“Katrina and her children took great care of my pup while I was away for the holidays. She sent lots of updates and photos. Her dogs are super sweet and were great playmates for Luna. She came home happy and tired from all the playtime. Katrina provided all of the dogs with Christmas treats and they each got to unwrap and keep a present! Great service. I will definitely contact Katrina in the future when Luna needs a place to stay.”

“Im very happy with the care Joey received during his stay, Brooke gave Joey amazing care! I highly recommend Brooke and Brent. I’m so thankful to find someone I can trust. I will use them again!”

“Samantha was great. We felt very comfortable leaving our dog there for eight days. We met in her home before we hired her. We knew from the moment we met her it would be a good fit.”

“Roxy and her family took such good care of our dog Coco! They were easy to communicate with, and they kept us updated on his adventures. They have plenty of space in their fenced in yard. Coco really enjoyed his time with Roxy and her family!”

“Sadie loved her stay, with Kim and her family! Kim does a great job of updating you daily, and also sends pics daily, as well! They took great care of our fur baby, and would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a dog sitter! 🙂”

About: I have nine years of pet care experience. I raised and showed Rex rabbits for 4 years. Personally I have trained and care for my own dogs. After High School I work in an Animal Hospital. My duties there included receiving the animals for appointments, prepping and assisting in surgeries, keeping accurate records, cleaning and sanitation of the facilities, I am working at the Boone Veterinary Hospital currently! I am available to care for pets full time as I am looking to make a career out of caring for pets as I pursue a position as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician. I would be able to care for the animals in their own homes keeping them safe in the comfort of their own space and environment.
“Jenna is a great caregiver! She was very friendly and accommodating. She went out of her way to work with my schedule and was super sweet about it. Luna also seemed quite happy and comfy staying with her.”

“Our 2 dogs had a great time during their 1-week stay with Alysha and her family! She was consistently quick to respond and sent pictures daily, which we really appreciated! Our dogs enjoyed the mini pool in her backyard and many treats. We have no complaints from their stay with her! Would re-book if needed in the future!”

“Incredible sitter! House was clean and she’s very thoughtful and caring. Sent lots of updates and was accommodating with our schedule. I highly recommend this couple and they will go above and beyond to care for your pups! We’re def sticking with them.”

“Hannah was amazing! She showed our sweet Butter so much love and we felt totally comfortable and confident that our anxious dog was being cared for so well the entire time we were away. Hannah sent tons of photos and updates which is always the best. We highly recommend her and would leave Butter with her again in a heartbeat.”

“Addison was absolutely AMAZING!! She flexible in drop off and pick up times, let us know how our pup was acclimating, and was very involved. She will hands down be our first choice moving forward with our future boarding needs!!”

“We love having Beth take car of our dog as she loves him like she would her own. She is reliable, flexible and responsible. We get daily updates along with photos. She’s our go-to when we visit Ames and she always walks him before we pick him up so he’s tired on the long car ride home.”

About: I've grown up with pets my whole life - dogs, cats, cows, horses, hamsters, mice, you name it I probably had it at one point. I have a dog of my own as well. I like to say I've had animal experience my whole life, but formally I have had over 8 years of experience in the animal care industry. I have spent time in veterinary clinics, grooming, boarding, doggy daycare, dog training, permanent sanctuaries, rehabilitation facilities, and farms. I have also fostered multiple dogs from local rescues. I recently earned a bachelors degree in animal science and currently attend veterinary school at ISU. I really really love animals and everything about them, and I would love to spend some time with your pet when you're not able to! Pet care is built into my schedule and comes as second nature to me now after being immersed in it for so long. On average, a minimum of 3-5 hours of my day are dedicated to my animals. I enjoy taking my dog on multiple walks a day, of varying lengths, to ensure he has enough mental stimulation and exercise to meet his needs. Training is also a constant in my household, whether that be scheduled training sessions, or simply consistent work throughout daily tasks. I find it important to build a bond with my animals as well as those I meet, and training helps strengthen that bond. Outdoor activities (walks, meeting friends dogs, swimming, fetch, etc.) and training exercises are my primary methods of exercise and activity with my pet, and would be with clients pets as well. On days it's not so nice I like to work on training inside or find new enrichment activities to keep my pet occupied and stimulated. I take pride in keeping my environment and my animals’ clean, so I regularly bathe and brush my dog, as well as clean food and water bowls. I will care for my clients pets as I would care for my own.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Rhodes home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Rhodes.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Rhodes sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
