“Having never left my dog with a stranger, I was definitely nervous dropping off my poppy before our vacation. But Li Ting went above and beyond making sure both me and my dog were comfortable. She sent paragraph long updates with so many details that made me think “yup, that’s my poppy!”. And of course lots of pictures and videos. They went on adventures, had yummy snacks, and she even brushed poppy’s teeth. I felt so full of joy and so much comfort seeing her updates. Plus, poppy got along with her dog so well. “Bennett was a wonderful cat-visitor. We gave him a bit of a challenge, trying to get our cat Tony to eat his medication. Bennett had to win Tony's trust first, and that took just a couple of days (note: the medication was not something that would cause serious side-effects if not delivered daily).Before long, Tony was following Bennett around the house and playing with an interactive cat toy with him, and allowing Bennett to pet him. Our second cat, Max, has always been a shy one. Bennett did see him a number of times, but was unable to interact with them. Bennett was definitely organized and timely! He sent photos daily, updated the "meds" situation, was a super litter scooper, etc. Both boys are looking great, no one missed any meals, for sure. We would hire Bennett again, any time we are out of town.”

About: My experience is primarily with cats and dogs (in particular pit bulls and northern breeds including huskies), and aquariums (fresh, salt and reef), although I am happy to discuss sitting for households that include exotics such as reptiles or small pets. I am comfortable with high medical needs or multi-pet households due to my previous experience with multiple-cat homes and as an owner of two dogs and a cat myself. I only care for pets who are able to remain in their home environment (housesitting) because I feel that maintaining their usual routines and experience as much as possible when their humans are gone is critical to minimizing their stress. I work remotely as a freelancer, and during housesits, will not leave your pets alone except for essential errands lasting no more than two hours at a time, once a day. (For example, medical or dental appointments, checking on my own home and pets, running errands). For pets who suffer from separation anxiety, I may be able to offer continuous 24/7 coverage but this will need to be discussed. I feel that it's very important that client and sitter are a good fit for each other. While I am happy to work with households containing reactive pets or complex routines such as rotating dogs who do not always get along, I cannot accept jobs involving aggressive animals or those with a bite history. Pre-booking meet and greets are critical to making sure that we are on the same page and that both you and I have an understanding of what your pet's routine should be while you are gone. I provide daily updates via text, email, or messenger, and am available via phone or text 24/7 when you are away. For routine inquiries, please be aware that I do not check my messages between 9PM-8AM Pacific time.

“Katie and Jason are great dogsitters (and super friendly humans in general)! They took great care of our pup Kiwi, who can be anxious and slow to warm up to people, and they understood that Kiwi needs to go at her own pace. Upon handoff, they immediately took her for a quick walk around the block which helped ease the transition, and by that evening, Kiwi was comfortable and asking for pets. Katie and Jason are quick to respond and kept us updated with both many adorable photos and brief recaps of walks or fun things that happened in the home. They accommodated our late pickup time with no fuss and had everything prepared: the bowls were washed and dried, and the blanket was folded. Highly recommend these two! “My Border-Aussie (7.5 yrs old) stayed with Kimmy, Jesse and Tycho for 5 nights and 6 days (while I was 400 miles away with my kids). How can I describe their care? Heroic. Yes, heroic. My pup had not stayed at Rover or away from family in about 3 years - and had always had a great time at Rover hosts. This time he apparently decided to express separation anxiety with loss of use of rear legs and bowels for two days! Kimmy and Jesse were sending photos and text every few hours while I tried to get a mobile vet there (they don’t do emergencies it turns out). But we started to reason that all didn’t make sense based on timing! They got a lifting harness and diapers and were on full time watch. But I most regret the anxiety and worry they went through. By day 3 he was up and about and day 5 and 6 having a grand old time. Conclusion? Border Drama - yup it’s a thing. He does have some intermittent weakness in right rear leg but this was a true performance which they handled with so much compassion toward Jango and grace toward me. I literally do not know any friends or neighbors who could have handled situation better or who I could have trusted more. I’ve owned Border Collies for over 25 years and this was a new one even for me! They are exceptional folks who genuinely love dogs and are a blessing. They even took a photo they gave to me of Jango with the caption “Best Drama King” lol. Thku Kimmy, Jesse and Tycho!”

“Margaret is probably the best dog sitter we’ve ever worked with. Let me give some context: our utterly cute dog was adopted in 2020 (pandemic dog) with already deep fear and trauma. We think something happened when she was a puppy that caused deep fear such as abuse or some sort of trauma. Basically, she was afraid of everything and utterly shy. We worked with multiple trainers for almost two years and finally got her to a good place. We learned with time and patience she gets comfortable with strangers and once you’re in her pack. You are there for life. She loves playing with dogs but dog parks would get complicated because other dogs sometimes would teach bad habits or become aggressive (trainers also mentioned things can escalate and certain owners have no control). We also learned she is scared of certain breeds and afraid of cats. But she has an incredible memory and is the smartest dog we’ve ever had. However, most people dog kennels, individuals have zero experience and patience. Given her memory, there are certain vets or dog daycares she will cry and try running away from if we are walking by. The true test of dog unhappiness. Fast forward to 2023, we’ve built trust and loyalty with our baby but the problem is she is still afraid of strangers and the unknown. She is al highly protective of her territory and will start barking (think a stranger walking up to me or a stranger entering our home). We’ve learned methods to make her feel safe and comfortable and ways strangers should approach. Basically it’s hard to find a dog sitter for her than the average dog. Most places are money machines and do not give her the time making her regress. Margaret is beyond words incredible. She knows how to work with all types of dogs including very shy dogs and dogs with behavioral challenges. She has ample experience and genuine care for animals. Also our dog is highly fearful of the breeds: huskies and German shepherds. Margaret has both and was able to get our dog comfortable going out on runs and walks with them. When we came to pick her up she was sad to go and saying bye to both Margaret, her partner John (another amazing human) and all their dogs. She loved all of them from Luma the chihuahua mix that made ours more social to the Willis and Jackson that made her confident to even Jackson who made her feel safe and like a queen. They even were flirting hahaha Never have we left our dog and received so many pictures and saw her so happy. She did not even want to leave when we picked her up and learned new commands in just one week like paw. Our dog even cried while we drove away and loved her new pack. Margaret said she fit right in. If Margaret and John open a doggie daycare, our pup would be there every day because we have never seen her so social and happy while remaining in a safe and controlled space. She was loved, fed like crazy (the way to her heart) but did not gain weight because of all the exercise, games and activities provided by this wonderful couple. Margaret is also an incredible trainer and has so much patience and love. I felt so easy on our holidays with my baby there, did not even think twice. We are beyond proud and since that week with Margaret she is a different dog. Sweeter, calmer and just more confident and trusting. Please open a daycare that this area so desperately needs. One thing- I recognize the price is expensive this was our biggest challenge but they are truly worth it!!”

About: I’ve owned dogs my entire life (at one point we had 5 at time!) love taking them for long walks, teaching them new tricks like weave (and handstand!), and engaging their minds with agility. My senior dog recently passed and while I am not ready to get a new dog just yet, I miss having a dog so want to occasionally dog sit to help others out with their dogs before getting another dog of my own. I work full time but occasionally work from home. For this reason, Thursday to Sunday or Monday is best for me. I am active and love going on walks, hikes, and runs in and around the beautiful Portola Valley neighborhood. I love to hang on the couch and snuggle in the evenings! Dogs (non shedding) allowed on the bed :) My large backyard is fenced. My husband Dave and I often are asked by friends to help train their dogs because we love to help and are good at it! :)
