“Heather was very nice and patient with my spoiled babies. I was a bit concern about them with their reaction to her large dogs. But she assured me they were ok and wouldn't be left alone with them. so that calmed my nerves . Heather was really nice. I book her again .”

“I boarded my dog with Megan & Jaime for the weekend, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. She was warm and welcoming, and she made my dog, Taj, feel right at home. Her house is beautiful and has a huge fenced-in yard—perfect for dogs to play and relax safely. She even sent me a photo of Taj lounging in the yard, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was happy and well cared for. Taj even came home with a new toy! I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving place to board their dog!”

“Wow, just wow! Olivia has been an absolute blessing for my special needs dog, who can only use his front legs. Her professionalism and understanding nature made both me and my pup feel at ease immediately. Her daily updates and photos meant the world to me, and she even made sure my pup was clean and comfortable by asking before giving him a bath and washing his blankets. It's no amount of words that can express just how thankful I am to have found her. She's the absolute best, and I'll definitely be entrusting her with my dog again. Thanks, Olivia, for everything!”

“This was my big boys first time being with a sitter. I must say he wasn't to happy. Vanessa was extremely patient and kind with him. She allowed him the time to trust her. By the end of the first evening he was jumping all over her. She was awesome!! I would definitely recommend her services to everyone. ?”

About: Your fur babies deserve the royal treatment, which is exactly what they get with me! I have hands-on experience working as a Veterinary Tech, with my roots going all the way back to sudsing up pups as a bather and kennel tech. I even built my own boarding haven, Elsie’s Boarding and Spa, in loving memory of my late partner Justin and my sweet rescue pup, Elsie. When your pets are with me, you can relax knowing they’re safe, spoiled, and loved like family. My daily schedule is dedicated to pet care, giving me plenty of availability outside of my children's school drop-off and pick-up hours. Because of this routine, I can offer consistent check-ins, daytime visits, and flexible drop-off or pick-up windows to easily fit your needs. With years of hands-on experience in veterinary care and animal wellness, pet safety is always my highest priority. I have handled everything from routine bathing and coat care to assisting in surgical procedures. You can have complete peace of mind knowing your pet is in experienced, attentive, and loving hands.
“Abby graciously accepted our booking request and provided a warm, loving home for Bear while we were out of town for the week. Leaving our boy behind is never easy, but Abby, Eli, and their pups made it so much easier. We knew Bear was in great company and would be well cared for. We received several updates and photos throughout the week, and it was clear he quickly made himself at home. More importantly, he looked comfortable, happy, and encouraged to do so. It gave us such peace of mind knowing he was being treated like part of the family. We wouldn't hesitate to book with Abby again!”

About: One of my favorite times of the day is the quiet morning walks with my two pups. Besides my own fuzzy babies, I have experience fostering many types of dogs and cats throughout the years. In college I worked for a pet sitting service. I am also CPR certified for cats, dogs, and humans alike. Rest assure your pets will be taken care of like my own when you are away. About: I’ve loved and cared for animals for a very long time you can even say my whole life. I’ve raised cats, dogs, birds, chinchillas, even a chameleon from babies to adults. I’ve potty trained many puppies, taught them tricks, and even cared for pregnant mommas with puppies. Cats are more of my specialty though i’ve litter box trained them, taught them to walk on a leash, tamed feral cats/kittens. I also volunteer from time to time at the Acadiana Animal Aid shelter helping care for cats/dogs in need of homes. I’m currently working full-time. I work an 8 hour day normally from 8 am - 5 pm, my hours are flexible though. I also have a 1 hour lunch I can take. I’m completely free most weekends. I have a mostly fenced yard where my dog Huck loves to play, it is a little small but we make do with the space we have. My dog and cats gets fed twice a day morning/evening. If I’m caring for an animal in a clients home I can visit in the mornings/lunch/evenings depending on the care needed.
About: I've been a proud pet parent to several fur babies over the years and have always been the go-to helper for family and friends. I’ve also had the joy of fostering puppies through our local rescue. I truly believe our pets are family and understand the importance of treating them with that respect. I live in Abbeville but work in Broussard so I can be available in multiple areas! I work a typical 8 to 5 full-time Monday through Friday so deoending on your location depends on when I can do walks or check-ins. My schedule can be some what flexible at times if scheduled ahead of time. If boarding, we prefer dogs be crate trained while we are at work until we get to know them and see they are okay to be left loose in the house. I have a large yard, two dogs (inside) and a cat (outside). Our pups are trained to stay in the parameters of our yard and leashed trained as well. Their crates are available if they would like to sleep in them but aren't locked often unless staying in a place that requires them to be when we travel or we have other pets with us that may require them to be.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Portage home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Portage.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Portage sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in LA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
