“Thank you Michelle for your expertise in taking such good care of our cats. We appreciated all the photos you sent during your daily visits. If I have to get another sitter I’ll look to you again. Thank you so very much. Yours truly, Mary and Lee”

“Julie was absolutely amazing with my kitties, and it was such a relief to know that they were in great hands while I was away! I loved getting the photos and thoughtful updates she provided, and my cats loved her! I would give her 10 stars out of 5 if I could!”

“Nicole was awesome! She came for 2 weeks while we were on vacation and took care of our 3 dogs. She communicated everyday and sent pictures. She even helped clean up one of the dogs accidents. She is a great pet sitter! We can’t wait to rebook with Nicole.”

“Allison is truly a cat whisperer who took great care of our three little kitties over a long weekend. We received great updates and photos from each check in which helped us feel more relaxed while away, knowing our cats were in good hands.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for myself and my pets with Jennifer. My dog who can be a bit shy really warmed up to her which is huge! Jennifer’s communication and overall positivity, care, and friendliness is so appreciated and made me feel completely comfortable leaving my dog and cat in her care. Highly recommend!”

“Samantha did an excellent job with my three dogs. They are all 65 lbs, two require pills and the third is a very strong minded (and bodied) dog. She treated them with love and respect. I appreciate how diligent she was with my dogs and how she did not rush in and out. Thank you!!!”

“Samantha took excellent care of our 6-year old Boston terrier while we were on vacation. She stayed in touch with frequent updates and pictures, which we loved! Our minds were at ease knowing our pup was in good hands.”

“Lara is an amazing petsitter! She was so kind, attentive, communicative, professional, and went above and beyond for our cat. She communicated with us every day sending pictures and asking clarifying questions to make sure everything was correct. She even brought supplies to our house when we ran out of bags for the litter box. I could not be happier with the service she provided us. I would highly recommend Lara if you are looking for a genuine and committed pet sitter!”

“Can't thank Elizabeth enough! We needed a drop in visit last minute. Elizabeth responded quickly and came over for a meet and greet within an hour. Elizabeth quickly bonded with Luna our 1 year old pitbull mix. We received updates and pictures during her visit. We will definitely be using Elizabeth in the future.”

“We can't say enough good things about Susan! She did a fantastic job taking care of my family's four dogs while we were away. We loved getting her updates and photos of the dogs and knew they were in great hands the whole time. We will definitely have her watch our dogs in the future!”

About: I grew up working on my aunt’s horse ranch and petting zoo, taming barn cats and swimming with my chocolate Lab, Yogi. Animals have always had a special place in my heart. I specialize in medically sensitive pets, seniors, animals who take their time warming up, and the ones who decide we’re best friends immediately. I care for every animal like I would want someone to care for my own. Clients often tell me, “You must think I’m nuts for doing all this for my pet.” My answer is always, “You should see what I do for mine. 😂” With four cats and a senior rescue dog I truly get it. Our animals are family. They give us unconditional love without words, and they deserve the very best care, patience, and stewardship we can give them. My goal is simple: to give you peace of mind knowing your pets are safe, comfortable, understood, and genuinely loved while they’re in my care. Pet care is my daily life and full-time passion. My schedule is built around providing reliable, attentive care while giving every animal the time they deserve. I treat every home and pet with the same care and respect I expect for my own. I follow routines closely, prioritize safety, communicate consistently, and pay attention to each pet’s individual needs, comfort, and personality.
About: I grew up on a farm, so taking care of all types of pets and animals has always been a part of my life. I’ve been pet sitting since I was young and have obtained more skills in my professional career as a veterinary technician. I can do anything from feeding, walking, bathing, administering medications of all kinds, senior care, puppy care, and everything else under the sun! I’m currently taking a break from my professional career as a veterinary technician so I will be at home all day for at least 5 days a week. I have 4 dogs of my own and a 6 year old step daughter half the time that I care for as well. All animals in the home are pet friendly. I have a small area of fenced in yard with 10 acres of open land. The dogs always love a new play mate!

About: Calm, direct, structured dog walker/sitter. Strong behavior cue recognition, leash skills, and vet/med/admin experience. Great with larger dogs, seniors, and nervous pets. Daily, I check messages, confirm schedules, and plan calm walks/sitting times. Weekends I block longer visits for feeding/meds and behavior notes, keeping routines consistent and stress-free. In clients’ homes, I keep routines consistent, minimize stress, follow written instructions closely, and do calm, structured walk/feeding/med support. I provide behavior notes and quick check-ins.
About: I grew up with dogs and while my current situation isn't conducive to owning, dogsitting and walking suffice the immediate urge. I grew up with St. Bernards, so I can handle dogs of all sizes. My schedule will be very open, but I enjoy waking up early and going on walks, so if that is something that you are looking for I would gladly volunteer my services. I am very active and am ready to tire out your dog in the yard or on a run when necessary. Looking forward to spending time with your dog! I'm taking some time in between jobs, so my days are wide open, but I play soccer in the evenings very regularly, so that is the only part of the day where I may have limitations. I am not able to offer boarding given my apartment restrictions, but I can assure you I will treat your home with care and respect.
About: I’ve grown up around dogs and cared for my own for years. From daily walks and playtime to keeping up with feeding and routines, I make sure pets feel safe, happy, and loved like they’re part of the family. Hi, I’m Mike! I’ve cared for dogs most of my life and know how important it is to trust the person looking after your pet. I make sure every dog feels safe, loved, and part of the family—whether that’s daily walks, playtime, or sticking to their routine. I’m reliable. Ask for the general routine of the pet what special medication if any applicable and any other specific type of care the owners are requesting
About: Hey, thanks for taking the time to stop & read a little about me, let’s get into it! Im a NH native here in PA, Im prior service Navy. These friends of ours sense good people with the first sniff, which makes me confident Im fit for the job! I want to help you to feel comfortable leaving your life-long friend in trustworthy hands, while you carry out your day-to-day business. See you soon! 🐾 I am a stay at home mom, who runs and has enough free time now that it’s almost summer! Can’t put it any easier than that! 😁 I am not currently boarding, but send me a message, we can chat! Also, how I care for your loved one is up to you, that includes in your home, of course! 🥰
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Pine Forge
Jennifer did an incredible job with my senior dog. Normally I never leave him but I had an important doctor appointment that couldn’t be missed. She stopped over to meet him and familiarize herself with his routine. Jennifer was professional, knowledgeable, and so very loving with my special guy. His health was declining and he didn’t want to eat but she diligently coaxed him. I highly recommend Jennifer and I will be saving her number for the future.
I highly recommend Madison!!! They followed all my instructions for feeding and giving my senior dogs their medications, and were careful to monitor that the dogs didn't get each other's food (which is very important because one is allergic to the others food), and then spent time giving love to both my dogs! I particularly appreciated that my oldest (who loves getting pet but can sometimes be overlooked because her younger brother is super social) got plenty of attention (along with her brother) and both were super content and happy when I got home later! It's hard to find someone I trust to care for my sweet senior beagles, both have medical conditions, and I'm so glad I came across Madison!!! I have complete confidence and trust in Madison, and I can tell they truly care about my dogs and will take great care of them when I can't be here! I will definitely use Madison as my first choice next time I need someone to take care of my beagles!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
