“Melissa took such great care of Kuma! I loved getting photos and updates, it made feel so secure that Kuma was receiving excellent care. Melissa is a true dog lover and it shines through.”

About: Hello, I am a local who lives full time in Tahoe City. I've been a pet owner with both dogs and cats for the last 30+years. I am a mother of two grown children that are now off away at school. I work at the local elementary school with young children of special needs. I am a fun, caring and loving person who loves both animals and humans. I don't have any pets living with me so your pet would be the only one I would be caring for. I am free to take care of your pet most days, nights and some weekends. I work from home during the summer months so my schedule is always flexible. I currently live in a condo down the street from Lake Tahoe. There are numerous parks at the lake as well as many hiking trails to walk your dog at that are close by my place. I will always walk your dogs on a leash unless otherwise informed by owner to let run free in the woods and trails. I am very safe and responsible.
“Gissell is amazing! I had to drop my dog McGee off around 5:15am on a Friday and she was already up and excited to meet McGee! She sent pics throughout the day and I found out that he likes doing yoga! Thank you Gissell for your time! I hope to have him visit again soon.”

“Julia was great, able to watch our pup overnight after a last minute booking. She was great with our separation anxiety dog, took plenty of walks and potty breaks, and kept us updated through the stay. Will definitely book with Julia again when we have future needs!”
“Carly was fantastic! She went above and beyond to make the stay as easy as possible. Lots of pictures and updates made the my trip more comfortable. Ample activity and walks meant she was pretty tired after picking Krey up. Definitely would recommend.”

“This was our first foray into using Rover. Megan wonderfully handled our Great Dane, Dakota, who's skittish and energetic. One her first visit, Megan took Dakota out for a walk and on our return visit the next day Dakota eagerly pulled herself to Megan's front door. Communication with Megan was excellent and we would use her again and recommend her to our friends.”

“Kathy was so wonderful with my pup Steve! She sent daily updates and it was so obvious how happy and well-cared for he was. I think Steve had the time of his life and didn't miss us for one moment!”

About: Compassionate and dependable animal caregiver with 5 years of hands on experience caring for four Goldendoodles and one Black Labrador. Skilled in providing daily care, including feeding, exercise, maintaining routines, and ensuring a safe, healthy environment. Experienced in managing multiple dogs at once, recognizing behavioral cues, and meeting each animal’s unique needs with patience and attention. Dedicated to promoting the well-being, comfort, and happiness of every pet while building trust with both animals and their owners. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I already enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I regularly go on runs, walks, hikes, paddle boarding trips, and swimming, and I would love to have a dog accompany me during those activities. Caring for pets would add structure and purpose to my day while also keeping me active and engaged. I also work full time as a medical assistant at Tahoe Forest Health System Monday through Thursday from 5:45 AM to 4:20 PM, so I really value making the most of my time outside of work. Having pet care responsibilities would be a great way for me to stay busy and active after my shifts or on my days off. Since I don’t have much family or many friends in the area, I genuinely enjoy the companionship of animals and would love to build a bond with your pets. Spending time with them would not only keep them happy and exercised, but also keep me motivated, fulfilled, and connected throughout the week. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent, comfortable, and stress-free as possible. I make sure they are fed on schedule, get plenty of exercise through walks and playtime, and receive lots of attention, companionship, and supervision while in my care. I also pay close attention to their behavior and needs to ensure they feel safe and well cared for in their own environment. When I lived in Cameron Park, I cared for five dogs of my own and kept them all very active through daily walks, outdoor time, and structured routines. Since moving, I no longer have pets of my own due to limited space and financial stability, but my experience with multiple dogs has given me strong hands-on knowledge of managing different personalities and energy levels at once. This experience has helped me stay confident and attentive when caring for other people’s pets, and I treat every animal like they are my own while they are in my care.
“Thank you for working so well with me and minco. Sorry we had to rush out, the kiddo and dog had my hands full. You were wonderful and hope I can rely on you in the future”

“Could not have been a better experience! Our puppy dog Tito was treated as family during the course of his stay. Andrea was amazing at letting me know he was doing ok and I think Tito has found a new best friend with Henry! Thank you all so very much !!!”

About: I'm Rachel, a writer with a flexible schedule and a love of all things canine. I live with my husband, and my chocolate Labrador retriever, Ellie, in our West Shore cabin near Homewood. I signed up for Rover because dog sitting helps me get my fix for having a doggy harem. I would love to shower your dog with attention and affection. I volunteer at the local humane society, so I'm very adept at adapting to your dog's needs. I particularly love active dogs, and I'm happy to take your pup on hikes and swims in the lake. I'm also happy to hang out and have a more relaxing day with older, less active pups. Ellie (13) is very well-socialized, and she gets along well with dogs of all sizes. I work from home with a very flexible schedule, so I’m always happy to go out for a walk or a hike. Ellie, my 13-year-old Lab, is always up for meeting a new dog friend. Daycare Rates & Information: Daycare is up to 8 hours of care. Anything longer than that time, please book a boarding stay. Drop-offs anytime after 8 a.m. Pickups before 8 p.m. Although there is a nice buffer of woods near my house, the yard is not fenced (hopefully soon). I’ll be sure to keep your pup on a leash just in case! There’s an enclosed deck for sunbathing and watching chipmunks.
“I was brand new to the area with no established pet sitter and needed to travel last minute. Local kennels couldn’t accommodate me on such short notice. A Google search turned up the Rover app which in turn brought me to Gina and Erik. They had good reviews and repeat customers, so I contacted them via the app. They could accommodate me, had good prices, and asked me if I wanted to come see their home first. My cat is both a mama’s boy and a bit of a scaredy cat. I’d never boarded him before. I was worried he’d think he’d been abandoned again. (He’d been a stray after being adopted as a kitten. He was nine when I adopted him.) He was anxious at first, but in the pictures and videos that Gina and Erik sent, I could see that he was relaxing with them more each day. On the day I was to drive back home, I woke with a migraine. There was no way I could do the drive. I had to ask for an additional day with no advance notice. Fortunately Gina and Erik were able to keep my cat one day longer. Also, I forgot to mention the poopy mess that Gina helped me clean up when I first dropped him off. They provided me with above and beyond service. I wholeheartedly recommend them.”

About: We have taken care of animals all our lives and have a genuine love for each of them. We have experience with it all; new puppies and kittens, as well as older furry friends who may need special treatment and/or administering medication. Between the both of us, we always make it a priority to work with our pups with lots of playtime, exercise, training and socialization daily. We both are self employed and create our own schedules so we are flexible and work together to ensure our pets have an enjoyable & active day. We have a large dog-friendly fenced-in yard as well as amazing trails just outside our backdoor. Our Aussie-Border Collie mix, Penny is super friendly and submissive and gets along with everyone. She is super gentle when needed and can hold her own with larger dogs also. We have a very well socialized cat, Eleanor, who LOVES dogs and visitors.
About: I have lived in Tahoe for 25 years and always had my own dog and watched over my friend's dogs throughout the years. My best friend (Maggie - Retriever) passed away 18 months ago and I watch many of my friend's dogs frequently, including an elderly short hair retriever that is battling pancreatic cancer. I work from home and board my friend's dogs as well as check in and walk dogs when owners need help. I do have a number of recent references. I have worked from home for 25 years. I am very active and walk frequently. I am an early morning riser and monitor how often dogs need a walk or outside break. Pets are a part of my daily routine. My home: I have beds set up and recognize different doggy routines, ie need to go on the porch for sun, or need to go out for a break and walk. I have a section on my porch and in the laundry area for their food and water and a special area where I organize all the food, medication, leaches, doggy bags. I have a place by my couches with a large basket with balls, toys and stuffed doggy animals. I watch a number of my friend's dogs, and each has a unique and special routine and they have all come to trust me a look forward to visiting. I stay a bit at some of my friend's houses if they want me to help with house watch, plants, delivery receipt and other home needs while they are traveling and away on extended trips.
“Westan is such a blessing! It’s our first time to leave our 9 months old border collie to someone we don’t know but Maui felt immediately home with him! We were able to enjoy the day without worrying knowing that he is in good hands! Thank you so much Westan. I highly recommend Westan as he not only watched our dog but did lots of activity with him and provided pictures . Definitely see you next time!! Maui misses you already!”

“I've never felt so comfortable leaving my dog's in someone's care than I did with Susan and her family. Absolutely top notch people and excellent communicators. My oldest dog had a nagging injury and needed to have his activity limited and I returned home from my vacation to his improved health. My only fear is that as travel opens up again Susan will be unavailable next time I need her! Thank you again!”

“Leaving your dogs is never easy, but Christine made it seamless for us and joyful for Willow and Jones. She treated them like her own, created a warm space, and shared the sweetest updates. We came home to relaxed, happy pups, which says everything.”

“My dog is picky about people. He immediately felt comfortable with Alison. She is very kind and caring and he felt that as soon as he met her . You can tell she takes such great care of the dogs while you are gone. I saw all her little notes she takes to make sure that she didn’t forget anything. I had a missed flight connection and she responded immediately and was so flexible to add another visit on the spot. I am so glad I found her!”

“Adam was great! Very kind and quick to respond when I had questions, which put my mind at ease while I was away. Will definitely be booking Adam again in the future.”

“Ann Marie was fantastic. My older cat does not do well with boarding and we travel a lot. We were gone 6 weeks. She updated me daily with notes and photos, played with him and cuddled with him. The house was tidy when we returned and our cat was happy, well fed and content. I highly recommend her and will definitely see if she is available the next time we travel.”

My other cat easily took a liking to Malia as well. Malia is very respectful, professional, and allowed me to be worry free during my trip - I would highly recommend her to anybody looking for a house sitter. Thank you again Malia!”

About: Hi, I’m Julia! I’m 44 years old and originally from France, and I’d love to be your pet’s new favorite sitter 🐾 I have many years of experience caring for animals, especially dogs. My own dog lived to almost 17 years old, so I’m very familiar with everything from playful pups to senior care, including medications, special diets, and extra patience when needed. I genuinely love being outdoors and going on walks, and I always make sure each pet gets the exercise, attention, and routine they’re used to—whether that’s regular potty breaks, feeding schedules, or just lots of cuddles and companionship. I live right by the national forest, which is perfect for safe, enriching walks in nature. In addition to dogs, I also have experience with cats, fish, and pet rats, so I’m happy to care for a variety of pets. Since I work mostly from home, I’m able to provide plenty of supervision and attention throughout the day—your pet will never feel alone. I also offer in-home visits, where I can care for your pets in their own environment and help with small tasks like watering plants and keeping things in order while you’re away. I treat every pet like family and always aim to make them feel relaxed and loved while you’re away. Feel free to reach out with any questions—I’d love to meet you and your pet! Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine since I work mostly from home and have a flexible schedule. I’m able to plan my day around the pets in my care, making sure they get regular walks, feeding, potty breaks, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I enjoy starting and ending my day with walks, especially since I live right by the national forest, so it’s easy to give dogs fresh air and exercise in a calm, natural environment. I’m also home most of the time, which allows me to provide consistent supervision, companionship, and care. For in-home visits, I’m able to adjust my schedule to match each pet’s routine and needs, whether that’s morning, midday, or evening visits. I always aim to keep pets on their usual schedule so they feel comfortable and stress-free while you’re away. I always care for pets as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved whether they are in my home or their own. In my home, pets get a calm, relaxed environment with lots of attention throughout the day since I work mostly from home. I follow their usual routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, and any specific care instructions. Living near the national forest also allows me to provide peaceful, enriching walks in nature for dogs who enjoy being outdoors. In my clients’ homes, I make sure to respect both the pet’s routine and the home itself. I stick closely to your instructions so your pet experiences as little disruption as possible. I’m attentive to details like meals, medications, exercise, and companionship, and I also make sure your home is kept tidy. I’m happy to help with small additional tasks like watering plants, bringing in mail, and keeping things in order while you’re away. My goal is always to make pets feel secure and cared for, and to give owners peace of mind knowing everything is in good hands.
About: Hi! My dog Enzo and I enjoy hiking around Tahoe. I would love to take your fur friend on all of the adventures with us! I usually spend my days off wandering in the woods and playing at the lake. I can offer as much or as little activity as needed, feeding times flexible, house rules flexible (furniture/no furniture, crate/free roaming) depending on your home routines. I would also be more than happy to take care of your pups while you’re out of town. Enzo and I can come to your place, or your dog can stay with us at ours. I am often off work for a week at a time. My schedule is variable because I work in health care. When I am not at the hospital working, I can dedicate the whole day to hanging with the pups Dogs will stay in the house with frequent potty breaks. We have a morning and evening walk each day at the very least - most days I try to spend the majority of the day outside with hikes and lake days

About: I’ve been around cats since I was born! I love them and their variety of personalities. I love to give cats as much—or as little- attention as they crave at the moment. I understand that different cats have different diets and also the litter box needs to be kept clean.
“Claire was responsive, responsible, kind and friendly! Although it was a last minute, she was so pleasant to accept our request. Both kitties were well and healthy when we came home. They really liked you, too! Thank you very much.”

“Jared was great - he was incredibly flexible and knew how to handle dogs. Nala is a little picky and can get snappy with dogs, so I was a little worried, but everything went incredibly smoothly. He was very communicative - he responded immediately whenever I messaged him. Jared was also incredibly accommodating, he was willing to meet up with wherever was convenient with me when dropping of Nala. I would definitely ask Jared to look after Nala again.”

About: I currently work from home, previously I was a Veterinarian Technician. I have experience with dog and cat companions. I work closely and constantly with improving the quality of life for animals. I was devastated the first time I witnessed an animals death which took place in India and was left wondering if we as humans have done everything we can to have provided for our fellow friends. This experience led me to dedicating my life to improving the health and well being of animals. This was the start of Karma Animal Trust, which I travel to India every year to assist in Veterinary care and fund raising all year long. As a co-founder and volunteer of Karma Animal Trust in India, I take action to help ease and eliminate the suffering of animals of Rishikesh. We provide emergency care and run spay/neuter programs. My volunteer time is my way of giving back to the animal world. My passion for them is what brings out the best in me. I'm qualified to help you with your companion because of the various types of dogs I've worked with professionally. I have experience with Military Working Dogs, rescue shelter dogs, Alaskan husky sled dogs, stray dogs as well as patients at the animal hospital I worked at. It is clear to me that I should devote myself to such work, and would love nothing more than to provide a happy life full of love and adventure for any and all dogs that I can. I realize just how fragile life can be and take full responsibility for every moment I am with a canine. I graduated with a degree in medicine and am currently in education of veterinary medicine. Can't wait to meet your pup! My schedule is flexible as I work from home. I can rearrange dates and times according to the owners individual needs for their beloved pets. “Kathy was wonderful from the start and I wouldn't hesitate to have our dog Samson stay with her again. She is very communicative and has a wonderful, calming vibe that I can imagine is great for the dogs. Samson spent the day playing with her sweet dog, Gypsy, and we loved getting photos throughout the day of them together. We were in town for a wedding and there were no problems picking him up late, that's so rare and much appreciated. Only wish we lived here so Samson could hang with Kathy and Gypsy more often!”

“Julia was absolutely wonderful with our 9 yr old Shar Pei. I contacted her 3 days before I needed someone and she responded immediately. She was professional, trustworthy and I could tell she loved our dog. She even put 2 heavy furniture boxes in our garage for us. We would be happy to have her watch our dog again anytime!”

About: Hi, I’m Annette! I’m a reliable, attentive dog sitter based in Incline Village with a flexible schedule and a calm, grounded approach to care. My goal is to ensure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and well-attended to, whether through neighborhood walks, quality time at home, or overnight companionship. I focus on providing a peaceful and structured environment for the pets in my care. Because of this, I am a great fit for dogs who enjoy a relaxed pace and steady routine, though I may not be the best match for those requiring highly intensive outdoor exercise or off-leash adventure outings. Being based in Incline Village with a flexible consulting schedule means I can get to most local neighborhoods quickly for drop-ins or walks This allows me to be highly responsive to your pet’s needs, whether that’s a last-minute drop-in or staying at your home to keep your pet company during the day. Since I set my own hours, your pet’s routine becomes my priority. I believe pets are family members who deserve the same respect and care as any other resident. In a client’s home, my priority is maintaining the 'status quo' to minimize stress. I start by learning your pet’s specific cues, favorite hiding spots, and unique quirks. Whether it’s following a precise feeding ritual or ensuring the exact level of evening companionship they are used to, I treat your home and your pet with the utmost integrity. I am naturally observant and communicative, so you’ll receive regular updates and photos that capture your pet’s true comfort level.

“Nayla was amazing with Taquito! She asked a bunch of questions to make sure she knew how to best handle Taquito (on/off leash, if she liked the water, how to best feed, etc) and Taquito was immediately comfortable around her and her pup which is always a relief. She was communicative, sent us a bunch of pictures and flexible with scheduling pick up and drop off. Taquito had the best time and I highly recommend Nayla!”

“Christina was our little pup Shazam’s very first sitter over a decade ago during the dogvaycay.com days but when it transitioned to Rover, we couldn’t find her until just recently. So happy to have found her again and our now senior little guy Shazam still loved his time with her after all these years!”

“Megan was so great! It was our first time using Rover for our two senior Malamutes, and I was very nervous leaving our fur babies in a new place. She not only was wonderful with them, but also with me and my anxiety! She provided a lot of pictures and reassurance that they were doing well. She helped one of my dogs with a scraped nose, and even tried to brush them (they weren’t on board). Megan also has a stocked house with dog supplies, as we didn’t even think to bring anything besides the dogs and food (like when we boarded at a facility). They came home less anxious and with zero issues, unlike the last few times we boarded them at our usual place. Thank you Megan!”

“Bella LOVES to stay with April and Rachel. They include her and love her as their own and part of their family. She is always well cared for and loved. April and Rachel are diligent with safety and making sure Bella feels loved and secure. Bella loves to visit and play with the other dogs staying and their own dog Honey. She also loves to snuggle with and play with their daughter. I never ever worry when Bella is with them and sometimes thinks she likes it better at their house!! Elyse”

“Susan and her family were incredible! We have never left our boys with anyone who isn't family, but Susan took care of them as if they were. If you are looking for some place for your dogs to get plenty of love and attention while you are away, I absolutely recommend Susan! We have already booked our next stay with her.”

“Aaron knew Zeus from walking him previously, so we were thrilled when he was willing & able to have Zeus stay in his home while we were away. Thank you Aaron and family for taking such good care of our mutt.”

“Jacob and his fiancée did such a wonderful job taking care of Teddy! He provided photos and updates often and I was confident he was being well taken care of. My puppy always looked so happy and like he was always having so much fun!”
