“If you're looking for a Veterinary Technician to make a housecall, I recommend engaging Emily. She came promptly as scheduled and administered medications to our visiting elderly kitty saving me from having to load up the cat and drive to vet appointment at a much, much greater cost in time, effort and money. I will definitely use her services again.”

“Everything went great with Trina's drop in visits to care for my 2 cats. I wasn't sure how they would do with strangers but they seem to have warmed up to her very quickly. I've already booked Trina again for a longer period next month.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs(my own) and others since I was 10. Recently adopted a 3 year old Malinois mix who is a sweetie and really good with other dogs. Since then I have interacted with a bunch of dogs and learned a lot. Our Malinois is trained and loves all types of dogs. We have taught her some tricks so maybe I can teach your dog some too 😎. I’m currently not working so your dog would be my primary job. I can take them to parks, on hikes or whatever requests are given I deeply respect every individual pet and their specific needs. Whether it’s taking them to the park or taking a nice stroll on the neighborhood so they have enough time to smell every plant, I take great care in every aspect of your pet’s stay/care with me. I live in an apartment, with plentiful grassy areas and park nearby, but also don’t mind going to a client’s house. At the end of the day, I care for every pet the same way I care for my own, with compassionate care and safety at the core.
“This was our first time having Alyssa as our house sitter and it was for quite a long stay. I’ve had some challenging experiences in the past, but Alyssa made me feel very secure in her ability to take care of all the animals. She was communicative, reliable and overall just had great energy about her. We feel really fortunate to have found her and we hope to use her in the future! Thank again Alyssa, we really appreciate you!”

“Taylor is AMAZING. Our goofy doggie, Marigold, and high maintenance queen, Luna kitty, LOVE her. Taylor is very attentive to their needs and spends time playing with them and giving plenty of snuggles & pets. She has been a lifesaver for this fur baby mama. I'm so grateful we found her!”

About: My love for dogs started when I was a kid—my grandpa taught me how to create gentle bonds with our family’s dogs. I became the one with the dog obsessed-personality and for two years I volunteered at the Animal Shelter in SLO, CA. It was so rewarding and all I ever want to do is make sure these animals always feel loved! Any time someone needs an amateur trainer, they call me! I love dogs, and want to make my passion for them into a career. Moving to Oregon has been a whirlwind, and I’m excited to continue working with the community and their furry friends! I’ve recently moved to Oregon and I’m ready to get back into dog-sitting for the time being! That means my availability is wide open and I can drop in for quick visits or weekend stays. My own experience with dogs is unorthodox to some; it’s their world and I just live in it. I love them inside and following me around and don’t mind them on furniture or in rooms. I have experience with crate training if that is what is preferred, as well as dog walking since we learned tactics in the animal shelter. I also like to expand on dog enrichment to keep their minds engaged as well as their bodies!
About: I was raised in a dog and cat household and loved taking care of them. For the brief time in my adulthood that I did not have a pet, I would dog/cat sit for a various families often. I am fond of elderly dogs/cats and have taken care a few (including giving medications, shots, cooking specific diets, etc). I am also comfortable feeding farm animals such as horses and mules. I work full-time from my home allowing flexible time to play and care for animals. My outings are usually quick errands around town so my pets get a lot of dog mom time! I am available to do longer stays given that I work remote and love making pets feel safe and comfortable whilst their owners are away. I have a fenced-in yard and 2 friendly dogs (lab and border collie mix) to keep your furry loved one company! I also play music often for myself and for the dogs. I find it helps soothe some anxiety for them as well!
About: I have lifelong experience caring for animals of all kinds! I grew up on a farm, where caring for horses, livestock, and other animals was simply part of everyday life. Today, I continue that passion by fostering dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens through my local humane society, giving animals a safe, loving place to grow and thrive until they find their forever homes. I also have experience caring for small animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits, so whether your family includes four hooves, four paws, or tiny whiskers, they'll be in capable hands. As a teacher, I'm patient, dependable, and attentive to routines and individual needs, and I know every animal has its own personality. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, senior, or needs a little extra care, I'll treat them like they're part of my own family and keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages so you can relax while you're away. My schedule is very flexible, allowing me to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, medication, or simply keeping them company, I enjoy making animal care a natural part of my daily routine and ensuring each pet feels safe, loved, and comfortable. Your pet's safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet's routine, personality, and any special needs so I can provide consistent, attentive care in a calm, loving environment. You can also expect regular updates and photos, so you'll always know your pet is happy and well cared for while you're away.

About: Know what it's like to own dogs since childhood. Tell me what they love, like, and hate. Love to bring gifts for the dog(s) anytime. Also been a great house sitter and pet sitter for my mother in the past when she visited grandkids for a week in California. As far in advance as possible since I also do crowd management seasonally but haven't worked since April 1st. P.S. A page from the daily calendar for Life Hacks encouraged me to join and I do know someone on Rover.com named Stephen. He's a dog sitter, owner, and trainer. P.P.S. Someone is moving into my condo on or before September 15th. She should have a cat. Therefore, it's best I only do pet and home sitting at the owner's place. I live in a condo on the ground level with a patio and a view of Mill Creek. I'd prefer to house and/or pet watch at your place. Someone with a cat is moving in on or by September 15th, 2026.

These smaller jobs work perfectly with my school schedule as I can offer care before my classes and after as well as on weekends. Additionally, I can also take on longer jobs! I may just need more time in advance to make sure our schedules align! I believe keeping your furry friend happy and healthy and safe is the highest priority! About: I've taken care of pets basically my whole life, especially cats, and I've also had a dog for a couple years. I'm always the first person my friends and family call when they need help with their pets. I stay well read on what's good for animals, from training to helping with anxiety, and I'm always willing to go the extra mile to make sure a pet is happy. They're living creatures who deserve just as much happiness as we do. In terms of training, I've helped a cat retrain to use the litter box after it regressed due to anxiety, working through the root cause rather than just the behavior itself. I've also reduced aggression in animals through consistent training. I'm willing to stick with things for a long time and stay consistent, especially when it's for the betterment of the animal. My life is quite flexible, so pet care fits easily into my routine. I prefer jobs where I'm able to stay in charge of how the work gets done, since that's when I feel like I can give my best contribution. That flexibility means I can adjust to a pet's needs rather than squeezing them into a rigid schedule. When I'm caring for a pet in their own environment, I make sure to respect their space and routine completely, from where they're allowed to go to how they're used to being handled. I pay close attention to safety details like doors, gates, and anything that could be harmful to them, and I adapt to whatever setup the home already has in place.
About: I have been caring for my friends and neighbors pets since middle school. I have also had experience volunteering at the Humane Society in both the dogs and cat departments. I also have experience with blind pets if needed. I am a full time student at George Fox University! I am available any time Tuesdays and Saturdays. As well as Monday through Sunday Evenings. I will always ensure, no matter the setting, your animals will always be protected and safe. This means your animal will never be put into an area unsafe or where something could happen.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Stapleton
I had Trina do drop in visits twice a day for 10 days to care for my two rambunctious cats (this was my second time using Trina as a sitter). She went out of her way to find ways to keep the boys entertained during her visits. The cats also have a very accurate sense of time, so I'm sure they appreciated the fact that she showed up on time for all of the 20 visits. Trina sent pictures of them sitting in the window waiting for her arrival. I'll gladly book my future pet sitting needs with Trina.

Amazing!! Chawnie has a calm enough presence that she has been able to get into our house after only meeting my dog once. That's a feat for my border collie. She is consistent, reliably, and kind. All of the things that me and my dog needed. I can tell from the expressions on my dog's face in her check in photos that my Koda is very comfortable with her. Yay for Chawnie!

Emily was fantastic, followed all instructions and was very responsive. Our cats are high maintenance and 3 of them need meds, she was able to give them all what they needed and all seemed great when we came home. It was fabulous to get photos during check ins and have the peace of mind that they were taken care of during our trip. We are so grateful to have found her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
