Lauren and her family are the best! Our pup is loved on, taken on a ton of walks and adventures and comes back tired and happy!! We had a little bit of a longer day with flights back, and they were flexible with pick up times and sent cute pictures along the way as well :)

Stephanie is now Rigby and Ellie’s other mother and their son Colton is now their brother. I knew from our first phone call that Stephanie was the best sitter I’d spoken to in years. She took away every fear I had and turned it into excitement for our babies to spend time in her home. The photos and videos she sent us affirmed we made the right choice. So much love and care was given to our babies. When we went to pick them up, it was the first time ever that they kept going to the sitter to get loved on before leaving. They’re usually beyond ready to go home with us. They were sad to leave. Stephanie’s husband Patrick was also amazing with them. They got so much play time and so many snuggles. They were spoiled to bits. Stephanie lives 3 hours away from me and I happened to need a sitter out where I was traveling to but I will happily commute to have her watch my babies again even if I’m not taking a trip out her way. She is more than worth it.

Amber went out of her way to make Snowflake feel at home. She even went to the store and bought her some chicken to boil because she didn’t want to eat her dog food. She was good to keep in touch and answer my questions soon after I asked them. She is a great sitter for my girl! I hope to book her to keep Snowflake again soon. Thank you, Amber!

We left our German Shepherd with Christa and her family over the 4th of July wknd for 5 days. We couldn’t have been more happy with how his stay went. We received pictures and updates daily. We know Kane had a great time with her & the kids. They were very kind and welcoming when we arrived, we knew as soon as we dropped him off that he was in great hands! Highly recommend :)

I was very impressed with how well Terry took care of Buster. You could tell she really loves animals. He loved being with her! She took him for walks and spent a lot of time with him on her back porch. She asked lots of questions to ensure Buster was getting everything he needed. She continually sent me little messages about their day and adorable photos. I will definitely use her as a sitter again. Thank you so much Terry!

Dessire was amazing! I booked my fur baby last minutes for the weekend and she was awesome about it. This is my first time using Rover and Dessire made the experience worth trying it out. She sent me daily updates and when my trip was extended late she was flexible about extending Nalas stay another night! Will definitely book again and recommend to everyone!

About: I am very attentive to all animals. I allow animals in the house, and on the furniture. I have a dog that gets along great with other animals. I am willing to feed, and groom. I am easy going, and am very easy to get along with. I am very accommodating to every need that your sweet pet may need. If there are any medications or a certain diet that must be followed, I will make sure it happens. I have references to ease your mind, and to reassure you that your baby is in good hands. I can’t wait to work with you and your sweet babies! Hope to hear from you soon! I have a schedule that is different from most. I am a paramedic, so I work 24 hours at a time and off 48 hours. I am also active and looking for things to do on my two days off. My kids and I enjoy animals so much that we would love to bring a new friend around in our home. I am willing to keep whatever schedule your baby has going as normal as possible for them. I will feed and administer medication as needed. They have free range of the house and a yard to go potty.

About: I live by the campsite rule — leave things better than you found them. Your home will be exactly as you left it, and your pet will have had a great day. The only evidence will be the pet hair I’ll inevitably wear home on my clothes. No outfit is complete without it. FOR PETS WHO NEED A LITTLE EXTRA PATIENCE Some animals need more than a cheerful hello or a baby voice — they need someone who understands that trust takes time. I’m experienced with anxious, reactive, and shy pets and know how to move slowly, read body language, and let them set the pace. There’s no rushing it, and I wouldn’t want to. For particularly nervous pets, I’m happy to do multiple meet and greets before we start services. SENIOR PETS AND SPECIAL NEEDS I’m comfortable giving medications and following detailed care instructions, especially for senior pets who need extra consistency. Routine is everything to an older animal, and I make sure their day stays as normal as possible while you’re away. Don’t worry about accidents either — as dogs get older, it just happens, and they’ve earned patience and dignity. A HOUSE FULL OF ANIMALS I live with two cats and 4 dogs, and know firsthand what a multi-pet household actually looks like. I understand who needs to eat when, who needs space from whom, which routines work and which ones create chaos. I’m genuinely interested in how your animals already fit together, because that rhythm is what keeps everyone calm. I’ll follow what’s working, not reinvent the wheel. YOU’LL ALWAYS KNOW HOW THINGS ARE GOING I send regular photo and message updates (maybe too many) so you can see how your pet is doing while you’re away. My goal is for your pet to feel calm, cared for, and happy, and for you to feel completely at ease leaving them in my care. I’m always happy to set up a meet and greet so we can all get comfortable before booking. I work 4 days a week in the school system for 7 hours a day. Otherwise, I’m a home body and spend my time there. Because I plan my days around pet care, I’m able to be consistent and dependable with timing and communication. I care for pets in their own home so they can stay comfortable in a familiar environment. During each visit I follow your instructions closely and keep routines consistent, including feeding, fresh water, walks or playtime, litter box or yard care, and making sure doors and gates are secure. I spend time with your pet beyond basic care — whether that means exercise and enrichment for energetic dogs or calm companionship for pets that just want company. I also keep an eye on behavior, appetite, and overall well-being and will let you know if anything seems out of the ordinary. I respect your home as well as your pet. I make sure food and litter areas stay tidy, clean up any accidents, and send updates with photos so you know your pet is safe and cared for while you’re away.

About: I’ve always had a passion for animals of all kinds. I attended school for veterinary technology, giving me a strong foundation in animal health and care. Beyond that, I’ve worked with a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, farm animals, reptiles, and birds. I’m comfortable caring for pets with different personalities, routines, and needs, and I’m not intimidated by just about any animal. Every pet is unique, so I take the time to learn what works best for yours, ensuring they receive the same love, patience, and attention they’re used to while you’re away. My goal is to provide dependable, compassionate care that gives you peace of mind and keeps your pets happy, safe, and comfortable. As a stay-at-home mom, I have a very flexible schedule and can accommodate most visit times, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and many last-minute requests. I’m happy to work with your pet’s routine to provide the care they need when they need it. I have a large yard to go for walks in, far way from the road. If they stay at our home, they will be treated like our pets. Part of the family ❤️

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 50 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Valley Head. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Every sitter has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

Sitters may also include daily walks in the neighborhood during your dog's boarding stay. You can also request photo and message updates throughout so you can see which local landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Valley Head home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Valley Head.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Valley Head sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
