Joseph is kind and caring and Edward had a great stay with him! Joseph sent lots of adorable photos and videos of Edward while I was away - so much appreciated! He has a wonderful private yard, great for doggy play, and I loved that Edward could hang out pretty much anywhere he wanted, snoozing on the couch, etc! I highly recommend Joseph and will definitely ask him for care of Edward again! Thank you so much, Joseph!

Amber was an incredible dog sitter! She took such great care of our dog Daisy, and gave us total peace of mind while we were away. We really appreciated the daily updates and photos, and it was clear Daisy was getting spoiled with plenty of walks, love, treats and attention. Amber truly went above and beyond we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! I highly recommend trusting Amber with your pup!

Nieves was amazing! I have always relied on family to watch any dogs I own but I stepped out of my comfort zone and was thoroughly impressed. Murphy and Chloe were so well taken care of by Nieves and her boyfriend. I received photos and video updates throughout their stay. It made being away from them so much easier. They were so loved!! We will be trusting them with our fur babies in the future for sure!!

Thank you Danielle!! Spice and Coco have indicated that they had a great time. We are so thankful to have found you! It made our trip so much easier to go worry free. The girls seemed very relaxed and every picture you sent over our trip, showed how happy they were. Your attitude during the entire stay they had, was over the top. When our return flight was canceled, and it added an extra day to our trip, you again made us feel at ease. Can't thank you enough, and would use you again on our return next summer. Pat, Sue, Spice and Coco.

Kate was a gem and truly saved us when we were in a pinch. My dog had a severe allergy flare up when we were on vacation and was in need of a rest day with some TLC. Kate and family went above and beyond to give him all of the blankets, cuddles, and relaxation he needed while we continued hiking in high humidity and wet conditions. I’m super careful about who cares for Tux and am glad I put my trust in Kate! We made it home without worsening Tux’s allergies, and he’s doing much better now.

Our Loki has been scared to death to stay at other boarders—even the trainer he had, but Jennifer made him feel comfortable and secure while he was there. He snuggled up to her immediately and was loved like he was hers. We will definitely count on her next time we need to board our little guy!

Where do I start! Melissa and Family are truly the BEST Rover experience we have had! EVER! The care Bella received was priceless! The house and grounds are a dog’s paradise!!! And the humans made sure Bella had daily walks in the woods, swim in the pond, chasing squirrels and chipmunks …so much so, Bella ate and slept well. This is a FIRST FOLKS! I was thinking Bella wouldn’t want to come back home she was having such an amazing time. I know Bella will miss her new human friends and Dhooney that is Bella’s newest best fur friend! To sum up… this stay was PAWSOME!

Valerie and her family were so wonderful. We were so bummed to leave our pup for his first Christmas but she made it special for him and welcomed him as part of the family in their gorgeous home. We got regular updates and check ins. He loved romping in the snow with his new best friend, their family yellow lab. We highly recommend Valerie and will be using her again!

Joseph was incredibly communicative and respectful of my Frenchie and his restrictions due to previous injuries. He sent photos and updates during his stay. It’s such a relief to know he was getting attentive care versus being dropped off into a flock at doggy daycare. I think it really helped to know there were other dogs for him to play and cuddle with. 10/10 would recommend.

Every sitter has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

Sitters may also include daily walks in the neighborhood during your dog's boarding stay. You can also request photo and message updates throughout so you can see which local landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Orrington home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
