Amelia is the best!! She takes such good care of our 3 dogs. I highly recommend Amelia if you need a loving, trusting and caring sitter for your fur babies. She sends photos, is always responsive if we need to talk and she asks questions when needed. Thank you for taking care of our home and animals, Amelia! :-)

Sarah did a great job for us. We have a very large active young German Shepherd and another midsize dog. Everything at the house was just as we asked and the dogs did not destroy anything. She communicated well with us during the trip and made good decisions on her own. We will definitely be using her again.

Daisy was so great with our babies while we were away. She stayed at our house and took care of our dog, cat, bearded dragon, and chickens. She was dependable and respectful. While we were away, a freeze came through and she even took the time to take care of our pipes so they wouldn't be damaged. We highly recommend Daisy, and would definitely book again.

About: Currently, I am a first year veterinary student at Texas A&M. With that I work with dogs and cats daily, medically and behaviorally. I have experience with giving medications, dog walking, cleaning cages, and taking care of multiple dogs at once. While in school, I have also been volunteering at my local animal shelter, so I have many years of dog and cat experience. With the diverse experiences that I have, I am able to completely tailor my visits with your pets to their needs. I love taking care of animals and will ensure that they get all the attention you would usually give them. One of my goals within veterinary medicine is to offer low cost services to ensure that every pet has the opportunity to be taken care of. I love serving my community and I am a compassionate and loving care taker. Your pet(s) will be in great hands! I currently a full time student, so while I’m in school I will only be able to care for your pet before 8am and after 5pm. On the weekends, I can be very flexible since most of my days are spent studying. Specifically I would be able to check on pets every 4 hours or so if needed. I am even more available and flexible during breaks from school. During breaks, it’s all dependent on what kind of care your pet needs but I am adaptable and a quick learner. While caring for your pets in your home, I am willing to spend extra time playing with or just cuddling so they have extra human interaction. I also have toys I can bring if needed as well! I will also update you every time I am there so you know who is coming into your home, and I take every precaution to ensure that your pets and home are safe while you’re away. I can be adaptable to whatever situation you are in!

Emily sat for my 5 pets over the weekend at my house and was the dream petsitter. I've been using Rover for 10 years and she is one of the great ones who you try to rebook every time you need a sitter. She was extremely conscientious about the routines of each pet, used great judgment when random things arose (one of the pets is a puppy, another one is an escape-artist cat). Most of all, I could tell that she wasn't trying to avoid being at my house which sometimes is a sense I get with others. She's kind, patient, mature, hard working, and respectful. Just a dream. Thank you Emily!

Julie made our trip so much easier knowing we left Max in caring, capable hands. He always sulks when we leave & doesn’t eat well but it only took a day before he was eating well. Our house was clean and had been well taken care of. We will definitely use Julie again and have already recommended her to several friends.

About: I’ve had dogs for over 10 years, having 5 at one time. personally I have big dogs but I also love little dogs just as much! Currently, I am unemployed. I will be able to work whenever you’ll need and as much as I can. I like having my weekends but I don’t mind having to take care of some pups those days as well. I do have 3 dogs at the house, as well as the yard being fenced. If needed, my boys can be either put in my room or even to the old house while we still have it

About: I’m currently a student at Texas A&M, and even with my classes, I keep a very open and flexible schedule for pet care. I’ve grown up with animals my entire life, and I’ve been pet sitting for other families since I was a freshman in high school. Whether it’s walking, feeding, playtime, or just keeping your pet comfortable, I’m reliable, patient, and genuinely love caring for all kinds of animals. Pet care fits perfectly into my schedule because I only have one class each day and work part-time at the Lincoln Recreation Center. I’m also a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, but outside of those commitments my schedule is wide open. That flexibility makes it easy for me to be available for walks, drop-ins, or longer pet-sitting stays whenever needed. I always prioritize each pet’s safety and comfort, whether they’re staying in my home or I’m caring for them in yours. I follow all routines you provide, keep a clean and pet-friendly environment, and ensure they’re never left unsupervised in unsafe situations. I take time to earn their trust so they feel relaxed, secure, and happy throughout their stay.

About: I have about 7 years of professional experience working with animals (medicating, bathing, kenneling, etc.) as well as growing up with at least one dog and cat in the house, I currently have 3 fur babies myself an English Bulldog named Kujo, a Domestic Shorthair names Ramen Noodles and a Domestic Medium hair named Nimbus. Along with my 3 babies I am also a Veterinary Technician. I am around dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes 24/7 medicating and loving on while they are under my supervision! I am constantly snuggling and playing with my personal pets and I am the exact same way with the patients at my job. Just because the babies at work may not come home with me I always treat them as if they were my own.

FAQs for House Sitting - Steep Hollow

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Steep Hollow on Rover is $32.1 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 289 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Steep Hollow. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Steep Hollow walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Steep Hollow maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Steep Hollow choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Steep Hollow. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
