“Melanie went out of her way to come meet Olivia and us before her time to dog sit. She was flexible, communicated very well and did an excellent job. This was our first time to use Rover and we are hooked! Thank you!”

“Maddie made me feel that my precious cat was going to be well-taken care of while we were away, and she did not disappoint. Prompt and courteous, I have already recommended her to a neighbor. I hope she will be able to allow me to travel without worry many more times in the future.”

“Alexis does a great job for me. She’s very conscientious. Both my dogs like her from what I could see in the pictures that she sends me and she does extra things with the dogs. Doing some obedience training with my younger dog. When I first started using Rover, I just expected her to let the dogs out so they could go to the bathroom. She does more than I expected would highly recommend her.”

“She was wonderful! We took a last minute trip and Julie was able to accommodate us. She sent pictures and let us know how our kitties were doing. Will absolutely use her again. Thank you Julie :)”

About: I grew up taking care of two large dogs and currently have a cat of my own. I'm expirience in pet care and would love to help out any pet that needs looking after. I am currently enrolled in college and only have class Tuesday and Thursday for around three hours. This will allow me to spend most of my day walking, feeding, and playing with your pet! I do not have a yard, but I have a dog leash, dog create, and two cat creates. I can walk your dog multiple times a day if requested. I can create your dog, cat, or my cat if requested as well. I have a three room apartment for your animal to roam in, so they won't be crammed. All animals are welcome to behave as needed for them to feel comfortable; including being on furniture, barking, and playing.
“Chyanne was very attentive and went the extra mile to make sure my cat was occupied and taken care of while I was gone. She even left a card with treats and a toy. Would highly recommend!!!”

“This was my first time using Rover or someone I didn’t know to take care of my cat. I was very nervous. Megan was excellent. She was available at very short notice & did a great job with a very fussy cat. I will definitely look to her again should I need someone to look after my girl. She even went through some extreme weather to make sure my pet was fed. She was dedicated.”

“Laylani is amazing! Our pup LOVED her. She was dependable and caring and I felt so much better about being away. The communication and pictures were so reassuring and my kids excitedly awaited her reports. Highly recommend (just not on the days I need her 😂)!”

“Cole is an incredible and responsible dog sitter that I can trust my pets with. My dogs are very nervous and need some time to adjust to people, especially men, but Cole has went the extra mile to make sure my dogs feel happy and are properly cared for when I can’t be there. He is always quick to respond, easy to work with, and gentle with all my animals. You can tell he truly loves animals and and he has been nothing but kind and professional. Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Porter
I have been booking check in services for my two cats with Madison on and off for the last seven months and have to say she is a fantastic and reliable provider! She responds promptly to all my booking requests, always sends check in photos, and has taken it upon herself to clean my bedding a few times when she noticed the kitties got sick on it. I always feel best having Madison to look after my pets while I’m away.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Porter. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
