“This was our first time having Patrick watch our dogs and stay at our home, and we couldn’t be more impressed. From the start, Patrick proved to be reliable, responsible, and genuinely caring. He took great care of our dogs—not just covering the basics, but making sure they were comfortable, happy, and sticking to their normal routine. It gave us a lot of confidence knowing they were in such good hands. He also did an outstanding job taking care of our home. Everything was kept clean, organized, and exactly how we left it. It’s not easy trusting someone in your space for the first time, but Patrick made it completely stress-free. Communication was excellent throughout. We received regular updates and photos, which made it easy to relax while we were away. For a first experience, this couldn’t have gone any better. We highly recommend Patrick and will absolutely be using him again in the future.”

“Gabrielle took great care of our cats and was in constant communication with us about how they were doing, including cleaning up a plant that one had knocked over. She also sent lots of pictures which was appreciated.”

About: I have been caring for all different animals since I was a young girl. I am comfortable with all sizes and breeds and happy to take on special needs cases as well. I am very flexible and reliable when it comes to caring for your babies. As long as I am free I’m open to last minute drop ins as I know life happens and sometimes we all need a little help. My dogs are like my babies. They live a better life than I do. When I’m in your home your babies will be treated like mine while respecting all rules in the house (whether they’re set you or your dogs) I am very comfortable reading dogs social cues and am willing to meet them at their pace and comfort levels.
“Natalie was AWESOME with Grey! She came to meet him a few times, before she stayed with him, to insure he was comfortable with her. She was very good with Grey. She played with him more than we do, I am sure. She sent us pictures and videos multiple times a day. She contacted me if something arose that I had not mentioned or explained about his idiosyncrasies. He loves her, and so do we. We were concerned that he would want to go with her, when she left / went home from the stay!! That is how much she did for him.”

“Amelia took great care of our 2 golden retrievers Honey & Maple, and also left our house clean and cared for while we were away for a week. Would absolutely recommend to other owners in need of a sitter. Thank you again for everything, Amelia!”

“Autumn is amazing. My partner and I recently relocated to Pittsburgh with a trip previously planned for overseas. I was worried it would be difficult to find someone to watch our two kids (dogs) for two weeks, but Autumn was there for the rescue. She took amazing care of Butters our senior pup with limited mobility, as well as our younger pup Maeve. Autumn provided updates with photos to make sure that we were well informed while away. She also would reach out to clarify the laundry list of things they need, which I find comforting to know that she is going to make sure everything is going perfect. Our place was clean when we returned and everything looked just as we left it. I will be reaching out to Autumn in the future and recommend her to any parent.”

“Tamakia was absolutely an amazing sitter for our fur babies! She kept us up to date with everything and sent us pictures/videos and went above an beyond what she needed to do. We did not have to worry about them not even one time. We definitely will be getting her again to watch them!!!”

“D'Aujanae did a wonderful job housesitting on my vacation! The pets were all happy and healthy on return, and she was able to extend a day when our flight got delayed for 24 hours. Will be looking to book her again the next time we all go out of town!”

“Autumn did a great job with Mack & Aries while I was traveling on a work trip. They were both comfortable with her and I will not hesitate to use Autumn again for future house sitting needs.”

“Sydney was great with Klaus. She was very good with communication and handled tracking down the dreaded low battery smoke detector. We would definitely use her again.”

“Sydney did a great job taking care of our cat while we were gone. She followed all the instructions we left and kept her company at night as well. She sent so many updates and pictures and was so accommodating!”

“Rachel was a wonderful in-home dog sitter. In addition to being a perfect house guest, she was so kind and caring to my senior pup. She was communicative and left everything in perfect order. Ziggy says he would highly recommend her and would give her 6 stars if he could!”

About: I have taken care of two large breed dogs for over a year. I brought them into my home when they were puppies, and cared for them as they grew into adult dogs. For dog walking, I am able to walk one or two dogs at one time. When walking my own dogs, sometimes I would like to go for a little run just to make sure the pups get the exercise they need. For dog sitting, I like to let the pup(s) out for plenty of bathroom breaks. I will do everything I can to ensure that your pet is well-taken care of. I will be sure to provide a good amount of playtime for your pet to make sure he or she is having a good time! I'm currently working a shift evening schedule on Thursday-Saturday, so I have plenty of time during the traditional work week to look after your pets! I have a fenced yard and would love to spend time with your dog or cat! I would love to play games with your pet, take them on walks, and will be incredibly watchful over them to make sure they don't get into trouble.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Port Vue
Kelly was amazing with my dog, Bucky! He is a little nervous around new people, but Kelly interacted with him in a way that allowed him to open up and be his goofy self. She was excellent at sending updates and pictures each time she visited. Her previous experience with rescues and nervous dogs allowed her to redirect Bucky when he exhibited reactivity on walks. Overall, a great experience.

As of September 2026, there are 1,443 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Port Vue. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Port Vue walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Port Vue maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Port Vue choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Port Vue. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
