“Becca was extraordinary. She took exceptional care of my cats, she communicated beautifully, sent pictures of my special needs babies so I knew they were okay, spent extra time with my neediest boy. I wish I could give her a million stars because she was that good. I WILL hire her again to take care of everyone because she was so responsive and responsible that I know my kidlets are in terrific hands!”

“Dawn is such a good pet sitter. Our cats are normally very reclusive around new people, but took to her immediately. We couldn’t recommend her more and will absolutely use her in the future.”

About: I have been pet sitting for the last 5 years as well as being a nanny for 4 children aged newborn to 5 years old. During my time pet sitting I have worked with single dogs as well as up to 4 dogs in a single household. I love playing with and entertaining the higher-energy extroverted pets and enjoy quiet cuddle-time with the more laid-back, philosophical ones. In addition to pet sitting, I have learned a lot about interacting with all sorts of personalities in mobile pet grooming business. **For the foreseeable future, I'm searching for an additional part-time job, so my availability for overnight stays, daily check-ins, and dog-walking may vary from situation to situation. I will communicate proactively and adhere to all the house rules and keep your pet's routine as consistent as possible to reduce your pet's anxiety at your absence. I am a considerate house-guest and will wash any dishes or towels/washcloths that I might use as well.

About: I was an on-the-job trained vet tech for 6 years and loved every minute of it! I ended up transitioning to the human medicine world, and have been in the ER almost 11 years. From axolotls to parrots, I have had all kinds of experience with pet-keeping! Animals will always be my passion 🐾🩷 I work second shift at the ER, so my schedule is very sporadic! I’m pretty flexible on my days off though. On days I work, I’m happy to come pet sit before or after my shift. I have a fenced in yard, two sweet dogs and 3 friendly cats that would be around! I’m happy to kennel or keep pets separated if needed though.

“Gabrielle is absolutely fantastic. She was on time, provided detailed check ins and photos, went out of her way to be extra attentive to our fur baby! Over all we were extremely happy with the level of care provided! Highly recommend booking with her.”

About: I have been an animal lover for life and a dog owner for two years. Before that I have been a dog sitter several times in the UK, where I am from. About: Hello! My Name is Justin Gardner. I have resided on a large tract of pristine farm land located 20 miles north of Asheville, sitting perfectly between Weaverville and Marshall. For anyone looking to give their dog a true country getaway, this is a paradise. If your pup doesn't always get the chance to fully experience nature, our wide-open spaces to explore and a fully fenced-off yard offer the ultimate safe freedom. Dogs have been a central part of my life since early childhood, and that lifelong passion continues today with our own beloved resident dogs. We understand dog behavior, respect their individual routines, and treat every guest like a member of the family. Whether your dog loves to run wide-open spaces or just wants to sniff the mountain air and lounge on the porch, they will find their perfect rhythm here. Working primarily from home allows me to provide attentive, full-time care and regular outdoor exercise. I can host overnight (Short or Long term) boarding seamlessly as long as owners provide their dog's personal items and necessary accommodations, allowing your pup to enjoy a safe, country retreat with all the comforts of home. Safety and socialization go hand-in-hand here. My dog Rocco, a friendly Catahoula Leopard Hound, has six years of excellent experience interacting with other dogs and is always eager to welcome new playmates. Playtime in our fully fenced yard is entirely supervised, and I can easily crate your dog for meals or bedtime to ensure a structured, safe stay.
“Maria is great! My pup, Symone, loved her immediately and I could tell from all the pics how happy she was with Maria ❤️ it made me feel so relieved to know my pets were in good hands! Will book again!”

“Alex did an absolutely amazing job with my animals while we were out of town getting married. He was completely unfazed by 4 dogs and a cat, all running wild. He took such great care of all of them, sent the most adorable pictures of them, so we never had to stress that our babies were in good hands. Phenomenal job, we will gladly have Alex come back again any time we need a sitter ♥️”

I’ve been a trusted house and pet sitter since 2018, originally serving families in southern Western North Carolina and now proudly offering my care for homes and pets here in Burnsville! In addition to pet care, I am a professional makeup artist in the wedding industry. My artistry career allows for a flexible schedule, making this a true dream duo profession. Both roles require attentiveness, discretion, reliability, and a calm presence- qualities I bring into every home I care for. I’m a big animal lover and this work nourishes my soul. I understand my rates may be higher than some providers on the platform. They reflect my experience, the personalized attention I provide, and the care I take with both pets and homes. I am deeply committed to maintaining your pet’s established routines so they feel secure, steady, and completely at ease in their own environment. I also take exceptional pride in how I leave a home. During overnight stays, I thoughtfully maintain lived-in areas, refresh sheets, and ensure spaces feel orderly and cared for upon your return. I tend to go above and beyond- because I believe your home should feel just as welcoming as when you left it. I offer a limited number of recurring weekly walks. I’m experienced with leash-trained dogs, E-collar systems, and properly trained off-leash work when safe and appropriate. In my previous community, I maintained consistent walking schedules with select families- something I genuinely enjoyed and look forward to establishing again here in the Lowcountry. Pet care is intentionally woven into my routine, and I carefully book my calendar to ensure each client receives dependable, attentive service. Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
