I am delighted to give this dog sitter a 5-star review. They took exceptional care of my fur baby while I was away. Their communication was excellent, providing regular updates and photos which reassured me that my dog was in good hands. They went the extra mile to make my dog feel at ease and loved, and it showed when I returned home to a happy and content pup. I will definitely be using their services again in the future, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a responsible and caring dog sitter. Thank you for your outstanding service!

About: I have been caring for pets for 30 years. Not only my own pets, but our friends and families pets. I have rescued many dogs and cats over the years and even a bird or two. The pets have been puppies to seniors. I have trained many to use a bell at the door to go outside and go potty. I can do some basic training.. I have kept up with their training, started training for puppies being held for Christmas gifts, etc.I promise to love, care and cuddle your pets as l do mine. I have always been a stay at home mom since adopting my children. Now that they are 20 and 21, I’m just a homebody. I am able to tend to your babies 24/7. In my home, I will separate my pets as people bring in theirs. When the owners leave, I will introduce them one at a time. I can administer their medicine, do some light grooming, take on walks, and my schnauzer says he will let them play with his ball thrower. Oh, and pets will never be fed together.

About: I’ve had my own 3 dogs for the last 6 years. Before that, I would take care of my friends animals. I often dog sit and cat sit for close friends and family. Figured I would do it on here, too! I have trained all of my dogs, nothing crazy. Just the basics. One of my dogs does have health issues and another has really bad allergies so I definitely know what it’s like to have a certain routine per animal. All my animals needs are different and I’m here to provide that to lessen your stress ☺️ All day, all night!!! I am also able to travel. I drive a lot so I don’t mind if I have to travel a bit. I would love for the pet owners to give me a run down no matter what! Even if your animal is low maintenance. My dogs are high maintenance so I’m also used to that. I just like specific instructions, I feel it makes it easier for everyone involved! Especially if I’m pet sitting in your home. That’s your safe space.

About: I’ve spent over 20 years caring for pets, and I truly believe they’re family—not just animals. I’m a proud owner of four high-energy dogs, so I’m very comfortable with active breeds, strong personalities, and pups who need both structure and affection. Whether it’s playtime, walks, or quiet companionship, I treat every pet in my care as if they were my own—because that’s how I’d want mine treated. I work from home - my role is very autonomous which comes with a lot of flexibility during the day to help care for your pet. I care for your pets in your home according to your preferences, routines, and safety guidelines. I understand how important trust is when welcoming someone into your space. I have four dogs of my own who are family, and I provide that same level of attentive, respectful care to your pets while maintaining a safe and calm environment.

About: I’ve never had a pet of my own but intention, agility, compassion and fun is the heart I lead with animals as a whole. I love meeting new fur friends. I volunteer with a pet adoption program Wednesday’s & Friday’s at Pet smart. I have church Sunday morning’s until 1pm. Every other day of my week is pretty open until I am reemployed. I am actively trying to become a professional groomer. I’m working on being CPR/First Aid for cats and dogs. I’m not stranger to family and neighborhood pets and my hands on training with pets is continuous. I plan to always give an update on the areas I grow in. I’ve only ever nested chickens in my home. I’ve never had a pet, cat or dog, but my home remains clean and well maintained. Very air sufficient as well. There is no negligence in my home. Whenever I’ve pet sat for family, I follow through with the instructions and notes given to me to treat their pets needs. Frequent updates are always made. The home is always how they left it if not better and the fur baby is well taken cared of.

Robert continues to be an exceptional sitter, and this visit was a perfect example of why we trust him with our pets. What could have been a very stressful stay included both a dog escape and a cat scratch, yet Robert handled everything calmly, professionally, and with grace. His communication throughout the entire situation was outstanding. He kept us informed, acted quickly when our dog made an unexpected adventure out of the yard, and managed the challenges without ever making us feel panicked. He was transparent, responsible, and focused on keeping everyone safe. Things don’t always go according to plan when caring for animals, and it’s during those moments that a sitter’s character really shows. Robert demonstrated exactly the kind of judgment, reliability, and dedication we look for. We’re grateful for the care he provided and wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sumter. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
