About: I’ve taken care of dogs for as long as I can remember. My own dogs, my neighbors have asked me to drop in while they were on vacation, and my parents friends have had me dog and house sit while they were away. I take the time to get to know what the pets need instead of taking a one size fits all approach. I’m available all week, whatever time. I’m not working any other jobs so I’m available whenever pets need it or pet parents want an extra check in or reassurance. I make sure they’re comfortable, whether that’s in a crate or just on a bed, constantly check their food and water, and make sure they’re good and tired before I stop playing with them.
About: I had multiple dogs all of my life and have taken care of horses and barn cats. Love all animals and want to make sure that they are doing amazing while you are away. I have pet sitted on and off over the years for friends and even flew to Las Vegas to petsit for an extended weekend. I’m currently working full time but can do late night drop ins, walks and am available any time on the weekends. Typically on the weekends I am free/flexible for any time, except the few times I’m out of town. Before letting pets out in fenced areas I double check gates are closed and latched before letting out. For any pets that are walked I ensure that they are leashed before heading out the door and do not take the leash off until inside with the door closed. I have an escape artist of myself at home so I know what to look for. I can easily place your pet in a crate before leaving if that is necessary.
“Sketcher did great housesitting our anxious 2 yr old dog and 11 yr old indoor cat. She was good at communicating promptly during booking and during the stay. We came home to happy pets and everything was as expected.”

“Lillie is so awesome! I think my pup wanted to go home with her she treated her so well! She took such good care of all our animals and our home as well! Left everyone and everything better than we left it! We’ll definitely use her next time!”

“Jesse was an incredible sitter for our 18 year old Chihuahua with daily Medication needs!! It was Rocco’s first Rover experience and when we came home from date night, Rocco was CALM, rested and HAPPY. :) He’s a VERY VERY PICKY CUSTOMER so JESSE made this worried Dog Mama Very RELIEVED and Thankful! We Will BOOK AGAIN!”

About: I have always loved animals and have grown up caring for them, whether they were my own pets or those of friends and family. I'm very experienced in caring for different pet personalities and will take every step to make sure your pets are comfortable and well cared for. I especially have experience caring for senior pets who may need medication. I also enjoy walking and will make sure your dogs get all the exercise and playtime they need to stay happy and healthy. Caring for pets means a lot to me, and I would love the opportunity to care for your pets, whether they're a cat or a dog. I currently work Monday through Thursday, but I am available to watch your pets Friday through Sunday. I will also be starting school in two weeks, and my schedule will be much more flexible then. I can walk your dogs around your neighborhood or play with them in your home and yard. Your dogs will never go unsupervised and I will do what you are comfortable with.
“We were happy to find Tyler to help take care of our two pets while we were away on a family trip. From initial correspondence to doing a meet and greet and then having him pet sit was a great experience. He was responsive and sent us updates. We felt at ease knowing our beloved pets were in good hands! We will certainly use him again if timing works out.”

“Laycie was absolutely wonderful with our pup, Loki! She was incredibly communicative throughout her stay and sent us daily pictures, which made our day to see how much fun he was having! Laycie was also respectful of our space and left everything incredibly clean and tidy. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and communicative sitter—we would absolutely book with her again!”

About: Dogs really do make the world go round! Spending time with dogs is something I genuinely enjoy and miss while I am at school. Whether your pup loves long walks and playtime or prefers a slower pace and plenty of cuddles, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m patient, dependable, and energetic. As a former Division I athlete, punctuality, responsibility, and consistency are second nature to me. I’ll follow your instructions closely, keep you updated, and make sure your dog receives the attention, exercise, and care that fit their individual needs. It would be an honor to care for your fur-child. I’m excited to meet your big or little one and treat them like my own!😊 I’m currently a student getting my master's at Clemson, after graduating from Stanford this past spring. While I do have my hands full with academics and working a 9-5, I am looking forward to having a break in my day, and the weekends to care for a furry friend. Dogs make me happy! I am at the clients request, how they wish I care for their dog is up to their discrepancy. I am in an apartment, so I can’t host your dog, however I am willing and able to care for them in your home if you choose :)
“Timothy went above and beyond taking care of our 3 dogs. He sent status updates & photos each day. We felt totally at ease and knew our pups and home were in good hands while we were away.”

“Mackenzie took wonderful care of our pets! She sent us updates and pictures. We came home to happy dogs and cat, and a clean home. Highly recommend choosing her to care for your pets!”

About: I personally have had pets my whole life and love interacting and learning their behaviors. I love the company of a pet and will definitely adjust to what ever needs are needed for your specific pet! I currently go to Clemson University, studying biology. With that my weekdays are pretty packed, but Friday, Saturday, and Sundays are free for me! On Mondays and Wednesday, I end class at 2 PM so definitely have time from 2 PM to the next day until 10 AM. I will adjust myself based on your pets needs! I have a gated fence and can take them on walks around campus or parks. If needing me to buy certain items, it will add charge!
“Johnie is amazing!! We received daily updates, photos and videos. Our pup was well cared for and spoiled. We returned to a spotless home with laundry done, folded and trash taken out. We would love to have Johnie petsit for us again.”

“Kimberly was amazing! I had her watch my 2 pups while I was on vacation, and was nervous because I’ve never used rover before. She kept me updated the entire time I was away, spent a lot of time with my dogs, and sent many pictures! I was relieved to have someone that truly cares watch them. She also went above and beyond, and made sure my house and sheets were clean for me when I got back. Would 100% recommended her to anyone”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tamassee walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tamassee maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tamassee choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tamassee. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
