“Amanda was FABULOUS at watching our two pups while we were away for a trip! Between the detailed updates, pictures, walks and even helping water the flowers at home, she did everything I could’ve wanted! I know our dogs enjoyed her coming over and spending time with them and giving them much needed snuggles. We will absolutely be booking with Amanda again in the future!”

About: I recently moved and I have much more free time. I have 2 pets of my own, a super hyper mini Aussie and a relaxed and chill mix bread we recused years ago. There isn’t much I love in this world more than pets. I believe having someone accountable with integrity is very important. That’s me! I’ll always be on time, and do as you ask. I’ve had a bad experience with someone not showing up, I understand the worry pet owners have when they travel or work a long day. I also understand the stress it can put on dogs not having their owners around. I’ll be sure to treat your pups as I treat mine… like they are my kids and my priority. I don’t have much going on outside of typical appointments and random errands. My schedule is pretty relaxed and open, outside of already planned vacations. I can not care for animals in my own home as of now. My older dog doesn’t do well with others. Maybe at a later date this could be offered

About: I work remotely part time from home. Looking for extra income and more animals to adore. I help take care of family also. Long term and short term availability. Currently working at home part time. So lots of time. And have my own schedules with current animals, livestock, poultry and cats & dogs. Also some reptiles. I am working on sitting up a safe area for pets to be removed from my animals and then will be open for boarding. Unsure on the timeline of that

About: I’ve taken care of cats, I have 2 cats as well! While I was in college my roommates had dogs that I would watch when they would leave or couldn’t come home in time. I’m good with both both cats and dogs. Im currently working part time, I don’t think pet sitting is a job it’s so fun to do so I would love it as a side job. I’m also getting my masters in biomedical sciences right now My pets have access to every inch of the house and are well cared for, toys, scratch post and many treats! I love playing with them, taking them outside, feeding and can also clean litter boxes

“Lisa definitely lived up to the other glowing reviews. She visited our house daily to feed, water and take care of the litter box for our two cats. She is reliable and even made friends with our often-shy Siamese kitty. We appreciated the daily pictures and reports cards while we were away on our week-long trip. We would highly recommend Lisa for your away pet-sitting needs! Hopefully she will still be providing here excellent services the next time we take a trip to visit family.”

About: I've raised 2 dogs and have taken care of friends' and co-workers' dogs for nearly 40 years. I love snuggling with and playing fetch with dogs of all ages. I don't watch much t.v. so, most of my time would be spent enjoying your friend/family member's company! I can't wait!!! I work from home most days and I typically work Monday through Friday. On the weekends I don't work, so I will be fully engrossed in play with your loved one! I live in a cute little house with a small back yard, but have a big middle school one street away where I take doggies to play and walk. There's also a really close park and tons of walking paths nearby.

About: I would consider myself one of the best dog sitters, I Shih Tzu not. I've house and pet sat for many of my family members, friends, neighbors, and even strangers over the years. I'm very affectionate towards animals and will soak up as many snuggles as they're willing to give me! I love having a bed buddy and couch potato to hang out with, as well as active puppies and dogs who love a long walk. I can also transport animals in my car for outings and adventures if that's something you'd be interested in. I'm so looking forward to hearing from you, getting to spend time with your fur babies, and making sure they feel loved while you're away. Cheers! - Rylee Availability: Sun-Sat, All day, at Any time My schedule is open every day of the week, as well as my evenings. I prefer to spend my nights in with the animals, and my days on adventures with them. I'm available at any time of day to keep in contact about how your loved one is doing. I will care for your pets, or family members more like, as I do for my own puppy at home. She's my whole world, and I will always strive to give that same energy to your puppies, too.

About: I been fostering kittens for two years with my partner, including bottle-feeding newborns, caring for young or special needs litters, and administering medications. It's been an incredibly rewarding experience and has taught me a lot about patience, responsibility, and animal care. I also have experience house-sitting for both cats and dogs through the Rover app, making sure pets stay happy and comfortable while their owners are away. I truly enjoy spending time with animals and always treat them like my own. I work full-time, but pet care is still a big part of my routine because I’m super flexible and adaptable. I’m comfortable managing tasks around my schedule and always prioritize making sure pets feel safe, happy, and well cared for. When caring for pets in my home, especially kittens I’m fostering, I provide a safe, clean, and nurturing environment. I make sure they get plenty of social interaction and gentle handling to help them thrive. I also monitor their health closely and keep their space sanitized to prevent illness. When caring for pets in a client’s home through house sitting, I follow the owner’s instructions carefully, whether that’s feeding routines, medication, exercise, or playtime. I treat their home and pets with respect, maintaining the usual environment to keep pets comfortable and stress free. I also provide regular updates to owners so they feel connected and confident while away.

“I will absolutely book again! Qing exceeded expectations! Qing is very experienced, knowledgeable, communicative and detail oriented. My grumpy cat is on prescribed food and has chronic kidney failure as he ages and genetic asthma which required daily inhaling medication and oral pills. She precisely administered all meds and diets without any issue at all! She’s very professional and organized. Another sitter with vet experience canceled on us last minute and Qing is the safest and best option to me!”

About: About Me 🐾 Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience in doggy daycare, kennel care, boarding, animal handling, and maintaining clean, safe environments for animals. Caring for animals has always been something I’m passionate about, and I love getting to know each animal’s unique personality, needs, and behaviors. Through my professional experience, I’ve learned the importance of patience, consistency, safety, and understanding animal body language. I’m especially interested in dog behavior and training, and I enjoy building trust with animals at their own pace. Whether your pet is energetic and playful, shy and cautious, or has a personality all their own, I strive to make them feel comfortable, secure, and cared for. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and house sitting, and I understand how important it is to have someone dependable looking after your pets and respecting your home. I’ll do my best to maintain your pet’s usual routine, provide plenty of attention and enrichment, and follow your care instructions closely. I love working with all kinds of animals and believe every pet deserves kindness, respect, and individualized care. My goal is to give you peace of mind while making sure your animals feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I look forward to meeting you and your furry, feathered, or otherwise wonderful family members! 🐸🐱🐰🐶🐠❤️ My day-to-day routine includes caring for animals, keeping their environments clean and comfortable, and making sure their individual needs are met. I enjoy staying active, learning about animal behavior, and providing pets with attention, exercise, enrichment, and companionship. When caring for your pets, I prioritize following their normal routines, including walks, feeding schedules as instructed, potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of affection. I’m attentive to their behavior and comfort levels and strive to provide consistent, reliable care while keeping owners updated on how their pets are doing. I stick to schedules and routines, I believe being a great pet sitter means more than just providing food, walks, and playtime. It means being patient, attentive, dependable, and understanding how to make each animal feel secure and respected. My experience has taught me the importance of recognizing animal body language, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and adjusting my approach to each pet’s comfort level. When you trust me with your pets, I want you to feel confident knowing they’re receiving thoughtful, personalized care. Whether I’m taking your dog for a walk, checking in on your pets while you’re away, or staying in your home to keep them company, my goal is to treat every animal with the same patience, kindness, and attention I would want for my own. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your pets and become someone you can rely on!

About: I have over 10 years of experience caring for dogs, cats, fish, and other animals, including caring for multiple pets at once. I’ve walked and exercised dogs, helped with basic training, and cared for pets with different personalities and routines. I currently have my own two kitties who are extremely spoiled! I’m patient, attentive, and genuinely enjoy getting to know each animal I care for. I understand that every pet has their own needs, habits, and comfort level, and I’ll make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and cared for while you’re away. I currently work part-time, which gives me plenty of flexibility for pet care. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and sitting around my work schedule, including weekdays and weekends. I’m happy to communicate about specific schedules and make sure I can provide your pet with the time and attention they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’m respectful of your home and will carefully follow your instructions for feeding, walks, medications, routines, and anything else your pet needs. I’ll keep you updated during visits and am happy to send photos so you know how your furry family member is doing. FAQs for Pet Sitting - Vail

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
