. I enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality, whether they love to play, go for walks, cuddle, or simply relax by my side. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. 🐾 I work remotely, so pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m able to give pets plenty of attention and companionship throughout the day, including taking them outside, going for walks, playing, and giving them lots of love and cuddles. I enjoy having animals around while I work and am happy to make sure they feel comfortable, loved, and cared for. I like to keep things as comfortable and familiar as possible for each pet. I’ll follow their usual routines and any instructions you provide, while paying attention to their personality and individual needs. Whether they’re energetic, shy, or more laid-back, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable and have a positive experience while you’re away.

About: Born and raised in a family of passionate pet sitters, I've honed my skills in dog sitting from an early age. With a background of caring for Newfoundlands, cats, and my own furry friend, I bring a wealth of experience and genuine love for animals to every pet sitting assignment. From leisurely strolls to cozy cuddle sessions, I prioritize the happiness and well-being of every dog in my care. I have a flexible schedule, especially during the summer when I’m off from teaching and available full-time for pet care. During the school year, I’m available mornings, midafternoons, evenings, and weekends, allowing me to provide dependable and consistent care whenever needed. As a pet sitter, I prioritize creating a comfortable and safe environment for the animals in my care. I ensure they receive personalized attention and follow any specific instructions provided by the client regarding feeding schedules, medication, exercise routines, and any other special needs. I maintain open communication with the client, providing regular updates and photos to offer peace of mind while they're away. Additionally, I'm attentive to the home's security and cleanliness, respecting the client's space as if it were my own.

About: I’ve had 8 dogs over the past 30 years, so caring for dogs has always been a big part of my life. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs through every stage, from energetic puppies to seniors who need a little extra patience and attention. I’m comfortable with dogs with a wide range of personalities, routines, and care needs, including feeding schedules, medications, exercise needs, and senior care. I understand that every dog is different, and I’m happy to follow the routine that works best for yours. Most importantly, I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care. My goal is to make your dog feel safe, comfortable, and loved and give you peace of mind while you’re away. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give your dog(s) plenty of attention and keep their routine as consistent as possible. Whether I’m caring for your dog in my home, staying in yours, stopping by for a visit, or taking them for a walk, I’ll do my best to follow the schedule they’re already comfortable with. I’m available for weekday and weekend care and can often accommodate morning, daytime, and evening needs. For boarding and house sitting, I’ll make sure we discuss your dog’s normal routine ahead of time — including meals, walks, potty breaks, medications, bedtime, and any special needs, so their days feel as familiar as possible while you’re away. Your dog’s safety and comfort will always come first. Before caring for a new dog, I like to learn as much as I can about their personality, routine, health needs, temperament, and any behaviors or situations I should be aware of. I’m also happy to do a meet-and-greet beforehand so both you and your dog can feel comfortable. I’m comfortable with everything from energetic puppies to senior dogs who may need a slower pace, medication, more frequent potty breaks, or extra attention. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, keep your dog’s environment safe and secure, and never force an interaction or activity they aren’t comfortable with. When your dog is staying with me, I want them to feel like they’re at home, not at a kennel. I also know how reassuring it is to see that your dog is happy while you’re away. I’ll stay in touch with regular updates and photos, and I’ll always reach out if I have a question or notice anything unusual. My goal is simple: you should feel completely comfortable knowing your dog is safe, cared for, and getting plenty of attention.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their West Mystic home-away-from-home, packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your West Mystic.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your West Mystic sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
