“Sarah was great watching Jenny. Spoiled her by bringing treats which Jenny loved. She even handed out Halloween candy to the children in the neighborhood. Jenny told us she would enjoy having Sarah watch her again, we told her that sounds like a good idea! Thank you Sarah.”

“Kat took amazing care of our fur babies and house! Our dogs instantly liked her and felt comfortable with her. Kat was very kind, respectful, had good communication, and you can tell she is an animal person! We will definitely use her again to dog sit!”

“We are so appreciative of Taylor and Mary for taking such wonderful care of Luna! The communication, daily photos, and peace of mind knowing our girl was in great hands made our trip so much more relaxing. When there was a possibility of a flight delay or cancellation, Taylor was so flexible and kind, even offering to stay an extra night with Luna. That really put us at ease during an already stressful situation! We would absolutely love to have them watch Luna again on our next trip and hope they’re available. We can’t recommend them enough!”

“#1 Gabby and Kade toke such good care of our doggie! They sent me updates and pictures throughout the day of Maggie and their care of her. They communicated with us so well and made us feel totally comfortable knowing our doggie was still living her best life :) #2 They toke such good care of our home. They went over and above and watered my flowers and left the home just like we left it. Everything washed and put away. So nice. Highly recommend Gabby and Kade!”

About: I've worked with many breeds of dogs. Mostly small to mid-size dogs with a variety of traits. Mostly working dogs namely Blue Heelers & Huskys. I tend to live an active lifestyle and that means hiking/walking/and lots of exercise. Rest assured both me and your pooch will be getting a good workout! In the past I've facilitated overnight lodging for dogs, and temporary stays of up to a few days. Be noted I do not currently have a large open or fenced in yard. I work with neighbors and friends pets on quite a regular basis! I regularly feed, train, walk & care for pets when away or on business! I work from home so this environment provides a perfect spot for pets to be nurtured & played with consistently! I always check prior to booking any special exercise and or dietary needs of your pet. Ensuring door remain locked when inside and timer's are set for when pets receive food upon client preference. Safety is of the upmost priority, so I will discuss a full plan and schedule so you know where you pup is and his progress while away. I will send regular check in photos to provide accountability for myself and the clients well being.

About: Whether you are coming home from a day of work or play, a weekend adventure or a well-earned vacation, you will come home to tired, happy and exceptionally well cared for pets. My name is Patricia and I have been caring for pets for over twenty years. I had my own pup for 10 blissful years and he was my world. Therefore, I passionately understand the importance of proper care for the four-legged members of your family. Having no children or pets of my own allows me to focus 100% of my time on yours, curating customized experiences, based on their individual needs. I am professional, reliable and have additional references to provide, if desired! I am a very active individual, usually covering 15 miles per day. I am centrally located in Spokane, and am willing to travel to you! I would be honored to give your pets a safe, fun and dependable experience while they are in my care. 100% available to craft a schedule that works best for each pet of yours in my care. Currently, this is my full-time job and I love it! Our home and yard are very pet-friendly. We have a six foot tall fence, completely enclosed to provide room to play, roam, relax while at the house.
About: I’ve been caring for dogs for 8+ years and have always had a love for animals. I’m experienced with dogs and cats of different sizes, ages, and personalities. I’m patient, attentive, and treat every pet like they’re my own. Whether your dog needs walks, playtime, medication, or company while you’re away, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I’m also very attentive to their routines and will keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel at ease while you’re away. I currently work part-time and have a flexible schedule, so I’m able to offer plenty of time and attention to your pet. I can work around your pet’s routine and am happy to accommodate walks, drop-ins, and overnight care when needed. I have a safe, comfortable home with a fenced yard and plenty of space for your pet to relax and play. I have a friendly dog who is used to being around other animals, but I’m also happy to keep pets separated when needed.
About: PLEASE NOTE: CURRENT LOCATION IS NYON, SWITZERLAND. I PROVIDE SERVICES IN SWITZERLAND AND FRANCE AND AM AWAITING ROVER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SWAP ME TO A FOREIGN ACCOUNT/CHANGE LOCATION. I am “that” dog owner who gets dog themed gifts from everyone, plans my day around adventures with my pups, makes my own organic treats and massages their paws with lotion before bed. I knew from an early age I didn’t want children of my own, so they really are my babies! I recently moved to Nyon, but work in Geneva. I struggled to find pet care I felt comfortable with moving here, so I know what is lacking in the industry and I would love to treat your pets like my own. I’m huge on cuddling if your dog is lazy like my golden, but also keen to keep active outdoors if they’re full of energy like my lab. No size too small or too large, no breed that scares me. I will follow your instructions to a “T,” because id hope my sitter would do the same. One of my dogs has allergies and acid reflux, so I’m comfortable administering medication! Photos and videos guaranteed throughout or time together, I can even make you some of my personalized pup cakes. On hot days, I make popsicles to keep them cool and take them to swim in the river behind my house. I also have a car with doggie seatbelts, so we can do park visits! I work from home, so I can devote as much time as needed to making sure your babies are cared for in a way that suits their needs! I live in a flat, but have a 42 square meter terrace and work from home. So, I am able to take them outside for as long as specified by you. I have two very friendly dogs of my own who will keep them company if you’d like, or we can do solo drop ins and walks. I live in a dead end street that is quiet and surrounded by nature (River, woods, vineyard). Please see my reviews, I am also background checked as I work for an international organization (and can provide anything you need to feel safe). More than happy to meet beforehand so we can have a coffee and make sure everything is a good fit!
About: I have taken care of animals including dogs of all sizes as well as cats since I was young. I grew up with 7 dogs at one point and now we have a cat as well. I am a stay at home mother, so my availability is open often during the week and weekends and would love to help when I can :) I will treat your animals as well as I do my own. Making sure they had food, water, and had outside time frequently to use the bathroom and play if allowed.
“First time user of the Rover app and we had Rachel over to our house for 6 days to watch our 2 goldens. It was a perfect match. She brought her Golden with her and they all got along so well. 2 swimming trips to the river and lots of play time at our house. She treated our dogs like they were her own. Lots of daily communication, videos and pictures made us feel at ease with having someone that we barely knew, watch over our house and dogs. There was even a new dog toy and chews left behind for the boys. Do no hesitate to book Rachel for any of your pet sitting needs. We will definitely reach out to her again when the time comes for another booking.”

“We contacted Molly last minute as another sitter canceled and she was wonderful with immediate contact and initial meeting set up. Our dogs loved her and everything went very well. She stayed in contact with us during our time away. I will definitely be asking for her help again as needed. It was so great to enjoy our vacation knowing our pups were so well cared for.”

“Rachel was amazing! She had great communication the entire time and we loved the updates she sent us. Sadie (my dog) was well taken care of and we would definitely have Rachel dogsit again.”

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and truly believe pets are part of the family! Growing up, I regularly pet sat and walked dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities, and I’ve also cared for cats and understand that they each have their own routines, personalities, and comfort levels. While in college, I worked as a Wag! walker and absolutely loved getting to know different dogs and their individual personalities. I now have a Mini Schnauzer of my own who is very much part of the family. I’ve also traveled with dogs, so I know firsthand how important it is to have someone you trust caring for your pets while you’re away. I’m friendly, active, dependable, and genuinely love spending time with animals. Whether your dog loves long walks and adventures, your cat prefers some quiet company and attention, or your pet just needs someone to keep their normal routine, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I have a flexible routine that allows me to make plenty of time for pet care throughout the week. I’m active and enjoy getting outside, so walks and playtime fit naturally into my day. I’m also happy to work around your pet’s normal schedule for meals, potty breaks, walks, playtime, or just some extra company and attention. I know consistency is important for pets, so I’ll do my best to keep their routine as familiar and comfortable as possible while you’re away. I want every pet in my care to feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I have a fully fenced backyard with plenty of room for supervised play and potty breaks, as well as a friendly Mini Schnauzer of our own. I know every pet is different, so I’m happy to follow their usual routine and give them the space or attention they need. We also have a basement area that can be completely blocked off if your pet prefers their own quiet space or needs some time away from our dog. In your home, I’ll treat your space with respect and follow your instructions closely so your pet can stay happy and comfortable in their familiar environment.
About: My first job was a at a doggy daycare/ boarding facility but I have been pet sitting since I was 12. I’ve worked with puppies all the way through seniors receiving cancer treatment. I have a playful golden retriever who adores all animals big and small. I have experience bathing and giving insulin to cats too. I volunteered at a rescue ranch for a number of years and have experience with livestock. I personally have ducks, chickens, reptiles and a senior cat as companions for my golden. I am currently working 3 days a week for a tax office and am unavailable from January to April. On my off days I hike and take my golden to the river. I have a contract that I have been using since 2010 that outlines my safety procedures. When I am in a clients home I always have them review it and do a walk around of the home with them. From my years at doggy daycare I am pretty familiar with certain breed characteristics like the awesome heights husky’s can jump or the tunneling ability of a weenie. I also am very understanding about separation anxiety as someone who has worked at rescues. For walks I require a harness or collar the dog cannot slip out of. I require an in person meeting beforehand, if doggy play dates with my dog are requested we must meet on neutral ground first to see how they interact.
“I can't say enough how much I appreciate and love Ashten & Shelby! They did amazing with my pup as always and even earned some kitty cuddles which is very rare for my cats when they're around strangers. as an employee of Rover, this is the experience i hope for all Rover users”

My husband and my two boys helped me as well when they are home.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rockaway Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rockaway Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rockaway Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
