About: Hi! I'm an animal care professional who really enjoys working with pets and making sure they feel safe, comfortable and taken care of when their people are not around. 🐾 I have a lot of hands on experience caring for dogs and other animals. I have worked in animal shelters and currently working as an Assistant Manager at a highly-rated dog boarding and daycare facility. From these experiences I have learned a lot about animal body language, behavior, handling, how to use a leash and how to create a calm space for pets that have different personalities and needs. I also know how to give medications, including special kinds of medications and injections when it is needed. I have experience seeing signs that animals are stressed or that there is a conflict between them. I know how to step in when it is necessary and I focus a lot on preventing problems and keeping every pet safe. No matter if your pet needs a fun walk a visit at home some company while you're away or careful attention to their daily routine I can offer care that is tailored to what makes them most comfortable. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pets and your home. I take that duty very seriously. My goal is for you to feel sure that your pets are, with someone who's knowledgeable, capable and kind. ❤️🐶🐱 I would really like the chance to meet you and your pets! Pet care fits naturally into my schedule! I currently work part-time, which gives me flexibility to provide pet care around my work hours. I’m generally available for evening drop-in visits and walks, and I can also offer overnight house sitting on weekends when I’m not scheduled to work. I’m happy to work with your pet’s normal routine and make sure they receive the attention, exercise, companionship, and care they need while you’re away. I’ll always communicate my availability clearly and do my best to accommodate your pet’s schedule! Safety, Trust & Environment I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big responsibility. My priority is creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment where your pet can feel secure while you’re away. My professional experience has taught me how to recognize animal body language, identify signs of stress or discomfort, safely manage different personalities, and prevent potentially unsafe situations before they happen. I take introductions slowly and respect each pet’s individual boundaries, whether they are outgoing and playful or shy and nervous. I also understand the importance of maintaining your pet’s normal routine. I’ll follow your instructions regarding feeding, walks, medications, potty breaks, crate routines, and other care needs as closely as possible. You can expect honest communication, dependable care, and updates so you know how your pet is doing. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel comfortable, safe, and confident while they’re in my care.
About: Since I was five years old when we adopted our family puppy, I have been involved in taking care of dogs. I have also over 350 hours of shelter volunteer experience in walking dogs, giving medications, and obedience training. Since I am hoping to be a vet one day, I am always wanting to meet new animals and give them the best care possible! I currently work part-time, 3-5 days a week from 8-4. I can usually get away to let your dog out at lunch if needed. Bottom line is if I am pet-sitting for you, your animal will be my priority! I do not have the capacity to care for your pet in my house, but I can provide whatever level of care you need in for your pet in your own home! If you need me to stay the night, I can do that. I am a detail-oriented person so whatever your pet needs I feel confident I can provide it.
About: I have had dogs and various pets in my household since I was born and adore any animal. I am experienced in caring for puppies, senior dogs, and both large and small breeds. I understand that each pet has different needs and personalities and love helping to make a loving and safe space for them while their people are away. I am currently a full time Biology student at Marshall University. I can walk/check in on your pet(s) in the mornings, midday, or in the evenings. I am available to stay with your pet any nights. I will follow any instructions and schedule given. I like to make sure that pets get plenty of play and interaction time during the day and make it a priority to spend day time with your pets.
“With having just recently moved to West Virginia and this being our first time using Rover, we were extremely nervous leaving our kitties for this trip. But Josie and Jake gave us sooo much peace of mind. They were absolutely AMAZING, went above and beyond, like I cannot emphasize enough how great they were! They treated our furballs like their own (even though Misha made them partake in hide & seek competitions every visit), followed their schedules (food, medications, extra directions, etc.) perfectly, and always provided humorous but informative notes and pictures every check-in. We will 100% be booking with them again!”

“Kensie was a very good caretaker for our shy cat Carmen. Carmen is usually very shy but she took a liking to Kensie almost right away. She also came to the house a couple more times other than our original plan to check on Carmen when she thought Carmen was sick. But those extra times were logged, so they were paid for.”

“Andrea (Annie) was prompt every day, sent regular photos and communication! Our pets got top shelf care and were in excellent condition when we got back home!! Andrea will be our go to sitter from now on!!”

About: We have a black lab beagal mix at our house and we have trained him and have taken him to training classes. I also am very flexible with the times I can walk that dogs. I can also run with the dogs with the client wants me to! With having a dog it is daily. We take our dog for walks most days unless it is raining or too hot out. We love him like he is our own kid :) I would not take a clients animal into our house. I would primarily walk them around the area to make sure they have been walked. If the client wants me to run with them as well I can do that too!

I’m patient with shy or anxious pets and adjust my approach based on their comfort level. I treat every home with respect, ensure pets are safe and happy before leaving, and provide updates and photos after each visit so owners can feel confident their pet is well cared for.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Proctorville
Josie is wonderful and has a way w/ my kitties.. She always sends pics of them and writes what was done and who she was able to pet each day. I'm not the least bit hesitant in asking her to watch them and it's great knowing she is developing a good relationship w them as well. I hate leaving them but know they're in excellent hands when I'm away. 😁

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
