“Michael proved to be the ideal pet sitter! He took excellent care of our two dogs and cat, and sent us daily updates along with photos. He followed feeding routines to the letter and took the dogs on frequent walks. Michael also stayed at our house and left things as tidy as he found them. I highly recommend using Michael, your pets will be in good, caring hands!”

“Kiana was so great! She gave our Charlie lots of love and snuggles (his favorite). She was great with sending messages and photos to keep us informed on their adventures while we were away. Her communication was prompt and made us feel good about leaving our fun baby with her.”

“Daniel took fantastic care of our pups and our home. He was very responsive and sent pictures of his outdoor adventures with the dogs each day. We look forward to working with him again in the future!”

“Bella did an amazing job pet and house sitting for us while we took a short getaway for three nights. She was communicative throughout - which eased our minds as we had recently adopted one pup and this was our first time away. Our dogs - and cat! - were obviously well cared for upon our return, and Bella left the house in perfect order. Would easily recommend anyone to book her, and we hope she'll come back when we take our next adventure!”

About: I grew up with three Labradors/lab mixes, so caring for dogs has always been second nature to me. I’ve spent 15+ years helping my mom with walking, feeding, playing with, and overall caring for our dogs, and I’ve also worked as a neighborhood dog sitter and walker. I’m attentive to each dog’s individual needs, whether that means keeping up with an energetic pup or providing gentle care for older dogs. I also just graduated PA school and am currently in the transition period before starting my first PA job, so I’m excited to use this time doing something I genuinely love such spending time with dogs! I’m very flexible and generally available any day of the week, depending on weather, so I can easily accommodate walks, playtime, and care when needed. I’m currently in between graduating PA school and starting my first PA job, which gives me a lot of free time that I love spending being active and caring for dogs. I currently live in an apartment with a turf fenced off area in the front of the building, so I am currently not offering pet-sitting, just dog walking for now.
“Luke is the best! He takes such great care of our kiddos. He sends pictures and videos of their cuteness, and doesn't hesitate to reach out with questions. The house always looks great when we get home. Luke is very conscientious. Even our shy cat is very comfortable around Luke!”

“Kaylee was an amazing sitter. She came and went exactly when she said she would and was super on top of updating me with photos. 10/10 would recommend her to anyone and will be booking again ❤️”

“Grace did an awesome job taking care of Derps and our house. Derpie was limping when I left and I was worried about him, but Grace took good care of him and kept me updated as he got better throughout the week.”

About: I love dogs & have been around them since I was a kid. I previously have fostered dogs and cats for the humane society. This included a reactive dog and a cat with FLV who required medicine every day. I also have my own dog who I love and care for everyday 🥰 I work from home & am self-employed so I have a very flexible schedule. I am available both on weekdays & weekends. I usually prefer to walk dogs in the morning or evening. I am very gentle with animals and usually get them to cooperate with treats, toys, or praise (positive reinforcement). I let them get comfortable with me at their own pace & read their body language to see how they're feeling.
About: I grew up with shelter dogs my whole life, and we always had three dogs at a time, so I’m very used to different personalities, energy levels, and behaviors. Having rescue dogs taught me a lot of patience and helped me learn how every dog has their own needs and routine. Something that sets me apart is my hands-on experience with training my German Shepherd Husky mix at home, so I’m comfortable working with high-energy dogs and helping reinforce good habits. I also have experience with dogs of all ages, including seniors, so I understand the extra gentleness and patience they sometimes need. Honestly, I just really love being around dogs and miss mine at home, so I’d love the chance to spend time with some furry friends and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for. I am in school full time and I work at Chick Fil A part time, but I am done with classes most days by 3pm so I am willing to walk dogs on those days! I also do not go home hardly ever, except holidays so I can do weekend care as well! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make it a priority to stick closely to their normal routine because I know how important consistency is for dogs. One of my dogs at home, Maui, will even get sick if breakfast is more than about 30 minutes late, so I truly understand how much pets rely on their schedules for comfort and health. I’m also very comfortable cleaning up after pets and handling any accidents quickly and responsibly. Being an only child, I’ve always been the one to step in and take care of messes at home, so it comes naturally to me to keep both the pet and the home clean and comfortable. I also know how reassuring updates can be for pet parents. Whenever my family goes on trips, my mom loves receiving photos of our dogs, so I always plan to send picture updates and little check-ins so owners know their pets are happy, safe, and well cared for.
“Ella was amazing with our pup during her weekend stay! She was kind, courteous, and completely trustworthy. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing Lima was in such good hands. Ella kept her on schedule, sent updates, and gave her so much love and attention. We’d absolutely book with her again!”

But with the love of having pet myself it sometimes it can be hard to get home after a long day or running late I am here to help as much as possible I will perfect your pets as if they would be my own fur babies. I will keep them safe and secure at all times. I will only use leashes and or a fenced in yard

About: While I’m new to professional dog sitting, I’ve grown up with dogs and have helped friends and family care for their pets. My background as a caregiver for individuals with special needs, along with experience as a CNA and lifeguard, has taught me patience, responsibility, and how to manage complex care routines. I’m confident these skills will help me provide loving, attentive care to your furry family members! 🐾💕 I’m currently 18 and just moved to Lacrosse for college. I have class about 4 hours a day and can be with your dog for the rest of the day if needed! I prioritize both comfort and safety with my dog sitting. Please let me know how I can best accommodate your dog to keep them happy!

About: I’ve owned multiple dogs my entire life, I’ve owned rescues and know how to correctly deal with any issues they might have with their trauma. I also have a 16 year old westie who’s still living his best life. I will never mistreat your pet. I just graduated college with a bachelors in business administration and a minor in marketing. So I am currently job hunting so I have a lot of free time. I will follow any instructions to the T! I can let your pets out however much they need and if they are being too roudy I can put them inside or in a kennel if needed.
“Holly was wonderful! She took extra time to meet our pup before his stay, which was so appreciated. She took our pup on lots of walks, gave him snuggles and helped find a way to calm his food anxiousness at her house. Would recommend her to anyone!”

About: I have taken care of my dogs and cats since the start of high school. I love giving affection to my dogs and cats, including others I have met in person. I used to have a dog that was a senior and improvised ways that I helped them with, like using one of the sofa cushions as a chair my dog could use to go on the bed. Another example was putting pills on a butter knife that had a dab of peanut butter in it and gave it to my senior dog. I'm good at listening to instructions and guidelines that you need for me to take care of your pets. I will also give them space when they tell me. If they're skittish of me, then I'll be patient with them by letting them sniff my hand, not give eye contact at them, crouching down to their level, and talking in a calm tone. I am unemployed, so I have plenty of time to take care of your dogs and/or cats! I will be available Sunday through Thursday unless something comes up in my life of course. I will make sure your doors and gates are locked. I'll do my best in following your schedule in taking care of your pets so they won't be stressed by any sudden changes. I'll make sure to ask any questions on how to take care of your dogs and cats so I won't make any needless mistakes. I will send you photos and text updates of your pets if anything happens and to let you know your pets are happy.

About: I really enjoy taking care of my own and my family and friends’ pets. I connect with animals easily and feel good in their presence. I am currently taking care of my aging dog Bilka. I’m not teaching during the summer months and have a lot of availability in July and August. I can pet sit on weekdays and on weekends. I have a fenced in yard where my dog can roam around. My cat does not go outside but has comfortable spaces in the house to sleep or watch what happens outside through the windows. I will follow your safety rules to keep your pet safe and well.
“Chilynn is the best! Very knowledgeable and experienced with pets, and just a very kind and warm person. She was very reliable, and great with communicating and updates. She took good care of our buddies. ?highly recommend!!!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shelby walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shelby maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shelby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
