“Bertie our Cocker Spaniel has just returned from a weeks stay with Evellin and Gabrielle, he has had the best time and been thoroughly spoilt! This was our first time using Rover and I was a little apprehensive but Evellin put me totally at ease, we had a meet and greet session at their beautiful home and within minutes Bertie was comfortable enough to be lying on his back for a belly rub. Great communication and pictures whilst away. Bertie is already looking forward to his next visit. Thank you”

“Thank you to Jakub’s lovely family for looking after Toby so well. They are experienced and flexible, it was easy and worry free leaving our dog with them, we appreciated the regular updates and know Toby was treated like one of the family. I will definitely rebook Jakub in the future if we need to go away without Toby. Highly recommended. Thank you.”

“This was the first time for Bess to stay away from home after being with us as a rescue throughout Lockdown and we were worried as to how she would be but we needn’t have worried. Linda is a very experienced greyhound owner and gave her lots of love and attention . Although it was only for 2 nights it was great to get photos and a message from Linda too. I am sure that next time Bess will be happy to stay with Linda again! It is so nice to have peace of mind when your “fur baby” is left in such capable hands!”

“Hayley is highly recommended! She loved and cared for 10 month old Louie as if her own dog. The other lovely host (2 year old) has clearly been taught how to be around dogs and Lou apparently enjoyed playing with him and another boarding dog. We received regular communication photos and videos. Louie clearly felt very much at home. Hayley managed Louie’s separation anxiety despite it being a challenge and made no complaints. Really hope Hayley and her little boy welcome Louie back in future.”

“Papaya loved her time with Sarah. I was updated regularly with photos and messages. Sarah and her family are absolutely great and I am so happy I found d an absolutely great sitter for my dog.”

“Carla and Jim looked after our 6 month old puppy for the weekend and we couldn’t have been happier with the love and care our Betsy received. We had lots of pupdates with pictures and could see our fur baby was really cared for. We will definitely be using these lovely people again and would highly recommend them.”

“We have never left our cockerpoo off with anyone but family! but Stacey was brilliant. Oliver had a lovely time with Stacey’s family, he loves children and other dogs so he was in his element! Thank you for giving us a worry free break where we knew Oliver was in good hands by receiving photos and messages throughout the stay. 10/10 service would highly recommend. Stacey also took this booking very last minute with very quick responses which is very much appreciated! Thank you for looking after Bobby !”

“Caesar had a great time with Jan and Bruce. They were so accommodating with my request at last minute. Will definitely have them look after Caesar again in the future!!!”

“I couldn’t recommend Christina more! She made Otto feel at home in her house and he had a great time. Christina provided regular updates and photos which we loved!”

“Chester had another great stay with Rachel and Jason, they provided lots of updates and photos, all of which Chester looked like he was having so much fun! We would definitely recommend Rachel and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you guys!”

“Boot was well looked after by Jane and he seemed very happy when I collected him. Jane sent lots of photos and updates of what he was up to and I was confident that he was in a good place. I will use Jane again.”

“Kelly and her family were fantastic! It was my first time using Rover but it was perfect. I was kept updated with messages and pictures throughout the week I was away which was perfect and Kelly listened to everything that was needed as my dog has specific food allergies. I would definitely use again, thank you!”

“If u ever need to leave your baby-dog even for a short or long time, then do Not hesitate- Eszter is the best person to do so. She is very ,carrying, loving dogs and very professional. She looked after my 2 dogs and they where having a great time . She was communicating with me all the time while i was away. Sending lots of photos of my baby's-dogs , so I was aware whats is happening with them .fantastic service. 101%”

“We’re so grateful to Tracey and her family for looking after our two dogs while we were away. They kept us updated almost daily with pictures and videos, which really put our minds at ease as it was our first time leaving our dogs with someone for more than a day. We loved seeing the dogs enjoying their walks, their trip to the beach, and settling in so well. They clearly felt at home and got on well with the family members and their dog. Thank you again for taking such good care of them — we couldn’t have asked for more! Will definitely come back to you for when we're next away!”

“Harley thoroughly enjoyed his day & Night with you and your family…. He is currently spark out in the garden which is wonderful as he is normally tearing around the garden looking for mischief! The updates were fab and we know he loved his day… Thank you so much for taking such great care of our boy and we will be back to book you in the future… 😊”

“My Golden Retriever puppy had a wonderful stay with Jess and was very happy and serene when I picked him up. Jess sent me regular updates and took my puppy on lots of walks. I'm looking forward to organising another sitting.”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
