About: Hello! My name is Julissa. I have so much love for all pets and animals. Growing up, i’ve always had a dog in the house, and they were always such an important member of our family. It’s been about five years since I’ve had a dog of my own. My last dog’s name was Sasha. We adopted her when she was six and had her until she was about thirteen. She was so smart, loving, and anxious when we first got her so our first few years together were spent establishing trust. Eventually we managed to off-leash train and we worked a lot on her recall so that we could enjoy longer walks and outdoor activities while ensuring that she always felt safe in her environment. At home we set her bed up in the kitchen, where we would pass our time cooking and spending a lot of quality time together. I had so many good years with my Sasha, and since she passed I have genuinely missed spending time with animals on a consistent basis. Since then, most if not all of my friends and family have entrusted me with taking care of their animals when they are busy or traveling, so I’ve had a lot of experience with many different pets and their varying needs/personalities. I work freelance as an artist. I am a musician, so I often stay at home practicing or composing. However most of my work is in the film industry, and this work ranges from smaller independent projects to network television. Although I do work on set sometimes, I try to take on as many post-production gigs as possible, so I often find myself sitting behind a desk all day. I have always made it a priority to work in a field that I am passionate about, and my decision to work with Rover has been no different. About: For the past 4 years, I have volunteered at an animal shelter where I worked with both dogs and cats. With dogs, I have experience with all ages, ranging from 5 week old puppies to senior dogs. I have walked and played with dogs who were the most outgoing and loving dogs, as well as the more fearful ones who needed a little extra attention before opening up to me. About: Most notably, I have worked for Dan's Pet Care as a dog walker in Manhasset for 6 months. I would walk dogs, sometimes feed them, give them water, give them medication, pick up and drop them off to and from the petcare center if asked to. To put it shortly, I have lots of experience with new dogs. I also used to work at The Allypond Environmental Center, along with owning pets throughout my life and still do to this day such as dogs, cats, birds, fish, and guinea pigs. “My dog Charlie does so well when I leave him with Eric, even though he usually has separation anxiety when I’ve left him with other sitters, he doesn’t with Eric. Which I really appreciate and calms any anxiety I would otherwise have about leaving my pup. Eric sends a lot of photos and videos, which is nice when you’re outta town. Your pup will be in great hands with Eric. I also love how much socializing With other dogs Charlie gets to have when I leave him with Eric. He’s a spoiled only child so it’s great for him to be with the pack once in awhile. Haha. Anyhow, Eric is awesome, so glad I found him here in Astoria! Thank you Eric.”
