We had an amazing experience with Lynn! From the very beginning, communication was clear and prompt, and I felt completely at ease leaving my dog in her care. She sent regular updates and photos, which made being away so much easier. When we came home our dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, loving sitter!

Mark was an amazing house sitter for us and we even quickly rebooked to use him again in December. He sent us a ton of pictures daily and regularly. This is something I very much appreciated getting constant updates/pics throughout the day, every day. This brings so much peace of mind while we are away. Would highly recommend Mark!

Haeli is the best! My girls loved her. I won’t hesitate to use her again. She communicates so well and was so responsive. I think I actually have more anxiety about leaving my dogs than they have about me leaving them. She was calming and assured me my girls were taken care of. Can ask for more than that. Thank you, Haeli!

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have always loved caring for animals. I’m patient, dependable, and very attentive to each pet’s individual needs and personality. I’m experienced with dogs of different sizes, energy levels, and temperaments, and I’m happy to stick to routines, administer basic care, go on walks, play, and provide lots of attention while you’re away. I understand how important it is to keep pet parents updated, so I’ll make sure you receive regular photos and communication for peace of mind. Whether your pet loves being active or prefers relaxing and cuddling, I’ll make sure they feel loved and cared for like they’re part of my own family. My schedule is very flexible and changes slightly depending on the month. In May, I have open availability. In June, I’m in class Tuesdays from 8 AM–3 PM and Wednesdays/Thursdays from 8 AM–11 AM. In July, I only have class on Mondays from 8 AM–11 AM. Outside of class, I have plenty of time to dedicate to pet care, including walks, playtime, feeding, check-ins, and overnight care depending on the booking. I’m available mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, and I always make sure pets stay on their normal routines and feel comfortable while their owners are away. I always want pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. Whether I’m caring for pets on a walk or a in a client’s home, I make it a priority to follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and any special instructions. I’m very attentive to pets’ behavior and needs, and I make sure they’re always supervised in a safe environment. I keep spaces clean, secure, and pet-friendly, and I’m careful when introducing pets to new surroundings or routines. I also understand how important communication is, so I provide regular updates and photos to help owners feel at ease while they’re away.

About: I love dogs and cats. I have had them my whole life! My labrador just passed away so I am looking for some pet interaction! I miss her dearly. I have taken care of both dogs and cats with special needs, behavioral issues, and senior pets. I love taking both on walks, car rides, park trips, etc. whatever they like to do! Currently working a hybrid job so I can work from home if needed. I’m more of a home body so I will have plenty of chill time with your fur babies. I also like going on outdoor adventures like walks and dog parks weather permitting. At home I have a fenced yard in a quiet neighborhood. There is one friendly dog and one solitary but other pet friendly senior cat. Both can be secluded to the upstairs if needed.

Gabrielle was amazing! I always worry about leaving our older dog, Bogey, he has anxiety issues and needs a lot of love and care. Gabby stayed in our home while my family and I were on vacation. She did an incredible job making sure Bogey went out when needed, she cleaned up any accidents he had, and the most important thing is she stayed the night in our home, which allowed Bogey to sleep in her bed and gave him comfort all night, as if I was home. I had zero concerns or issues while gone and I hope she’ll want to come back to watch Bogey for us again. Thank you so much!

About: I’ve been around animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up on a farm, caring for animals was just a part of everyday life, and that’s where my love for them really began. From feeding and cleaning up after them to making sure they were healthy and happy, I learned early on that every animal deserves patience, kindness, and lots of love. That passion led me to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. My education gave me a deeper understanding of animal health, behavior, and how to care for pets with different needs, whether they’re playful puppies, curious kittens, or senior pets who need a little extra patience and attention. I know how hard it can be to leave your pet with someone else, they’re family. That’s why I treat every pet like they’re my own—with plenty of love, attention, playtime, and cuddles (if they enjoy them!). My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while giving you complete peace of mind when you’re away. Pet care has always been a natural part of my everyday life. I currently work part-time as a housekeeper, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to dedicate plenty of time to the pets I’m caring for. Whether it’s stopping by for a walk, spending quality time playing, keeping up with feeding schedules, or staying overnight, I truly enjoy being there for each pet. I love getting to know every animal’s unique personality, and I make it a priority to help them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their family is away. For me, caring for pets never feels like work, it’s something I genuinely look forward to every day. When I’m caring for your pet in your home my biggest goal is to help them feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I’ll stick to their normal routine as closely as possible whether that means feeding them on schedule taking them for walks playing with them or just spending time giving them extra love and attention. I know every pet is different and I enjoy getting to know their unique personality. Some pets want to play the whole time while others are happiest just having someone nearby. I’ll meet them where they’re at and make sure they feel cared for and loved. I also understand that trusting someone in your home is a big deal so I’ll treat your home with the same care and respect that I would my own.

We were away on a 2.5 week vacation overseas, the longest we’ve been away from our cats. They are pretty low maintenance and are good as long as they have food and water, but we were worried about our long absence since they’re pretty cuddly and clingy. I did some research on pet sitting and found Charity through Rover and was immediately impressed with her stellar reviews and repeat clients! I reached out and explained our situation and she was so kind and receptive. We booked our sitting appointment for the full 2.5 weeks, and booked a meet and greet about a month before to walk through the apartment, meet our cats, and chat. Charity is so warm and easy to talk to, it’s as if we’d been friends a long time. During our vacay, she gave us daily updates with pictures despite the time zone difference, and made us feel at ease. It made enjoying our vacay that much easier knowing she was here every day taking care of our fur babies. Charity is a natural with animals, isn’t afraid to ask questions, and we will definitely work with her again for our next vacation! Thank you so much, Rover and Charity!

FAQs for House Sitting - Valley

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 625 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Valley. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Valley. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
