Shawna and Dave are simply the best. Honestly, I only ever truly relax when my dog is staying with them. I know they love her like their own and give her the absolute best attention—she even comes home knowing new tricks! Thank you both for taking such amazing care of our furry family member.

About: What sets me apart is my focus on real-life results and clear communication. I don’t just teach cues — I help dogs understand how to make better choices in everyday situations. I pay close attention to body language and stress signals, break skills into manageable steps, and build reliability around real-world distractions. My goal isn’t just obedience — it’s confidence, clarity, and a stronger relationship between you and your dog.

I have 2 frenchies. Absolute assholes. But Leah is so good with them and all animals honestly. There is no one else I would trust my dogs with.

Rosa was a lifeline for me when I was struggling with my (at the time) 6-month-old German Shepherd puppy. Over the course of seven private sessions, Rosa gave me and Biscuit concrete exercises to work on that helped me manage what had felt overwhelming and at times even impossible. But more importantly, Rosa's commitment to positive reinforcement training helped me see my dog with new eyes. I learned to appreciate that Biscuit's reactions were valuable cues, not nuisances, and that improved our relationship so much. I would not hesitate to recommend Rosa to anyone, from first-time guardians to seasoned handlers, looking to explore positive ways of training your dog!

I’ve had the pleasure of observing Kyla training dogs on many occasions, whether it be a working dog doing explosives detection training, protection work, narcotics detection or training her own personal pets for basic obedience and commands. Kyla is consistent, innovative and firm, all while demonstrating patience, playfulness and a great desire for each animal to succeed in training. She has a vast knowledge of animal behaviors and body language which has aided her in being such a successful handler and trainer.

Tess is very organized trainer . The first session demonstrated immediate results and was left with a pamphlet of explanations and exercise. Well done. Buffy will be much better because this training protocol is so well orchestrated

About: My training approach goes beyond surface-level issues by focusing on the whole dog to address the root of behaviors. I consider body language, routine, environment, exercise, mental stimulation, nutrition, social history, and family dynamics, because real change happens when all factors are addressed. Since it’s tough to remember every detail from each session, I provide detailed notes with purchase links, training reminders, a homework list, and clear instructions developed over hundreds of hours.

Frequently asked questions about Dog Training on Rover

To list on Rover, trainers must:

Pass a third-party background check

Show proof of education or certification in dog training

Commit to rewards-based training

Rewards-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes, including treats, play, or toys. Rewards-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.

When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human-animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.

Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.

Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!

No problem! When you initially contact a trainer, you will be prompted to select a proposed first session date — this is not final, and is confirmed only if both parties decide to move forward. We also recommend contacting multiple trainers to make sure you find a trainer that is the right fit for you and your pet.

Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.

Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.

Review a trainer's profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact them to ensure they're the right trainer for you and your pet.
