“Meagan took exceptional care of our Maycee! She sent regular updates daily and kept us informed on what she was doing and how she was doing. I really felt like she was being cared for by a friend or family member after meeting Meagan just once. This was the first time we have used Rover and having Meagan care for our dog gave us such piece of mind.”

“Kayla takes great care of our dog, Bonnie! She does well with our anxious pup and we can tell Bonnie was happy while we were gone. Kayla gives daily check ins and is very responsive. We will definitely ask her to care for our dog again!”

“So nice to know Copper had the comfort of a home and people to love on him while we were away! He has anxiety so having Chris & Erin around almost all the time was so wonderful for him.”

“Cynthia took great care of our dog! She was kind, responsive and great to work with. We knew it would be tricky to get him to eat and she gave extra attention to make sure he did. We are so grateful!”

“Jaden was an awesome sitter. He was prompt in communication, followed up appropriately, and you could tell my dog had a great time during his visit. Jaden is a dog lover, and its evident he’s very experienced with animal care by all the care questions he asked about that I would have forgotten to share. He sent fun video updates and photos of my dog having a blast with him and his girlfriend. We will definitely ask Jaden in the future to dog sit before looking elsewhere. You can’t go wrong with booking him!”

“When you choose Rover, please book with Elizabeth! She was nothing but amazing with our dog. Our Corgi was in her care for 5 days and 4 nights. Not once did I feel anxious about being away from him because she made us feel like family since the very beginning. I’ve read the reviews and have experienced first hand how much love she has for her clients. Your dog can expect a wonderful fenced in backyard, clean kennels, scheduled meal times, and lots of loves and playtime. I couldn’t be happier! We will definitely be booking with Elizabeth again!”

“We came to Iowa for a wedding. Cory took good care of our 2 senior dogs (labs). One has separation anxiety that he was able to comfort and the other took a nap on his bed. He walked and fed them.”

About: I’m a dog lover and have two corgis of my own who are both very friendly with other dogs and people. I’m used to caring for dogs every day, including feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and lots of attention and cuddles. My dogs are social and welcoming, so your pup will have some friendly company while staying with me. I’ll make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and treated like part of the family while you’re away. I’m also happy to follow your dog’s normal routine and any special instructions you have! I’m currently working part-time, so I have plenty of time to give your pup attention, playtime, and care. I’m available for boarding on weekends and most weekdays after 5PM. I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages throughout their stay. I have two friendly corgis, Sushi and Boba, who can provide companionship if your pup is comfortable around other dogs. I keep a close eye on all dogs during outdoor time and can crate or separate them when needed. I focus on providing a calm, clean, and safe home environment for your pup.
“Kari is quick to respond to messages and was easy to work with. She was super about last minute time changes. She sent pictures and kept me updated on how my girl was doing. All in all a good experience and Freddie gives her a paws up!”

“Molly is simply the best! My dogs are always happy to go visit and Molly communicates with me throughout the boarding time. I will continue to use Molly and recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic pet sitter!”

“This was my first time using Rover and I was pleased with Jessica’s quick response time and enthusiasm to meet and care for Blanca. The process was easy and drop off went smoothly. Jessica’s dog was in a kennel when we arrived to make drop off less stressful for both dogs. The pups were introduced after we left to get their sniffing done on neutral territory (on a walk out front). We received photos and updates during our whole time away and knew Blanca was happy and safe. We would be happy to use Jessica again in the future!”

“Butter loved her stay at Ashly’s! Ashly is a professional and we felt instantly comfortable when dropping Butter off. Ashly did a great job following all of our care instructions. Butter had a great time playing with Ashly’s dog and definitely needed a bath from all the fun after we picked her up! Would definitely use Ashly’s services again. Thank you so much!”

“I had to travel halfway across the world for over two weeks without my anxious little Emma. Christy and Erkam did such a great job dealing with Emma - keeping her calm, going out for walks, and giving her medicine. They gave me frequent updates and immediately reached out whenever they have questions and concerns. Really appreciate the love and attention they showered Emma with. Highly recommend Christy and Erkam!”

“This was our first time using Rover and Ivana did a fabulous job, truly going above and beyond our expectations! We felt that she treated our dog like family, exactly as we would treat her. We got daily updates/videos and in every one, our dog looked like she was having the most amazing time! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!”

“Mallory and her support crew were absolutely amazing! Very accommodating to scheduling, sent video and pictures with updates. My dog is 1 so a little hyper to say the least and their dog rope contraption is perfect. I came back from my trip and my dog is calm and content 7 out of 5 stars”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Valeria home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Valeria.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Valeria sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
