About: I’ve taken care of animals as small as rats and fish ranging to livestock since I was young! I have had all myself and they’ve all been spoiled and happy as long as I’m around. Your pets will be able to tell I’m an animal person and you’ll be relived to go away as your pets will be in great hands! I’m currently working part time at horse stables and still have plenty of time to go spend time home to care for my fur babies and my bigger outside babies lol. My life is technically revolves around my pets care and my part time job is taking care of huge animals that need extra attention, and before this I worked on a diary farm taking care of even bigger animals. at home I make do , I have a huge yard out in the country, I can use the electric collar if needed, leash, or off leash with recall as I do have a horse on the property and another dog and outside cats who they may chase. Any clients home I do the job I came to do and then I do anything extra to make the client feel as if I didn’t just do my job and actually enjoyed and felt comfortable with their pet taking a picture video giving treats extra pets and cuddles etc…
“Latasha was wonderful! From the beginning she came for a meet and greet and got down on the floor with my Percy! She asked very specific questions about his routine and wanted to ensure he was as comfortable as possible. During her stay she was very interactive with Percy. Took him on outings and walks and made sure he had plenty of play time and attention. On a night of a storm she let Percy sleep in bed with her to help comfort him!! Any concerns she had she messaged me immediately. She was great about sending updates and pictures to make sure I felt he was in good hands which definitely decreased my worries. Latasha treated my home with respect and left my home just as she found it. She even helped me with my newly planted garden to ensure it stayed watered while I was away. I will definitely use Latasha again in the future.”

“Evelyn is a super responsible home and pet sitter, our Golden girl Pennie just adores her! We are always able to enjoy our trip knowing our home and Golden girl is in very good hands <3”

“Ramona was a wonderful sitter for our two pups. She is extremely responsive and communicates frequently. We felt very comfortable having her in our home while we were away and our dogs fell in love with her. She sent lots of photos and videos of our pups and actively played with them in the house and our backyard. Ramona truly made sure they were cared for when we had a family emergency and had to leave the state quickly. I absolutely recommend her if you need someone trust worthy and honest!”

“So grateful to Jane and Ian for staying with our pups! Great communication and so so respectful of our home…both the dogs and we felt instantly at peace upon meeting them. Thank you both! Jen”

About: Cai has been providing in home pet care since she was a teenager and began boarding pets when she started grad school in 2020. Joe has been boarding cats since around 2019 and has began boarding dogs since 2024. My partner and I work from home and provide full time care, meaning that, unless discussed beforehand explicitly, your pet will not be left alone and you can rest easy knowing they have our full attention. We only accept more than one pet at a time if they live in the same house and we are pet free right now, so you dont have to worry about how they might get along with any other animals. We have a fenced in yard for your pup to run around in and we live minutes away from Tower Grove Park where I love to take walks.
“I went out of town for the weekend and was SO thankful that Gaby was free. She didn’t skip a beat with my three dogs and even checked up on my chickens! My house was exactly as I had left it, and she was incredibly respectful of our home and our animals. It can be difficult leaving your pets with someone new, but I wasn’t worried at all leaving them with Gaby!”

“Carol was amazing house sitting for my dog! I could tell how much of a dog lover she is and knew my dog would be in the best of care! She kept me updated and shared pictures during my trip! She left my home clean and tidy as well! Highly recommend!”

As of October 2026, there are 221 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ruma. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ruma walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ruma maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ruma choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
