We left Louie, our 10 year old toy poodle, with Pamela and her husband for 3 weeks. Louie needed to receive an assortment of medications throughout the day. Pamela was terrific! She took great care of Louie. She very clearly cares a lot of about pets and showed Louie a lot of love and attention. Her setting is ideal, located in the country surrounded by farmland. She has no pets of her own and only cares for one pet at a time. She sent us a lot of photos, almost every day, and told us how Louie was doing. We would definitely leave Louie with her again.

Sam was the best! Very accommodating and you know that she cares about animals. Treated my dog Jaxie like her own and I could tell she was loved and had a great time away from home. First time using this service and my expectations were blown away, will definitely rebook with Sam in the future! Would give more than 5 stars if possible.

This was the second time Sir Sparklepuff stayed with Kim, and he seems to adore spending time with her. Kim returned him not only happy and well-cared for, it freshly bathed and brushed, too! We will be sure he stays with her again soon.

Samantha and her partner are just amazing! Took care of Kiwi’s very complex medical needs and even made sure she was comfortable walking with her arthritis by layout out rugs for her to walk on she she doesn’t slip. She even made her own chart to keep track of kiwis meds to make sure she never missed a dose. She’s amazing and will be our go to as long as we live in the area! Cant recommend enough!

About: Like many others, I am a dog lover and was raised taking care of family dogs. Unlike others, that passion led to training and classes, competing in dog sports, and now, competing in dog shows. I have experience with many breeds of all sizes, senior pet care, reactive dog care and training. I would love to help you with your pet care needs! I work from home, so my schedule is very flexible and I can accommodate most dogs’ needs. I currently have open availability for boarding, daycare, walks, and drop in visits. Dogs are treated like one of my own! I take your dog out for leashed potty breaks several times a day, according to their needs. While I am working, your dog can settle on the couch or one of the many dog beds, or relax and play with my dogs (a Golden Retriever and a Foxhound). If your dog likes the crate, I have an extra for them. When I run errands, your dog will be crated or gated in a separate room from my dogs for safety. I live on 4 acres next and next to a cemetery, so I can take your dog for relaxing walks in a peaceful environment.

Destiny is the best caretaker for my pups that I’ve ever found on Rover! My little girl Luna runs up to her when she sees her and is so excited. She clearly loves her. And I always get great updates with photos! When Destiny has the pups I have absolutely zero worries and it puts my mind at ease when I travel. She’s my go-to!

Kyle was great for our young blue heeler Shadow! Our dog needs time to warm up to new people, and Kyle was very comfortable with that process. Upon first meeting, Shadow growled at him and snapped at the air a bit but Kyle was not bothered and knew to ignore Shadow at first. After some time, Shadow was asking him for belly rubs. Before leaving Shadow with Kyle we arranged two visits between him and the dog to make sure they were friends. Kyle was very accommodating and happy to take that extra time out of his day. I really appreciated his willingness to do that. During their time together, Kyle sent photos and updates every day. Right away from the photos we could see that our pup was relaxed and settling into spending time with his new human friend in the house and on walks. Shadow even got to sleep in bed and sit on couches (like he does at home...) Knowing everything was OK for both of them really helped us enjoy our trip. Big thanks to Kyle!

As always, our boys Richard and Philip had an incredible time staying with Robert and Eileen! They got lots of exercise in the big fenced yard, despite the tundra-like conditions, and we got detailed updates every day with cute photos and videos. Richard even learned to fetch! Robert and Eileen are gems, and I would leave them a 10 star review if I had the option!

Ivy is a very shy dog so we were very nervous to leave her for the first time. Carol was reassuring in her kind gentle voice that she’d be fine. She sent daily notes and pictures. When I went to pick her up Ivy actually hid behind Carol. Hurt my feelings, but I knew she had bonded with Carol which is exactly what you want in a care provider. So thanks again Carol for an awesome job!

We couldn’t have asked for a better situation than the one we had with Beth. She made our dog (Alee) feel right at home. Alee had freedom to move around, a comfortable home and lots of attention. It was a wonderful few days for her. I highly recommend Beth- a great dog sitter!

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Romulus home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
