Laura, Brian, and Bailey were the best sitters for our 7 year old, German Shepherd. We booked last minute for the holiday weekend and they took such good care of Skylar! Laura was very responsive leading up to dropping Skylar off. They have a dog friendly place including a great yard. I received daily photo and text updates. I knew it must have been a good weekend because Skylar fell asleep right when we got home. I highly recommend Laura, Brian, and Bailey! I would absolutely use their boarding service again.

Our dogs loved staying with Skye! They got to go on many walks, explore outside, and even sleep on the couch. Skye sent texts with photos and updates throughout the time we were away, giving me peace about how they were doing. The dogs seemed comfortable at Skye’s and I felt fine leaving my babies in her care.

Bounder had a lot of separation anxiety, Roseanne had,him in the groove in one day. She is definitely the one to take care of your fur children. I don't know if Bounder is going to want to leave

Emmillie was absolutely amazing with our dog, Kaido. You could tell by his demeanor that he was treated well. He was happy when I picked him up and it seemed he had made himself right at home! He doesn't always warm up to people so the fact that he was so comfortable with Emmillie in the 1 night he stayed, means a ton!

Charlie was great! Very attentive and knowledgeable about dogs and much more. Absolutely gave my boy a little vacation and toured him the sites and spots all over. Really enjoyed all the picture and video updates as well. I’d recommend Charlie to anyone who wants the best for their pet while they are away.

Katlyn exceeded all our expectations! I am so grateful we found her on Rover. Leaving on a trip is stressful and worrying about our pets adds to it all. Our dog, Sid, had such a great time that I wasn't sure he would want to leave her house when we arrived home. Katlyn was great at communicating with us; she gave us updates and photos every day. I highly recommend her services!!

Cory watched our 3-month old puppy Willa for a few nights, and we had such a great experience with her. She had us come over to meet Willa before we booked officially, and made us feel so comfortable, letting us see her house and where Willa would be, and taking Willa for a little stroll around the block with us. She kept us updated the whole time Willa was there, sending photos and little notes which made us feel SO much better as it was our first time being away from our puppy! Cory also really cared about our schedule with Willa and wanted to keep up the training we'd been doing with her. She asked tons of detailed questions which I really appreciated. We already have her booked again for the holidays! We're so grateful we found her.

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life, and caring for pets has always been second nature to me. From energetic puppies to senior pets who need a little extra patience, I understand that every animal has its own personality, routine, and needs. Over the years, friends and family have consistently trusted me to care for their pets as if they were my own—whether that means daily walks, overnight stays, administering basic care, or simply providing companionship and love. I take pride in being a dependable, compassionate sitter who creates a calm, safe, and happy environment while you’re away. I have a 4-yr old dog now named, Buckaroo, who is amazing with a majority of dogs. I work remotely for Aya Healthcare, a nurse and Locums management company. I am free to get away to walk your pet, or even stay at your place overnight and work from there. Plenty of schedule flexibility. I provide personalized, attentive care based on each pet’s routine and the specific service requested. Whether caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining their normal schedule for feeding, walks, playtime, and rest to help reduce stress. I ensure a safe, clean environment, give plenty of affection and exercise, and closely monitor behavior, appetite, and overall well-being. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and follow all instructions carefully, including administering basic medications if needed. My goal is always to make pets feel comfortable, secure, and loved while giving owners peace of mind.

About: I grew up with a golden retriever and had a Heeler mix for 16 years that traveled cross country with me. I’ve got great experience with elderly dogs and young dogs alike. My fiancé and I are home quite a bit with fenced yard, but love to hike in the area to make sure dogs get all the exercise they need! I have mornings off, so plenty of time for walks and hikes. My fiancé is a ski coach with summers off and is home most of the day to hang with the dogs. I have a fully fenced yard to play in with plenty of sunshine. Plenty of time spent at home to socialize and exercise! Morning and evening walks close to parks and hiking.

Emily was so great!! She watched our golden retriever who has a lot of energy and my dog was so tired and happy when I picked her up. Her dogs are so sweet and had so much fun with my dog, and I felt like Emily was really caring and understanding of some diet needs she has. I’ll definitely board with her again!

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - The Dalles

What a wonderful spot and such a kind and gracious couple. Samantha and Colton watched our standard poodle on a last minute booking. Scout loved her stay! She puttered around the farm, played with Mosely, their sweet and cheerful aussie, and was happy relaxed girl when we picked her up. The property is spacious, safe and so cool! Samantha and Colton are in the process of developing a beautiful vineyard along the Columbia River called, The Narrows. They shared a bottle with us and it is fantastic. Samantha kindly told us about the history of the property, showed us the progress they have made thus far, and shared their future plans. I would be thrilled to leave Scout there again and hope to visit once the winery is fully up and running. A great experience all around. I highly recommend Samantha and Colton for your 4-legged famiy member. Five stars all around!

Katlyn and her pack (of sweet, well behaved dogs) were a perfect match for my two Aussiedoodles. She let the girls come in and settle in and then off to the races. I loved how attentive she was in keeping me informed about their days and also sending pictures. It’s hard leaving our furbabies, but I was at great peace knowing they were in great, caring hands. We will definitely be booking with Katlyn again.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their The Dalles home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
