Samantha was great. Her communication was consistent. The dogs really liked her. Even my little one, who is very afraid of new people, warmed up to her right away.

About: I’ve taken care of and interacted with all sorts of animals: dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, and even snakes and tarantulas! Pets that are under my care are always given the best treatment and care that they deserve! I am currently a volunteer at All Those Left Behind Animal Rescue. Through the rescue, I’ve handled dogs with behavioral issues, diseases, cancers, special needs, and those with age-related problems. I work part-time Mondays-Fridays in the evening with all holidays off. Additionally, I am a full-time college student with classes that vary each semester.. I am extremely flexible and even on the days that I am busy, I will try my best to find time for your pet to ensure the most comfortable experience! Unfortunately, I cannot care for pets in my home due to family relations and a skittish cat, but I am more than open to caring for your pet in your home! With all the necessary materials, directions, and details, I can ensure that your pet is safe and comfortable while you are away!

About: I have a corgi/golden retriever. Kashi loves other dogs and playing outside. I have had Kashi since he was a puppy. We would go on walks together and have playtime. Love lounging around as well. I am a stay at home mom so I will have plenty of time to play/pay attention to you’re animal, they won’t be alone. We have a backyard where I take my dog outside on the leash. My cat also goes on a leash outside. We have play time and also have a splash pad/hose for the pup!

The experience with Diane was great! We will not hesitate to book with her again. She recently stayed for 4 nights with our 90-lb German Shepherd Dog. Being so comfortable with Diane made being away so much more enjoyable and relaxing. Diane sent multiple videos throughout each day to reassure us that our boy was getting exercise and having a good time. In addition, she took great care in the house. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. 5 Stars!!

About: I’ve handled pets of my own and have provided at home care for friends or family members my whole life. When needed I’ve boarded animals at my own home for friends or family. There’s nothing like a good break with furry friends that helps the day go by. Currently I have a flexible scheduled and enjoy the opportunity. I always make sure that animals are given loving attention. It’s important that they are provided with the bathroom, sleeping and toy accommodations they deserve and the exercise they need. I understand the need for routine.

About: I’ve been taking care of pets since childhood. First it was cats, then dogs, and I’m now a proud owner of a Quaker parrot. I’m willing to walk or pet sit dogs, help pet sit cats at their own home, and the same with exotic birds. Someone is always home with the pet and we also help you dog get socialized with our parrot. When I had dogs, I let them sleep on the bed with us. I also let them sit on the furniture, too. And I do spoil them, also. I work full time in the afternoon shift but my boyfriend works mornings so there is always someone home. He loves animals, too! I do my best to work around my schedule. Our bird Kerry only goes in his cage when we are both out of the house and at bedtime. Otherwise, we let him out. Kerry is used to dogs. He likes to talk to dogs.

Sarah was amazing with our pack of geriatric pets! She sent pictures every day, and she communicated everything really well. Taking care of our pets is somewhat complicated because of their ages, but Sarah took detailed notes and nailed everything perfectly. Our house was nice and clean when we came home. Sarah was also flexible with our flight delays and stayed an extra night to make sure there was no gap in care while we were struggling to get home. We really couldn't have asked for a better, more trustworthy person to take care of our babies. Thank you so much, Sarah, you were amazing!

I recommend Marisol and would give 6 stars if I could. She stayed in our home and watched our large anxious dog over July 4th when there were massive storms. I did not have to worry one bit about our dog's nerves, as she did everything possible to comfort him when he was scared (stormed for days!). She followed all of my instructions beautifully, gave detailed updates, and left my house clean and tidy. Marisol exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely use her again and refer her to my friends and family!

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover! I grew up with two wonderful dogs and I’ve raised my three cats since they were kittens, so I understand just how much care, patience, and attention pets need to feel safe and happy. They’re part of my family, and I treat every animal I care for with that same level of love and respect. I also really enjoy spending time with pets and getting to know their unique personalities. Whether your pet is playful and energetic or more laid back and cuddly, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at and make sure they feel comfortable while you’re away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I take that responsibility seriously. You can count on me to provide reliable, attentive care for your furry loved ones! I work full time remotely, so as long as I can bring my laptop I can work from anywhere with wifi. I take frequent breaks so I can play with and give your pets plenty of attention. I take careful attention to detail when it comes to care instructions and the things that make every pet unique. I’m very flexible and adaptive; always happy to accommodate their needs.

FAQs for House Sitting - Ridgecrest

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 691 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ridgecrest. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ridgecrest walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ridgecrest maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ridgecrest choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ridgecrest. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
