“Emily took wonderful care of our Fiona, providing plenty of updates to us while out of town and ensuring Fi kept the schedule that makes her most comfortable, including plenty of yard time, play, snuggles and naps. We’re so glad to have connected with Emily and will definitely reach out for future sitting!”

“Danielle did a great job with my puppy. She arrived when she was supposed to, did all the extra puppy bathroom breaks/cleanups, kept her out of things, and provided me updates through the night. Thanks!!”

“Rhonda was so kind and provided detailed information on how my elderly dog was doing while I was away. Her communication allowed me peace of mind that my dog was well cared for. I would absolutely recommend her, she took excellent care of my dog and even got her to eat her meds which she typically refuses to do’”

About: Hii!! I’m a patient, caring sitter with 3 years of experience of caring for dogs and cats of all sizes and ages. I’m skilled at giving medications, calming anxious pets, and provided the attention your furry baby needs. I’m happy to send frequent updates to keep you at ease, treating your pet with all the love and care they deserve. I am currently looking for some time to spend with pets when I am not working. I have a passion to be with animals and it brightens my day to help someone and spend time with a cute furry pet. I love to be active and create an environment that the pets can thrive and be loved. I have free time throughout the week to tend to their needs and get them out of the house or play with them to get their jitters out. For dogs, I love to play with them and go for walks or runs so they can go explore. For cats, I make sure their environment is clean and give them constant snuggles and comfort.
“Kristina took plenty of pictures and kept us well informed about how the dogs were doing. She responded quickly to communication, and was easy to work with. We were happy with the care she showed and would employ her services again!”

“Mac was in the absolute best hands with AnnaJulia and Raphael. I truly couldn’t have asked for better communication during my time away. I received consistent updates, great photos, and so much reassurance that my guy was not only well cared for, but genuinely happy and loving life. It was clear he felt completely comfortable and at ease the entire time. After experiencing such a high level of care with a personal touch I can’t imagine trusting anyone else to watch Mac in the future.”

“Yvette was phenomenal. Our dogs received exceptional attention and care in our absence. Our Frenchie Hazy is paralyzed due to IVDD and requires medical care including bladder expressions. Ivette did an outstanding job caring for her, as well as followed all care instructions. Our home was left in better condition than when we left it. We will definitely hire her again to care for our pups.”

About: Every animal has a story. Mine began long before I ever thought of pet care as a service — it began with connection. From the shy pup curled in the corner to the elderly dog whose slow steps spoke of trust earned, I’ve learned that every animal communicates in its own language of wagging tails, soft purrs, and trusting eyes. Over decades, I’ve walked alongside puppies discovering grass for the first time and supported senior dogs whose gentle steps reflect a lifetime of loyalty. With every house sit, I’m not just caring for pets — I’m honoring the bond you share with them, giving reassurance through consistent routines, heartfelt playtimes, and quiet moments of comfort. What sets me apart is not only my experience but my ability to read body language, anticipate needs, and bring peace of mind to both pets and their humans. Pets are the rhythm of my day — they shape my mornings with excitement and my evenings with calm connection. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to be present for walks when the air is crisp, for quiet cuddle time when hearts need soothing, and for check-ins that give owners peace of mind. I simply ask for a day’s notice so I can plan the best moments with your beloved companion. Your pet’s safety is my promise. In my one-story home filled with warmth and gentle energy, two rescue cats have taught me the art of patience, play, and respect for personal space. Our quiet neighborhood offers leash-friendly strolls and ample paths to explore at a comfortable pace. I ensure a calm, structured, and loving environment that supports routine, comfort, and trust.
About: I have worked at a Veterinary Hospital for about 5 years, working to keep their experience as comfortable as possible, along with growing up with cats, dogs, and farm animals.I do work another job so for house/dog sitting I would be getting to the location usually between 6:30-7ish depending on location, so keep this in mind when considering booking me While I work full time my schedule is set so there will not be likely to have unexpected changes giving your animals a good structure to work with I can come to your location to let your dogs out/take them for a walk, as well as feed them and get in playtime while keeping them in a space they feel comfortable.
About: I have always had a dog growing up. Currently have a two-year-old pup named Anna K. I also house sit for a friend our mine down the road every now and then. I can be very flexible making myself available. If you can, a couple days notice would be better. But if not, you can still ask! Have tried multiple training techniques with all the dogs we have had, electric fence, leash, a tie-out cable, and some we eventually let out on their own when they are ready. No small objects around, especially as a puppy, try not to feed them anything but their required food.
About: Growing up, I always wanted to have a dog as a pet - I was gifted a stuffed animal dog at a few days old and was lovingly referred to as "Dog Dog". As I grew up, most animals were in reference to dogs, for example, when I saw dear in my backyard, regardless of how much my parents tried to reteach me, I called them "Dear Dogs". When I was 11, my family adopted a dog (FINALLY), as a young puppy, and between my mom and I primarily, we trained and raised him to be our own, fun loving, laidback, dream dog. Whether it be high school, college, or as an adult, I have always found myself being drawn to animal care as more of a passion than a job - it fills my cup and brings me a lot of joy. Pet care has been a large part of not only my nannying experience of 3 years and babysitting, but also a way to help me pay for graduate school. I do over-nights, longer term stays, walks, and anything in between. For the last 6 years, I have lived with roommates that have both dogs and cats, who I have treated and cared for like my own pet. Additionally, I have experience fostering dogs, pet sitting multiple animals at once, as well as have experience caring for dogs of all sizes and needs (medical pills, drops, chemo, and wide range of anxiety levels). Overall, I have taken care of a wide range of animals of all ages, from puppies who are young and rambunctious, to older dogs and cats that need special care and attention. The only reason I don't currently have a dog of my own is due to a busy work schedule myself (I am a college rowing coach in the area for a team of 55 student-athletes) and I don't feel it would be fair to have a pet I could not give all of myself to. So, I am drawn and dedicated to helping care for other's pets as a way to fill that part of my void and make extra income. As a collegiate rowing coach, my schedule ebbs and flows depending on the time of year or time of day, but my day typically starts at 6:30am, with some flexibility in the day (if it is planned out in advance) and more availability in the evenings for pet care during the week. On the weekends, when I am not traveling for competition, I am very available and flexible. Because of my own experience with having pets in my home, whether they are officially mine or not, I take the love and care it takes to make a pet the happiest it can be, very seriously. Due to the fact that I wish I could afford to have my own pet, every pet I take care of receives the same level of care I would provide as if it were my own. I would want the same id someone was caring for a pet of mine.

About: I've been a small animal veterinary technician for more than 10 years. My specialty is senior care, including managing cats or dogs with diabetes or kidney disease. I previously had a cat-sitting business when I worked at The Cat Practice in New York City in the mid 1990s. Here in Maine, I have had occasional pet sitting jobs. I am also an experienced horse owner. I am currently working part-time, and can easily fit in visits to your furry friends. I am based out of Gray and will travel within 30-45 minutes of my home. I can also provide over-night care as well. For home visits, I will spend at least 30 minutes with your pet at each visit, if not longer. During that time I will play with them, take them for walks (if canine), or sit quietly if a kitty or older canine prefers. I will feed, ensure they have fresh, clean water, and maintain litter boxes if feline.
“Ashley was great. She was easy to communicate with and took great care of our house and our dogs while we were away for the weekend! We look forward to using her as our dog-sitter again in the future!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Oxford
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 324 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oxford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oxford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oxford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oxford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oxford. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
