Savana has been a godsend for my puppies! I work long hours and didn’t want to put my pets in a kennel. Since our first meet and greet, Savana has been professional, wonderful with my four-legged friends And they look forward to seeing her on every visit.

Tessa took care of two cats and two dogs. One of the cats required a pill every day and one of the dogs needed pills as well. One of the dogs was a senior and needed help with stairs. Tessa did a fantastic job with all of it. I have no fence so she had the added job of leashing and walking the dogs numerous times a day. I would not hesitate to employ and recommend her.

Kristina is absolutely wonderful. We booked her kind of last minute as our previous sitter fell through. She was accommodating and made our anxious dog comfortable while she stayed in our home with him. I highly recommend Kristina & will absolutely book her again in the future if she is available.

We could not be happier with Jade! She came to our rescue when a kennel reservation fell through and stayed in our home for four nights with our eight month old Samoyed puppy and three year old bengal cat while we traveled out of state to a family wedding. Jade exudes an immense amount of compassion and sensitivity, as well as the utmost professionalism. Her communication is awesome, and her experience/knowledge as a petsitter and caretaker of animals really shows. She took remarkable care of our beloved cat and dog, and just as importantly she cared beautifully for our house while we were away. This was our first time working with a pet sitter, and actually opening our home to someone while we weren’t there, which was totally nerve-wracking! We are so grateful that Jade was the person we connected with.

Madelyn took care of my 14-year old Siberian Husky, Kodiak, who has arthritis. She house-sat him while we were away on vacation for 12 days. She was wonderful with him, taking him on frequent short walks during the day. When we got home, we found a very neat house and a very happy (and tired!) dog. I would absolutely hire her again.

She took wonderful care of them and left the house exactly the way we left it. We highly recommend her and would absolutely trust her with our pups again!

Abbey is a gem! We were lucky to be able to snag her for a weekend house sitting situation at the very last minute. Abbey is professional, kind and kept us posted about our pup the entire time with lots of pic and text updates. Really happy with her and would happily make her a regular sitter/walker for our dog.

My two Jack Russell’s had a great time with Shannon while she did a 5 day house sit with them. Shannon regularly kept us up to date on their wellbeing with pictures and texts. She also was able to help us out for an extra day when our flight was delayed returning home and ensured the dogs were still taken care of while we were delayed getting home. The house looked great when we got back and we had two happy pups. Thanks again Shannon!

This was our very first time using Rover, and as extremely overprotective dog parents, we were definitely nervous. But Brad was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He eased our minds with daily updates, complete with photos and videos that showed just how well our dog was doing! We also had a Fi tracker on his collar and it was so reassuring to see how many walks and steps he was getting. Brad took him out so often, even more than our normal routine! Our dog occasionally gets so excited that he’ll throw up if he hasn’t eaten in a while, and when it happened, Brad immediately texted us, cleaned it up, and made sure he ate and drank after. His communication was quick, calm, and thoughtful, which helped us feel totally at ease. It was clear our dog was incredibly well cared for — he got plenty of walks, playtime with his toys, and lots of attention. Honestly, he looked sad when Brad left! Brad also left our home neat and spotless, which we really appreciated. We feel like we hit the jackpot with Brad. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to take care of our fur baby, and we’d recommend him to absolutely anyone. We hope to book with him again!

About: My first pet ever was a bunny named Einstein. I then had a parakeet, Guinea pigs, cats, more bunnies and of course a few dogs throughout the course of my life. I quite literally squeal every time I see a cute dog. My friend recommended this to me because she recognized my love for dogs. I am currently working full time and on my days off I’m hustling by doing DoorDash, or providing Content Day services to other creators in the neighborhood. On a day where I close at 1:30pm I can fit in a dog walk for a few hours in the morning. If I open I have time after work to pick up more work. I treat my pets as an extension of my heart. Providing love, attention and affection to dogs really warms my heart. Fulfilling their lovely doggo needs is a privilege.

Ive worked at animal hospitals and humane society’s Im currently a working college student who has some free time and would like to make a little extra cash to save for vet school I take my dog on (almost) daily 30 minute walks, including an hour and 1/2 one, once a week. About: I am in the Middletown- goshen area of Orange County and can’t board any animals at our new home. I prefer a meet and greet before booking and have excellent references. I can walk, spend time with , and play with your dogs and/or cats. I’m experienced with administering medications to both. I have references from my customers in Sullivan county where I used to live if needed . Recently retired I now have a very open schedule for your vacations or weekend needs. I have been an Eagle nest monitor for the NYDEC from 2011 - 2019 on the Delaware River and on Yankee Lake NY 2013- 2022 and have been involved in animal rescue . *That means I have both domestic animal and wildlife experience. I have been a local volunteer and continue to involved in my community. I am newly retired and can come anytime that fits into your schedule . Hopefully I can be the person you call for your vacation or special occasions. Sadly, I no longer have a place to board any animals. But I do have some great references and would provide them upon request. I do have a medium size pup of my own I can bring if you have a friendly dog.

FAQs for House Sitting - Slate Hill

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Slate Hill on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 842 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Slate Hill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Slate Hill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Slate Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Slate Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Slate Hill. On Rover:

  • 99% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
