“I had Shana come to my house for drop-in visits to check on my two cats while away on vacation and she did an incredible job! This was my first time using Rover and I am so happy I chose Shana to take care of my kitties! She sent detailed reports and pictures every time she came for the visits. She was punctual and professional. She gave me peace of mind that my cats were healthy and comfortable while I was away, which is priceless. I highly recommend her!”

About: I grew up with dogs and adopted my first after leaving home, and within 2 years adopted my second. Since the first two I have chosen to adopt senior dogs and spoil them for however many years I have with them. My current is a Pomeranian named Lucy who is @ 16 years old. She has developed adult onset Diabetes and she requires 2 injections of Ventsulin daily. I am retired and am happy to work with you and your schedule as best I can. It is my goal to make your departure as easy on you and your pet as possible. I have a fenced in backyard and because of Lucy’s advanced age I had a ramp built for her to access the yard from the deck. I have cared for cats (some kept in at all times and others allowed to go outside) and dogs who require at least 2 walks a day.
About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life, growing up with them and now being a proud dog dad myself! I understand how important it is to have someone you trust caring for your pets. I’m extremely responsible, dependable, and attentive to each dog’s individual needs. Whether it’s going for walks, playing outside, or just hanging out and getting some extra attention, I’ll make sure your pup feels safe, comfortable, and loved. I’ll treat your dog like one of my own! I currently have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to caring for pets! I’m available throughout the week for dog walking and drop-in visits, including during typical workday hours. As a dog dad myself, caring for dogs is already part of my daily routine. I enjoy spending time outdoors, going for walks, and making sure pets get the exercise, attention, and care they deserve. My flexibility allows me to accommodate a variety of schedules and provide dependable care when you need it! I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make it a priority to follow their usual schedule and any specific instructions to keep them happy and comfortable. Whether it’s going for walks, providing fresh food and water, potty breaks, playtime, or just some extra attention, I’ll make sure your pet is well cared for. I’m respectful of your home, responsible, and attentive to your pet’s safety. I’m also happy to provide updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in good hands!
“Hunter was above and beyond great!! Very reliable and communicative. She even helped with our chickens and checked on our barn kitty. Always a good feeling to know your furry family is being well taken care of while you’re away. Thanks Hunter!”

“Tina was great. Price is very reasonable and it was nice to have a responsible adult monitoring vs. a neighbor kid. There were a couple small events and Tina was proactive and took care of things. Extremely happy.”
“Allison was very helpful in taking care of our two senior cats. Normally when we’re gone they’re very stressed out but we came home to two very relaxed kitties. Thanks Allison!”

“Alex was great! He was very communicative about my pets and let me know what time he was arriving and leaving each day. He made sure our boy cat got his medicine and was really good about getting our picky cat to eat away from the others. He sent pictures each day, which was very comforting. He also brought in packages from our mail securely in the house, which was extra helpful.”
About: My entire life I’ve had the blessing to care for pets. From my Rottweiler Roxie, to my sweet kitty Nala, I’ve learned what to look for to provide the best care to my animals. I’ve also had extensive training in caring for livestock. During my undergrad I spent three years as a pig farmer and I loved every minute of it. I’m hoping to work most days after 3pm but no later than 10pm. I have some flexibility on most weekends. Would prefer mornings during the weekend but I am flexible. I have a fenced in yard that my cat likes to explore in. I also have a laundry room that can be used to separate my cat from any of your animals if needed.
“Brianna is a very engaging young woman — wonderful with our rescue dog Flora and confidence-inspiring. We are very comfortable having her care for our dog and our home while we are away.”

My house includes a LARGE partially fenced in yard (currently being redone) along with a giant cleaned spacious garage, and a big basement all used for playtimes! My house is open for free roaming . Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sandstone
Veronica did a wonderful job taking care of our 2 cats that don’t get along with each other. She was always at our home when she said she would be, sent pictures and in general showed she cared. She did a great job for us. One of our cats is old and ailing and her notes told details about her. I would totally recommend her to anyone and would use her again. I already gave her a tip for such good work.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:

- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
