I acquired a cat 4 years ago in unplanned rescue from a porta potty(not nasty part just locked inside in hot sun) was a all black kitten we named hom Hades. I also have a blue tick hound and Rottweiler mix who is about 4 years old also a rescue. Both are great with other animals and I treat thwm like my kids because thats what they are to me!
