“Martie was amazing! It was our first time being away so long and having someone house sit and care for our elderly dog and energetic cat. We received so many pictures, and so many good ones! She put our mind at ease. And she was so responsive with communication. Should we need this service again there is no doubt we would want her!”

“Mary did a great job caring for our dogs while we were out of town. We will definitely be using her again and appreciate her help especially at last minute. Thank you Mary!!”

“It was wonderful to have Erika watch Rusty in our home. Very good communication and Rusty loved her. Would definitely recommend! She even went above and beyond to ensure our two rabbits were comfortable and taken care of!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better house and dog sitter! She took wonderful care of our three dogs over the past four days, and we returned home to happy, well-loved pups and a house in perfect condition. She was highly communicative throughout our time away, providing updates that gave us complete peace of mind. She handled a few unexpected challenges with professionalism and ease, which truly speaks to her reliability and dedication. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. I can’t say enough great things about her—she was absolutely fabulous! We would trust her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a dependable and compassionate sitter.”

“Kyle was fantastic with our two larger dogs and our aloof cat! He was super responsive and kept us in the loop on the happenings around our house while he house/petsat the weekend. Would definitely rebook him again!”

“Raelee is amazing, my pups absolutely adore her. She was extremely attentive and caring. I will absolutely be booking her for every and all future trips we take. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone that is needing any care for their fur babies.”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs my entire life. My family frequently took in rescue pitbulls, so from a young age I learned how to train even the most stubborn animals. I began pet sitting for family/friends as a teenager. Many of the animals I took care of during this time were seniors, so I got quite a bit of experience in senior dog care. During college, I brought home a very energetic and very stubborn Cane Corso. I hired a professional trainer and learned many important tips on top of my already existing knowledge about dog training, which came in handy when I got a second corso. Throughout my life I’ve gained experience training puppies, taking care of senior pets, and caring for pets with diabetes and other chronic conditions. I’m currently PRN at my other job, so I can work my other job completely around the needs of your pet and what they’ll need while in my care. I have a fenced in yard and two bigger pups that are incredibly friendly and love having new dogs to play with. I also have a two year old daughter who is obsessed with animals, so needless to say your pet will not be spared any attention while in our home. Even if you’re not looking to board your pup, I have full availability to take care of your pet in the comfort of their own environment, and am willing to stop by as often as needed to make sure your pup gets all the care and attention needed while you’re away.
“Tiffany was the perfect sitter for our boy Frankie! She provided excellent care for him while we were out of town over Christmas. She was attentive to all his needs- including giving medication he needed for an ear infection that popped up right before we left town. Tiffany offered to meet Frankie and I before we left town which was super sweet and helpful so Frankie had familiarity with her before we left town. Tiffany stayed in our home with him and sent me daily updates and pictures. She also took him on walks and played with him in the back yard! The updates she provided let me know she spent good quality time with him and that made me feel super comfortable while we were away. I will definitely use Tiffany again in the future and would recommend her to anyone. So thankful that we found her!”

“Conner was a great sitter. He took good care of our "Piper". He had to deal with Piper's anxiety and resource guarding issues, so big kiddos for that. Conner also communicated well while we were out of town. We would definitely use him again.”

About: I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats who need a little extra attention. Through caring for my own pets and pet sitting for family over the years, I’ve gained experience following feeding schedules, administering medications when needed, monitoring behavior for any changes, and making sure pets stay comfortable and stress-free in their own homes. I understand that every pet has different needs, whether that’s caring for a playful kitten, giving extra patience to a shy cat, or keeping an active dog on their normal routine. I’m attentive, dependable, and committed to following your pet’s care instructions so they receive the same love, patience, and quality of care they’re used to while you’re away. I’m committed to being as flexible as possible for you and your pets. My schedule allows me to be available seven days a week, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Whether you need a last-minute visit, regular drop-ins, overnight care, or extended pet sitting, I’m happy to accommodate your needs whenever possible. You can count on me to provide reliable, dependable care and keep your pets happy, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I live in an apartment along side my two cat companions. There is always room for more to stay, as well as a dog area at my complex.
About: Please claim a a spot for the holidays early :) I have 2 years of dedicated pet care experience looking after a variety of breeds. I focus on creating a safe, fun, and stress-free environment for your pets while you are away. I love providing long walks, plenty of playtime, and lots of individual attention. Because I dedicate myself to pet care full-time, my schedule is completely open and flexible. I am fully available for overnight boarding, weekend stays, and daytime visits, ensuring I can perfectly match your pet's normal daily schedule. I love taking care of animals, and nothing is more important to me than making sure every single pet feels loved and safe. I have a secure fenced yard for outdoor playtime and can easily take your pet on long walks if needed. For pets who aren't well with other pets, I will make sure to reserve those days for ONLY that pet. Every animal deserves to be comfortable. I only accept pets that are friendly and comfortable around other dogs during bookings that require more than one pet. NOTE: For safety reasons, I cannot accept pets that are aggressive or lash out at people. Safety is my top priority, and I reserve the right to decline bookings if a pet is not a good fit.

“WOW, Mary was a Fantastic Pet sitter for our 2 fun loving Doggies! She did wonderfully watching them in our home. Mary took our younger Poodle Mix on longer walks, while adjusting as needed for our mid aged Terrior mix -Andy. Mary reported frequently w/Pics and obvious to see our Pups loved her. We Strongly recommend Mary, & look forward to using her Again!! Mary’s very responsible & has a great sense of humor. 👍🏼😊”

About: I’ve also had guinea pigs and rabbits and birds and goats. I love all animals and am happy to care for them no matter what shape or size. They all deserve love and attention and as long as I have solid instructions then I got it covered and they’ll feel like they’re my own babies. I’m currently unemployed. I’m getting certified to sell insurance and am home. I have two children in pre school and elementary school and the extra money would help a lot in this transitional period. I can happily come to your home and give your animals all the love they need. I’m in an apartment so coming to my home isn’t available currently but I can do check-ins or extended stays at your home depending on what you need.

I do live in an apartment, however they have a fenced in dog area. I’m willing to travel to your house or they’re definitely welcome in mine!
About: I have a lot of hands on experience with a variety of breeds and temperaments from my family and various jobs. Every dog is different and deserves to be treated as so with a great amount of patience and care. I’ve had a lot of time spent with senior animals who require more patience and attention in their day to day care. I do work a full time job but have a flexible schedule for mornings, evenings, and nights. I can have a very structured schedule so fitting any form of pet care will be a quick and easy adjustment. I follow any instructions or tips regarding your pet. Not only does it keep your fur baby safe, but gives safety for me as well. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wellington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wellington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wellington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
