“Heather has done an amazing job with my animals. She was even willing to take on a last-minute drop in when I had a day of appointments pop up. I love her comments and the pictures that she sends me. I can tell that she really takes the timeto know my animals.”

“Heidi was amazing! We had never used a pit sitter before and were super nervous about leaving our two pups. Heidi was so friendly and loving with our two dogs! She made us feel so comfortable and confident that we made the right decision! She updated us during each visit and even sent pictures! Highly recommend Heidi!!”

“We appreciate Tiana so much! She paid extra attention to our kitties while we went on vacation for 10 days. We know how much our kitties appreciated the time she spent with them. Tiana also gave extra attention to other things that we needed help with in the house while we were gone. We will be contacting her again for future house/kitty sitting!”

“Joie did great with our pups. She understood the instructions for care & the household without repeating. Very smooth & professional demeanor. Would definitely recommend & book again. Thanks!”

About: I’ve worked previously in the animal rescue field. I have experience with medication schedules, administration, grooming, nail trimming, and specialized diet/food schedules. I’ve also cared for many dogs after major surgeries. I’ve also been pet sitting since my early teens and would love to meet your pets! I work 100% remotely with a fully flexible schedule and boss! As long as my laptop connects to the internet, I can be wherever I want. I live on a 1.5 acre farm, which is currently unfenced. My dogs are off leash trained, fully vetted, and on all preventative medications they require. If you are uncomfortable with allowing your dog off leash on my property, I have leashes, moveable stake leashes, and access to plenty of water sources outside.
About: I have had animals in my household since I was a baby, and I have always enjoyed taking care of them. Dogs and cats alike, I was raised to treat all animals with respect, kindness, and love. After all, they’re all Gods creatures! When I was looking for a part-time job this summer going into my freshman year of college, I couldn’t think of a better gig than hanging out with animals I love! ( also, if you see the pictures I have uploaded, I also have a passion for photography, so I do not mind giving your animal a cute little photo shoot of your choice!) 😄 I am going to college for volleyball, so I typically work out every single morning using the Training. My Coach has provided me other than my workouts and the vacations my family and I are taking this summer, I have no obligations that will prevent me from taking care of any animal! I will make the dates that I am not available extremely clear so there will be no confusion! Considering I also have babysitting experience, I can give medicine to dogs, clean your dogs with diapers if needed, take them outside, crate them, any service you need I can provide!
“Brittany was great with our 4 cats! I have two particularly nervous cats and she worked with them to get them to eat. I loved the updates and pictures during visits.”

About: I’ve grown up around animals of all shapes and sizes my entire life and taking care of them is something I’m no stranger to. I love taking care of your needs as a pet owner and ensuring you feel safe and comfortable leaving your baby in my hands! I am a full time college student involved in some extracurriculars needing that extra money to pay for school, I am pretty flexible and would love to workout a schedule with you :) I am a big animal lover and will only treat your babies with the same love and care as you! Teach me the rules and I will ensure they’re taken care of.
About: I have cared for animals of all sizes and kinds my whole life. I have been dog/cat/horse sitting for many years and am comfortable taking care of all animals. I grew up on a farm taking care of rescue horses, dogs, cats, rabbits and chickens. I currently have two percious dogs, Shelley and Watson. Both are rescues and my best friends. My favorite activity is playing with them in our yard and going on road trips together. I am available to walk and play with your pets as well as house sit if needed. I will check on your pet regularly and make sure they feel comfortable and at home. I am a school teacher so my summer schedule is very flexible. Please consider me for all your pet needs!
“Makayla was amazing ! She had great communication and made it easy for me to trust her with my cat! She sent me updates every time she went over as well as photos of him! 10/10 recommend !”

“2nd booking with Ashley! She is very professional. All tasks were completed. We enjoyed looking at the funny report cards everyday. I feel great planning future trips knowing she'll be taking care of my babies. Thank you Ashley!”

“We were very thankful to have been able to book Amelia fairly last minute. She handled our dog’s full body welcomes when she got into the house like a champ and provided an excellent rover card when her visit was over!”

“So happy to have had Linda take care of my 2 cats during vacation. Came back to a clean apartment with no problems, and really appreciated all the drop-in updates along the way.”

About: I have been in the Veterinary health field for the last 10 year. I started as a kennel technician and have worked my way up to Licensed Veterinary Technician. I have gained some knowledge over the years on health care needs for pets. I can be relied on and am professional in my services. I am currently working full time; However, would be able to take the time needed to take care of your fur baby. In the mornings, evenings & weekends would be best for my schedule. I have a crate available & I have 2 dogs that are really friendly with other dogs. I have a fenced in back yard and plenty of room for dogs to run off some energy.
“Zora M. was very faithful and there during the times we agreed upon! My pets loved her! Lucky Boy who will only come out with certain people, was sitting in plain view of Zora! Amazing! Thank you Zora M for our "1st" wonderful experience!”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerville. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
