About: What sets me apart from other sitters? No one has magic hands like I do! I truly believe I give the best scratches and belly rubs, and I think your pet would agree. Aside from that, I LOVE to play! I never want your pet to feel bored or ignored. I believe they should get plenty of playtime, attention, and exercise so that when you come home after a long day of work, they’re happy, tired, and ready to relax with you. My goal is for your pet to be just as excited to see me again as I am to see them! I would love the opportunity to care for your pet more than once so I can build a genuine bond with them and become someone they feel comfortable and happy around. Although I’m new to Rover, I’m not new to caring for dogs. I’ve taken care of pets simply because I love animals and want to make sure they’re happy, safe, and cared for. I regularly help take care of my boyfriend’s five dogs when he’s away, so I’m comfortable caring for multiple dogs and making sure each one gets the attention they need. I hope you’ll give me the chance to show you that I can care for your pet just like they’re my own. I may be a new Rover sitter, but I’m ready to give your pet all the love, attention, playtime, and, of course, those magic scratches they deserve! I’m currently a full-time student at Texas State University, so I do have a busy schedule, but I take my bookings seriously and would never want to commit to something I couldn’t follow through with. I’m available for drop-ins and walks during the week, and on weekends I’m available all day. Because of my weekend availability, house sitting is my preferred service, since I can give your pet plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I’m happy to work around your schedule when I can and will always make sure your pet gets the care and attention they deserve. Unfortunately, I’m not able to host pets in my own home because my apartment is a little too small. However, I’m more than happy to house sit in your home! I’m very attentive to your pet’s routine, likes, dislikes, and any specific instructions you have for me. I want to make sure I’m providing care exactly the way you would want it. 🐕 Dog Walking Your dog’s safety is my top priority! If your dog isn’t comfortable around unfamiliar dogs, I’ll keep a safe distance from other dogs we come across on our walk. I’d rather give them plenty of space than risk an uncomfortable situation. Since we’ll be outside, I’ll also make sure your pup gets plenty of water and has a comfortable, safe walk. 🐾 Drop-Ins For drop in visits, I’ll make sure your pet is doing well, has everything they need, and gets plenty of love, attention, and, of course lots of scratches! I’ll also follow any feeding, bathroom, medication, or other instructions you leave for me.

About: Hi! I’m a college student with a flexible schedule and a genuine love for animals. I’ve grown up around pets and understand how important it is to have someone you trust caring for them. I’m reliable, attentive, and make sure every pet feels comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or just keeping them company, I treat every pet like they’re my own. I’m great with routines and can follow any specific instructions you have—because I know every pet is different. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel at ease while you’re gone. Looking forward to meeting you and your pets! As a college student, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and boarding, with time built in for play, feeding, and companionship. I do my best to stick to your pet’s normal routine so they feel comfortable and stress-free while you’re away. I live in a clean, pet-friendly apartment without a yard, but I make sure pets get plenty of outdoor time through regular walks and supervised potty breaks. Safety is my top priority—I always keep dogs on a leash outside and stay aware of our surroundings. Inside, pets have a calm, secure space to relax, and I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding, medications, and any special needs. I’m committed to creating a safe, comfortable environment where your pet feels at home.

About: I have been around dogs my entire life, and will naturally have a soft spot for your family friend. I have a little over 8 years experience. I genuinely love spending time with animals and making sure they feel safe and happy while their parents are away! I am always happy to send photo updates so you know how your doggo is doing each visit. I am currently a stay at home wife, meaning I have a very flexible schedule right now! I am available most week days and weekends, and I enjoy building pet care into my daily routine. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding or check ins, I make sure that each pet gets the time and care they need. I have a fenced yard and a safe, pet friendly home where dogs can play and relax comfortably. I prioritize safety and will follow your dog's routine closely, including feeding schedules, walks and any special care they may need. If you prefer your dog is crated for them to feel safe and secure, you will have to provide a crate but I can absolutely accommodate to that.

I have owned and cared for dogs from all ages, from 8 weeks puppies to 17 year old doggies! I currently work part time remotely, so I am very flexible with days and time. About: Until I moved to start my MA, I’ve been lucky enough to spend my entire life with dogs of all ages and energy levels by my side. I’d love to show your companion some love and care while you’re away. I’m available 7 days a week in the mornings and evenings and I’m available all day on the weekends. Between studying and teaching as I pursue my MA in archaeology at Texas State University, I often take breaks by gardening and hiking, and I would love to share the fresh air with a furry friend. Taking your companion out for a walk or playdate would make my day! I’m unable to own a pet at my current residence, but I’m happy to provide in-home care at your residence or in a public space. I’m comfortable feeding/watering, bathroom needs, and spending time with pets indoors or outdoors.

About: I've been taking care of different animals since I was a kid. From farm livestock to exotic animals with more specific needs, I'm confident I can keep your pet very happy and comfortable. I'm currently a college student full time, however I have many large gaps in my schedule. I'm fully free on weekends and just ask for my specific free times during the week, as they can vary. I'm a on campus living student so I can't have any pets over, but I'm available to do pet walks, quick visits, and overnight watches.

About: I have had my current dog for the past 3 years, and taking care of him has not been easy. Luckily, I like a challenge! My cousin was previously involved in a pet business, and I would constantly have different dogs in my home that I would bathe, walk, and love! I also volunteered at the Houston Humane, where I took a variety of dogs on walks throughout the day, and socialized cats before sending them to their forever home. I am currently a full-time college student, but do not have a job that requires my commitment. I like to be able to pet sit, as it provides me something fun to do, and being able to wind down with pets is a win-win! I am very good at keeping a routine, so when I am available I am more than happy to fit your babies into my schedule. For stay at home visits, it usually gives me a free environment to do my homework and watch your babies at the same time! I am very good at following instructions. I have experience in healthcare and am currently a nursing student, so I know how important it is to strictly follow you and your pets needs. In tough situations where your dog needs extra assistance, I have experience with my own pup on winding down a situation, especially knowing I will be a stranger to them. I work well in tough or emergency situations, and any concern I will be quick to address. I value your pet’s needs as much as my own!

About: As a veterinary technician at an ER clinic, I care for hundreds of dogs and cats each year and have hands-on experience with medication administration, injections, diabetic pets, seizure disorders, special-needs animals, post-operative care, anxious or fearful pets, training staff on protocols, and teaching fellow fosters as well as adopters on animal care and behavior. I am also an accomplished foster who has hosted everything from queen cats nursing kittens to weaned kittens, puppies, dogs, and senior animals. Your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities and I approach every animal with fear-free handling! Lifelong animal lover and former small business owner, I've spent years working with animals of all kinds through veterinary medicine, 4-H, fostering, and therapeutic horseback riding programs. My flexible schedule allows me to provide attentive care throughout the day, and Blink cameras throughout my home help me monitor pets whenever I'm away briefly. I treat every pet as if they were my own, providing plenty of love, enrichment, exercise, and individualized attention. Located near nature trails and a large enclosed outdoor area, I offer a safe, comfortable environment where your furry family members can relax, play, and feel right at home. My schedule is very flexible and I am able to take breaks as needed throughout my work days. I do not work on weekends, so I am always at home to attend to the critters! I am also available holidays. With experience caring for orphaned animals daily, including those requiring medications and specialized care, I prioritize your pet's health, safety, and happiness. My flexible schedule, attentive monitoring, and pet-friendly space with enrichment activities, cozy resting areas, and nearby outdoor access ensure your beloved companion receives compassionate, professional care while you're away. 🐾

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
