She was wonderful with our dog Buster! You could really tell she had a passion for caring for animals, and she made him feel so comfortable. We’re so grateful for the way she looked after our little boy!

Very attentive to our pets’ individual needs. Regular daily communication about our pets with lovely pictures. Provided our anxious dog with extra care and attention to help her through storms and fireworks. We are very grateful to have her watching our cat and dog in our home.

Gracie did a great job with our elderly dog who gets meds. Got regular updates and house was tidy when we returned home. We’ll be reaching out again next time we’re looking for a dog sitter!

About: I’ve had family pets my whole life and I worked at a humane society for four years with both cats and dogs. Over the years I’ve pet sit for quite a few families. I’m currently working part time so I have plenty of time hangout with your doggos. I’m usually working only twice a week with the weekends off so I have lots of free time during the week to check up on the animals. Currently I’m not able to board any animals at my house because I’m renting. When I pet sit for people I love to spend time with the animals, playing with them and giving them lots of pets and attention. Basically treat them like my puppies which are back at my parents house.

About: I have never lived without having both a dog and a cat in my house. Current residents include 2 dogs and 2 cats, but my family has fostered cats/kittens for about 8 years and dogs/puppies for about 5. I have taken care of neighbor's pets for both drop-in visits and extended care periods. I am currently in Graduate School and missing my animals so I would love to come visit yours!! I'm currently taking classes for my Graduate program Monday-Wednesdays, but I am available those evenings and the entire day Thursday-Sundays. I would love to use pet care as a break from homework! I have experience with animals with many different personalities, and I have developed the skill to adjust my approach to each pet to match what they need from a caretaker. Trust between me, you as the owner, and your pet is incredibly important to me, so I am happy to learn how to best support each dog or cat's safety and happiness!

Lakaya was great watching our older dog Caspian! She sent us plenty of updates which put us at ease knowing our dog was well taken care of. At the end of our trip our flight back home was delayed by a day. Fortunately Lakaya’s schedule was open and she was able to watch our dog for another day while we couldn’t be home. We didn’t have to worry about Caspian for our whole trip!

Kim did so well with our 4 fur babies. Dealing with one on medication and one with itchy skin. The cat like her so much she is giving me the cold shoulder after she left. I also appreciated the updates and pictures. We will definitely have her back for the next time we have to leave the “kids” at home.

About: I have had all types of animals since the age of 4: Dogs, rescue dogs, cats, bunnies, ducks, chickens, birds, horses, etc. It’s safe to say I have a ton of experience, knowledge, and confidence when it comes to caring for your furry friend! I am a public school teacher, so I won’t be available between 8am to 5pm during the work week. I am extremely flexible and can make most accommodations work. I am able to do anything to make your pet feel loved, safe, and comfortable in my care. This will require clear and direct communication about your pets character and habits to ensure your pet is happy and comfortable.

About: I’ve taken care of many different kinds of dogs since I was young. My family has a 14 year old Great Dane who I consider my baby. We have also had other smaller dogs such as a mini Aussie doodle and an Italian greyhound. I have been pet sitting dogs since I was in middle school and I always enjoyed spending time with every dog I met. I have a special place in my heart for senior dogs and I have experience with lifting and carrying very large senior dogs with difficulty jumping, as well as caring for dogs with sundowners. I’m also pretty good at getting most dogs to take their meds. I’m a college student so I mostly have evenings and weekends free. Getting a few hours in outside of my regular schedule is really helpful to me. I am very respectful of your space and I want to make sure the dog feels comfortable most of all. I will carefully read the list of tasks I’m left and make sure that everything gets done so that you can come back home with no concerns about your house or your pet.

About: Hi! My name is Abigail, and I’m 24 years old. I’ve been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember, and caring for them has always felt like second nature to me. I have experience working with a wide range of pets, including dogs of all energy levels—from high-energy breeds that need structure and engagement to calm, easygoing companions like golden retrievers—as well as cats with a variety of personalities. I’m comfortable adapting my care to meet each animal’s unique needs. I currently offer in-home pet sitting, providing attentive care in your pet’s familiar environment so they can remain comfortable and stress-free while you’re away. I also provide basic training support and walking assistance, especially for owners who may need extra help keeping their pets active and well cared for. I’m open to caring for other animals as well, such as birds or reptiles, as long as clear instructions are provided to ensure their routines and needs are met properly. With availability during the second half of my week, I’m excited to grow my pet-sitting business long term. My goal is to earn trust, build strong relationships with both pets and owners, and eventually turn my passion for animal care into a full-time career. Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I look forward to connecting with interested pet owners and would be happy to answer any questions. Wishing you a wonderful day! I currently work the first half of the week but am available after 4 PM on Wednesdays and anytime from Thursday through Saturday. With this flexibility, I’m able to provide attentive, reliable care for your pets during my off days. I prioritize creating a calm, safe, and loving environment for every pet in my care. I closely follow each pet’s routine, including feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), and any special instructions provided by the owner. I keep a clean, pet-safe space, supervise pets at all times, and never introduce new animals without permission. In a client’s home, I respect their space and ensure doors, gates, and leashes are always secure. I pay close attention to pets’ body language and behavior to keep them comfortable and stress free. Communication is important to me, so I provide regular updates, photos, and check-ins so owners can feel confident and at ease while they’re away.

About: I have been a pet sitter for friends and family for years! My brother has three German shepherds that I dog sit every time he goes out of town. I have also dog sat for small and medium size dogs too! When I was in high school I took care of someone's kitten within my home for 6 months and it was a life changing experience! I absolutely adore all pets. My new roommate is very allergic to dogs and cats so I am trying to find my pet fix somewhere! Spending time with dogs and cats reduces stress for me and is something that I highly value. I am an adaptable person who can handle any and all needs! Also, I am a very active person and would love to take your pups on runs! I just moved in with someone who is allergic to cats and dogs after living with these animals my entire life. Spending time with cats and dogs reduces my stress and anxiety. I couldn't imagine my life without being around pets so I thought becoming a pet sitter would be the perfect thing! I am an active person as well and growing up I would take my dog on runs. If that is something you would be interested in as well, I'm your girl! My old roommate whom I lived with for 3 years had a cat and we had a schedule for feeding him and cleaning his litter box. Living with him was such a joy! We would cuddle and play everyday. I would also give him fresh fish for treats! The other pets that I am around the most are my brothers German shepherds whom I take care of roughly 6 weekends a year. They are really big dogs that need a lot of food and exercise! They listen very well so we have established a routine that works well for everyone. They get let out to go to the bathroom and while they are out there I prepare all of their food dishes. Then I usually play fetch with them for awhile! When it is really nice out I let them stay outside for as long as they want. They love to come on runs with me, but I only take them one at a time or else I would be flying instead of running!

Autumn took very good care of our dog, an older golden retriever, while we were gone for 8 days. My house was clean and used well. She checked in with us each day, with a picture of the dog:) I would ask for her again, should we need someone.

FAQs for House Sitting - Palmers

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 147 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Palmers. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Palmers walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Palmers maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Palmers choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
