“We both (my furbaby and myself) absolutely adore Christina! We go twice a week and my pup is so excited when I say “wanna go to day care?” She is exhausted when I pick her up! I love that Christina takes pictures so I get to see my girl in action and the other doggies she is playing with. I also truly appreciate the advice and feedback she offers. I feel blessed that we found her 🥰”

About: I’ve owed and taken care of animals for decades. They are an indelible part of families and should be treated with an abundance of love. I am recently retired and have plenty of time to love and care for animals. Your pet will be treated as a member of my family. I have owned four dogs but they have all crossed the rainbow bridge. I have a fenced yard. Your pet will be allowed on my furniture and sleep in my bed (if they want to).
About: As a passionate dog lover, I’ve been providing dog sitting services for 20 years, and it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! Throughout my journey, I’ve had the pleasure of caring for a diverse range of breeds, from energetic puppies to laid-back seniors. Each dog has its own unique personality, and I’ve loved tailoring my care to meet their individual needs—whether it’s extra playtime, long walks, or cozy cuddle sessions on the couch. I prioritize creating a safe and comfortable environment for every dog in my care. I’ve developed strong routines that include regular feeding schedules, exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation through games and training. My goal is to make sure your furry friend feels loved and happy while you’re away! I also understand how important communication is. I provide daily updates and photos so you can see just how much fun your pup is having. Many of my clients have commented on how relieved they feel knowing their dogs are in capable hands. Being a dog sitter isn’t just a job for me; it’s a chance to build lasting relationships with amazing pups and their owners. I can’t wait to meet your furry family member and give them the love and attention they deserve! I work from home, so your fur baby can go out frequently and get extra cuddles during the day! This is especially beneficial for puppies and older dogs. My large backyard, complete with a secure 4-foot fence, is the perfect playground for dogs to run, explore, and enjoy the great outdoors—especially on sunny days! At night, your furry friend will feel right at home. I provide a variety of cozy sleeping options, including crates, comfortable beds, and even couches for those who love to snuggle up. I prioritize creating a safe and comfortable environment, so your pup will have a restful night’s sleep after a day full of fun.
“Keena provided amazing day care for my dog, Jasper. I could tell he how much he liked her right away. Jasper joined Keena and her family for a day full of fun activities. Keena shared so many wonderful photos. I would highly recommend her and plan to use her services again.”

About: I have had my own pets since I was a young child. I have taken care of many of my friends, family, neighbors, and church members pets over the years. I love dogs and kitties and believe they deserve to be well taken care of. They depend on us to be good to them and are at our mercy. If they are mistreated they can't say anything. This makes it that much more important to be good to our pets. I am not currently working so I have a lot of free time. I have 6 grown children who are on thier own. Two in college, the rest with their own families. I have one friendly lab mix who loves playmates. A fenced in yard, doggie door, and all hardwood floors so accidents are not tragic! I am within walking distance of our city bike/walking trail for long doggie walks.
“I can’t say enough about how great Lauren was with our puppy. She was so kind and loving to him and he was very well cared for. She was super flexible with our schedule, which I greatly appreciate! I would give her a 10 star review if I could. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!”

“We love taking Belle to Melissa. We feel she is safe with her and her family. I’m so happy I found Melissa and Belle has a great relationship. Belle moved from a different part of Illinois where she was the neighborhood dog and everyone’s friend. Melissa’s service has eased our minds and we are greatly appreciative. Thank you Melissa!”

About: I have taken care of pets since I was 6 from my personal pets to my aunts or neighbors I’ve always cared for and adored animals. Caring for pets isn’t just “checking in” to me — it’s making sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and understood while you’re away. I specialize in working with cats (especially shy, anxious, or independent ones who don’t warm up to everyone), but I also provide loving, attentive care for dogs of all sizes and personalities. With my background as a licensed pharmacy technician, I bring an extra level of attention to detail when it comes to medications, routines, and noticing small changes in behavior. Whether your pet needs basic care or a little extra support, I’ve got it covered. I also keep a small pet supply inventory on hand — so if you’re busy or forget something (food, litter, treats, etc.), I can help without it turning into a stressful situation. You’ll always get consistent updates, photos, and honest communication so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands. I treat every pet like they’re my own — with patience, structure, and a lot of love. I am currently a stay at home mom, so your pets can get most of my undivided attention from me and my daughter who also adores animals. I do not have a fenced yard, but i have a big back and front yard definitely enough space for any pet to enjoy! I let my daughter play out there while I watch.
“I have used Shannon to care for my dogs 4 times now and every time has been great. Shannon is very accommodating and flexible, which I really like because my life is hectic. My dogs seem to love going there, they rush right in as soon as she opens the door. They are always good natured when I pick them up, which tells me that Shannon is treating them right. She sends me pictures throughout their stay and keeps me updated. I plan on using her every time I need a pet sitter. Finding someone reliable and dependable and caring is a real comfort to me when I have to leave my pets.”

FAQs for Doggy Day Care - Prairietown
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 227 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Prairietown. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Prairietown commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 227 sitters in Prairietown, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
