Belle house sat overnight for our high anxiety, deaf French bulldog, terrier mix. She did a wonderful job. Communication was very good. It was difficult to find any evidence of her presence in our home. She left it neat and clean. No dog piles to pick up when we got home. It was very apparent our dog received a lot of attention and exercise. He was tired and slept the rest of day when we returned. The service is very convenient and the piece of mind knowing someone is looking after your pet and your home is not to be understated. Will book again.

We are so happy we found Kendra. She has watched our 3 dogs, including one who needs some extra attention several times and has taken such great care of them. She sends lots of pictures and updates so you know they are ok. I would highly recommend her to any of our friends and family. Hopefully she will consider sitting for us again in the future.

About: I've cared for family and friends dogs since I was a teenager, as well as our own dogs. I have experience with diabetic dogs and other medical needs. I work part time and will spend my off time with your pup. I like to meet everyone before sitting so I can get to know their routines and make sure everyone is comfortable! I will care for your pets as you do. I typically visit the home before dogsitting to meet the dog and see what their routine is.

Allison was absolutely amazing. When I came home, I didn’t even know she was in my home. Everything was exactly the way I left it. She took very good care of my dog. She kept in contact with me and answered my text messages within 10 minutes. She even took the garbage out to the garage!! There was no dirty dishes, even in my dishwasher as I said it didn’t even look like she was here. There was no poop in my backyard. She’s amazing

She has so much knowledge and compassion working with animals. She took care of my babies with so much love. She very responsible and goes extra! Very trustworthy and kind person. About: I don’t just watch pets, I care for them like they’re my own. My King Charles Cavalier Spaniel taught me how meaningful the bond between people and their pets can be, and it’s one of the reasons why I treat every animal with patience, affection, and individualized care. With years of experience, a flexible schedule, and a true passion for animals, you can trust that your pet will receive plenty of love, attention, and companionship while you’re away. 🐶🐱💕 I work full-time, but pet sitting fits well into my weekly schedule because I’m intentional about making time for it. I only take on bookings I can fully commit to, so every pet gets the attention, care, and reliability they deserve. Mornings, evenings and weekends are open as well as during lunch hours during the work week. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my priority is making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved in their familiar environment. I follow your pet’s routine closely, including feeding, walks, medications (if needed), playtime, and lots of attention. I also treat your home with respect, keep things clean and secure, and provide updates, pictures and videos so you can feel at ease while you’re away. I've cared for pets with a variety of personalities, from energetic and playful to shy or anxious, and I adapt my approach to each pet's individual needs.

Timothy was great! Very nice and easy to communicate with. Took care of our two large dogs and was able to give them their medicine as prescribed. Gave us peace of mind while we were out of town that our animals and house were well taken care of. He left the house in a cleaner state than when we left which is hard to do with a shedding husky. We will be using him again whenever we’re out of town.

About: Ive had three cats and two dogs in my life. Currently I have two cats and they are my world. In many instances I've had a cat or dog that doesn't like anyone besides family come up and become my new best friend. Also have been trusted to watch multiple friends animals while on vacation because they loved our time together more than anyone else. During the week it would be a drop in sitting with minimal overnight stays after work. Which means its not out the question but not consistent. Weekends I have more flexibility for overnight stays. My cats are indoors, fed a heathly diet, and stimulated. While at the clients house its dependent on the type of animal and if the animal requires special care.

About: I have owned dogs all my life, and turned to fostering and dogsitting after college for shorter commitments. I have fostered over 15 dogs, including seniors, puppies, 70+ lb reactive dogs, and those needing medications. I have also catsit for friends and neighbors and cared for fish the last three years. I work from home so I'm able to be attentive to your pets, and I like to take 15 minute breaks to walk a few times a day. I have a puppy-proofed mudroom where we will hang out, and I live across the street from a bike path where I love to walk with a regular leash or long line.

About: I’ve had medium sized dogs all my life that I’ve helped take care of, I’m especially familiar with boxers and I’m very fond of bully breeds. I’ve had a cat as of about five years ago that I help out with and I occasionally watch her for extended amounts of time. My last two dogs I had since they were puppies and had to clean up a lot while they were still being trained and I’ve done a lot to support my old dogs as they got older and had problems with mobility and tough foods. I’m a college student who has a lot of free time Thursday through Sunday, I am also capable of getting off campus either before of after my weekday classes. I can offer plenty of attention to your pet and make sure they are well attended to whether they need specific meals or need to be let outside or just want some time to play.

My dog, Rei is generally skittish around strangers but with Forest she was at home and cuddly! Forest took great care of Rei, took her on jogs while I was away on a trip, and checked in regularly with me which helped me relax during my vacation. He was very kind and polite and followed instructions well. I would highly recommend Forest and will definitely book him again in the future. :)

Belle was an excellent dog sitter (and house sitter, for that matter!) The dogs were happy & well taken care of. We got regular updates & didn't have to worry once. Ahead of time, she asked all the important questions & took careful notes. She even graciously agreed to help with my daughter's reptiles & birds. We came home to happy dogs & a clean house!

FAQs for House Sitting - Sanborn

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 565 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sanborn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sanborn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sanborn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sanborn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sanborn. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 86% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
