Angela watched both of my dogs while I was on vacation at my campsite on literally the weekend of July 4, 2022. She is a very kind and gentle soul. She has so much knowledge and compassion working with animals. She took care of my babies with so much love. She very responsible and goes extra! Very trustworthy and kind person. Honestly it was the first time I met her but her personality and compassion shows She on time and goes beyond. You won’t be disappointed and your pets will love her Highly recommend

We cannot say enough about Belle and how amazing she was with our dog Lady! We took a week long trip and Belle made sure our dog was happy, safe and loved. She went above and beyond to make sure Lady was happy the entire time and never stressed. We received constant feedback with pictures and messages. This was our first time leaving our dog and thanks to Belle we were able to have a wonderful getaway with our family without any worries. She's a blessing and clearly has the background, skills, and personality to work with animals. We highly recommend her with any pet!!

Maria is reliable, communicates clearly and often, and noted all the details we had left her to care for our pups. She handled them with care and learned each one’s nuances. The transition back home after our extended vacation was smooth and our pups were in step with their regular routine. We would highly recommend Maria to anyone!

Kendra watched our pups and home while we were away just before a large snowstorm. She is great with the dogs—tolerant but in charge—and took excellent care of them. She kept me up to date and sent great updates and photos. Felt very comfortable that if we couldn’t get back the pups would be in very good hands. Ended up returning early to beat the road closures, she was flexible and everything was perfect at the house. Will definitely book with her again and highly recommend her!

About: I don’t just watch pets, I care for them like they’re my own. My King Charles Cavalier Spaniel taught me how meaningful the bond between people and their pets can be, and it’s one of the reasons why I treat every animal with patience, affection, and individualized care. With years of experience, a flexible schedule, and a true passion for animals, you can trust that your pet will receive plenty of love, attention, and companionship while you’re away. 🐶🐱💕 **Completed online Pet CPR and First Aid certification I work full-time, but pet sitting fits well into my weekly schedule because I’m intentional about making time for it. I only take on bookings I can fully commit to, so every pet gets the attention, care, and reliability they deserve. Mornings, evenings and weekends are open as well as during lunch hours during the work week. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my priority is making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved in their familiar environment. I follow your pet’s routine closely, including feeding, walks, medications (if needed), playtime, and lots of attention. I also treat your home with respect, keep things clean and secure, and provide updates, pictures and videos so you can feel at ease while you’re away. I've cared for pets with a variety of personalities, from energetic and playful to shy or anxious, and I adapt my approach to each pet's individual needs.

I can’t say enough good things about Sabrina! She took incredible care of my dogs and my home while I was away. She was responsive and kept me updated with pix. It’s not easy trusting someone with both your pet and your space, but she made it completely stress-free. My dogs were so happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for and my home looked better than I left it. I would 100% recommend her and will absolutely be booking with her again in the future! She's amazing!

About: Growing up around dogs of all sizes and ages, dogs with disorders such as anxiety or epilepsy, and dogs that just love to eat any and everything, I've learned how to handle almost any tough situation. I also have pervious experience working as a cashier at a pet store. I am a full-time student with a part time job. The good news? Most of my afternoons are available to be spent with your furry friends! I will spend a good portion of the time playing with your furry friends and helping them get all their wiggles out! If you have a fenced in yard we'll probably spend a lot of time outside (weather permitting!). I will of course ensure your friends have plenty of water, are fed on schedule, and take any medications they need.

She kept in contact with me and answered my text messages within 10 minutes. She even took the garbage out to the garage!! There was no dirty dishes, even in my dishwasher as I said it didn’t even look like she was here. There was no poop in my backyard. She’s amazing

I also keep litter boxes clean, clean up after pets, and make sure your home is left just as I found it. Communication is important to me, so I'll send regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away.

About: I am a devoted pet owner who has experience exercising, feeding and administering medications to my own animals as well as visiting animals. I believe it is important to take each animals individual personality and preferences into account when caring for them. That is why my family and friends always ask me to take care of their furry friend. In addition, my fun and compassionate personality will ensure your animal and I are best friends. I work full-time from home, which allows me to easily adjust to your pet’s schedule. I’m also off on weekends, so I’m available to give them plenty of attention and care. I believe it’s important to learn your pet’s routine and keep their daily life as consistent as possible. Since I work from home, I’m able to adjust easily to your pet’s needs and schedule. I also have a large yard for them to enjoy, and my garage is fenced in so they can safely spend time outside even when I’m there. For added security, the main door area is enclosed to ensure no furry guest can slip out.

Timothy was great! Very nice and easy to communicate with. Took care of our two large dogs and was able to give them their medicine as prescribed. Gave us peace of mind while we were out of town that our animals and house were well taken care of. He left the house in a cleaner state than when we left which is hard to do with a shedding husky. We will be using him again whenever we’re out of town.

Belle was an excellent dog sitter (and house sitter, for that matter!) The dogs were happy & well taken care of. We got regular updates & didn't have to worry once. Ahead of time, she asked all the important questions & took careful notes. She even graciously agreed to help with my daughter's reptiles & birds. We came home to happy dogs & a clean house!

FAQs for House Sitting - Sanborn

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 559 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sanborn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sanborn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sanborn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sanborn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sanborn. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 86% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
