About: Jackson Galaxy unlocked the mystery of cat behavior for me and I've watched and rewatched his show on Animal Planet many times over the years. I recently had the opportunity to apply his techniques when I watched three cats and two dogs for a neighbor. One of the cats has a history of aggression but I tried the slow blink that Jackson teaches and the cat visibly relaxed. Yay! Watching Jackson I learned how important litter boxes are for cats - there need to be enough litter boxes (at least one more litter box than the number of cats), the litter boxes need to be kept clean, and they need to be kept in territorially important locations. I will make sure to keep litter boxes clean. I've also learned that cats need to hunt and many behaviors are because cats do not get enough interaction with toys. Cats need to hunt, catch, kill and this can be simulated by playing with the cat before feeding. If your cat needs this, I can accommodate. Another revelation from watching Jackson is that cats get overstimulated by full body pets and petting this way often triggers unwanted reactions. Instead, it is best to gently rub the side of the cheek with one finger. If your cat doesn't want to be pet, I am not going to force it. If they do approach, I will keep petting to cheek rubs unless the cat indicates they want something else.

“Amazing care for our two pups!! Elena was super responsive and understanding, even for our last-minute request. We needed doggy day care while we visited Universal Studios, as our hotel didn’t allow dogs to be left unattended in the room. We road-tripped down from Seattle (with our 2 dogs & 2 kiddos) and camped along the way, which left us a little frazzled and haggard... Elena was very empathetic and caring, despite my lack of proper research, planning, and punctuality.. lol Probably should’ve looked into things a bit more in-depth about the hotel pet policy beforehand, but I am incredibly grateful that Elena was able to take the pups while we visited the parks for a couple days. She was very tolerant, observant, and nurturing with our two pets, and I think they had a great time… even though they aren’t the best-trained dogs. We have a 4-year-old sassy chihuahua-heeler mix, and a 1.25-year-old Malinois-cattle dog mix. They are sweet girls, but have a strange dynamic. About: My Cairn Terriers (like Toto from Oz) hike Griffith and Runyon, chase squirrels, dig holes, play fetch at Weddington Park and take long walks. Sometimes we just lay in the sun or snuggle on the couch, but this is a loving home that is grain free, caters to the Fluff gang and we’re big on patience and attention. I've raised five dogs in my life - German Shepard, Black Lab, Lhasa Opso and now my Cairns. Having learned so much from each of them and the love I have for dogs in general, I'm excited to welcome your loved one into my home and help you be at ease knowing they're well cared for. I know nothing can keep you from missing your pet, but a confidence in them being comfortable and loved while you're away is a great help. ***Originally DogVacay, I’ve been with the service since 2010 and rarely open up to new clients. After a few folks moved out of town and others had kids which limited travel time, I’m opening up again. My preference would be to begin those same kind of long term care relationships with people who travel often or for larger lengths of time which allows your pup to feel as though they’re always going to a safe and familiar space with friends they know and love playing with. Working from home has allowed me to better care for my own senior pups and also gives me the freedom to spoil your loved one as well. My two friendly senior pups and I enjoy a gated back yard that still sees birds and squirrels enough to entertain them while being safe from any interactions. We have astroturf for back scratching and enjoying the sun, as well as a front yard, quiet cul de sac streets and a giant park for leisurely walks.

About: Been a dog owner all my life so I know how to read a dog's mood or figure out what it is they need. I have now been a rover sitter for 6 years and during my time have met and watched so many different breeds, each with their own quirks and needs. The well being of the dog in my care is the utmost importance. I love to play with them, give plenty of scratches and take them on nice walks in my neighborhood to make sure they're living a happy and healthy life. All pups are kept clean, fed and stress free while they’re here. I'm also almost always home and I live with my family so someone is always here just in case I need to leave the house. Our home is filled with huge animal lovers so your dog will have a good time and be treated just like family :) Honestly I just love dogs so much and know how nerve wracking/stressful it can be leaving your fur baby while you’re away so I make it my priority that they are safe and happy and taken care of so that when it’s time to pick them up they will feel like they were on their own lil vacation too! I work from home so I’m almost always here and can easily take the dogs out when they need or provide playtime but in the rare case that I do need to leave the house I either take the pups with me or a family member stays with them while I leave the house. I live in an apartment that’s pretty secure and closed off, I’ve never had any safety issues with the dogs. In the event that a pup runs out the door, the way my apartment is structured with locks and doors that would keep them from running out of the building
About: Since childhood, I've always had pets in my house. My black poodle passed away many years ago and I had a hard time finding another dog, but started taking home my friends' dogs when they were traveling. I recently moved from Nashville, TN (originally I am from Moscow Russia) to LA and have been walking 2 of my neighbor's dogs for several months. People in my apartment complex saw me and started asking me to walk their dogs. I love to be outside and now I have the company of someone's dog almost every day. My place is dog friendly but the apartment is not big enough for me to house large dogs. The property is huge with a lot of space to walk and run around.

About: I’ve been taking care of every size and aged dog since I was 6. I am perfected at playing any animal game and I have a pool your doggo can swim in! I will obviously go in with them. And if they just need a good cuddle, I’m their girl! It is a ritual. I treat them like they are my child. Every day is about them, me, and my family. Love is there. Thanks I spoil my animals (in a healthy way of course). I give them what they need whenever I can. I lay on the ground with them if needed as well. And I LOVE it if they sleep on my bed with me at night!
