“My pups had THE BEST time with Mariah. They are rescues from during Covid, and we are working on their anxiety. Mariah gave me so much confidence that the dogs were in good hands. She was thoughtful, resourceful, and therapeutic for the dogs. She facilitated play with her larger dog and sent us priceless videos of the fun they were having. Mariah is someone you want in your dog’s life!!”

“Mike was awesome with my two crazy pugs!! It was my first time EVER leaving them, and he made me feel very comfortable. He also took pictures throughout the day to help reassure me that they were happy. I am a very protective fur mom and would highly recommend mike:)”

“Janet was fantastic! She took great care of Luna while we checked out the Cape May zoo and a couple of restaurants. Luna had a blast running around the pool with Bo, and Janet kept us updated with fun pics. Plus, she was super flexible with us when the weather kept changing, letting us adjust our plans. We’ll definitely reach out to her next time we’re in the area! Thanks again, Janet!”

“Alexa was very responsive and was flexible in accommodating us for the care of our dog while vacationing in ocean City as we took a day to visit Cape May with a celebratory Birthday dinner. Thank you Alexa!”

“Kelley was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly flexible, communicated with us proactively and throughout Kal’s stay, and took fantastic care of him. Her huge fenced-in property gave him plenty of room to run and play, and her three sweet kids were so excited to spend time with him. It was clear Kal was loved and well cared for while we were away. We will happily book with Kelley again the next time we go down the shore.”

She was very responsive, provided awesome updates & it was clear to us when we picked Benni up, that he had a wonderful time in her care!! I would highly recommend Megan to anyone looking for a kind, trustworthy & responsive fellow pet lover to care for your fur baby!! “Jessica is amazing with Fur babies. Very accommodating and professional. My Tug love going there. Its always a great day whenever he spends his day with her. Her dog Tashi is very good with other dogs. Tug's favorite retreat is his stay at Jessica's. Highly recommended 👌”

“Top tier service! This was my first time using this service and I am so elated I ran into Sterlin. She provided constant communication about the activities she was doing with Bear which made me extremely comfortable and relieved. I also think Bear fell in love as well. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pet as if they are there own there’s no need to look any further…YOU FOUND HER!”

“Michele was awesome, put both Sadie and me at ease immediately. Sadie hadn’t stayed with a sitter for over 3 years but she was calm and affectionate with Michele and I’m not sure she wanted to leave! I’ll definitely use her services again.”

About: Taking care of animals brings me so much joy! I live at the beach and love walking dogs through my neighborhood to the beach. I am comfortable controlling big, strong dogs on walks. I grew up with 2 dogs and have always loved animals. My sister is a veterinarian and has taught me a lot. She is on call if your animal has any health issues. I’m in a career transition right now, so your business so greatly appreciated ❤️ I am a yoga instructor working part time, so I have a lot of time for your pets! My typical day is: wake up early, walk the dog I’m caring for, feed the pup, let out again, then teach yoga. I’m gone for about 3 hours then return home for a long walk with the pup :) then we relax at home as I typically work on my computer. Your pup will be the only dog in my house - he or she will have all my love and attention! I am happy to have your pet sleep in my bed and lay on my couch if they want! I love walking and have plenty of have time for long walks. I have training on how to safely handle reactive dogs on leash. I do not have a fully fenced in yard, but am happy to take your dog to the dog park if that would be helpful to release energy! The beach is also a short walk away :)
“Kateri was hands down the best Rover that I’ve ever had my dog Pumpkin visit ❤️. She was super communicative, understanding with my timeline, provided lots of pictures, and gave me the CUTEST report card when I picked up Pumpkin. Highly recommend to anyone!”

“Bob was very responsive. I booked with him last minute, -and he was able to fit my pet Chula in. We were visiting rehoboth beach and did not realize it is not a dog friendly beach. I am glad Chula was able to hang with other pups at Bob’s while we enjoyed a relaxing beach day. Chula had a blast and slept very well the whole night and the next day as well.”

“I cannot say enough great things about Michele! She has given me my life back! I have two little rescues that are highly reactive and do not like anyone, so consequently I have been unable to leave them. After talking with Michele and getting a sense of her experience and patience with rescue.dogs such as mine I decided to give her a try...and it went beautifully! My dogs had a great time with her and loved her...and cannot wait to go back again! Michele is truly not just very much a professional but is gifted with animals as well.”

“Our Bichon, Jeffrey walked into Denise's home and didn't even say goodbye! He felt completely at home! The backyard is completely fenced in and just so charming! We got pictures of Jeffrey relaxing and napping while we were out. We didn't worry about him at all!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Rio Grande
We needed a sitter for a few hours while visiting Wildwood, and Alexa was great. Super accommodating with our last minute changes in schedules, which facilitaed our planes a lot since we were comming from out of town. Most importantly, Roco went with her without a doubt and came back happy. Not anxious, and saying good bye to her in a loving way. And that for us is the best sign that he was in good care.

Mae Ann was super accommodating to our last minute request for a two day sitter, and was such a great friend to our dog Sunny! We got pictures of our happy pup being well taken care of and she had such a great time on the property and with the others! She obviously incredibly experienced and we're so happy with her help!!

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
