Ashley took care of our beloved Murphy expertly. She always provided pictures and updates to us. She was also available wherever we needed to talk on the phone. While she house sat and took care of our cat, she also watered all our plants and our home was spotless after our week-long vacation. We would highly recommend Ashley to care for any of your fur babies and home.

About: I’ve grown up with many cats and different types of dog's. I had a dog that was 19 years old and have been self training my current dog since I got him. Im currently a student at Chico State so I have plenty of time after classes and school. I have plenty of time to walk and play with your pets after 2pm on most weekdays. I make sure there’s no way to escape or places that can hurt your pet if it gets in those places. I would make sure to be attentive and make sure I know what they’re up to.

Olivia's care for our house and pets warmed my heart. She's a remarkable and caring person and my dog and two cats were happy and healthy. The dog kept going to the window after Olivia drove away. She went the extra mile without my even asking. She communicated politely, promptly and clearly. I couldn't recommend her any more highly.

About: I’ve been around all kinds of dogs since I was young. I have always loved being around dogs(and cats!), I definitely bond better with animals than humans. I love my mini Australian shepherd, Ollie, with my whole entire heart, and I would love your pets as well💕 I work part time, so I am available pretty much always! The days I work, it is from 5:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. so I would have the rest of the day to hang with your animals! Now that summer is here and school is over, my availability is even more open. I am able to follow any expectations or requests left concerning your pets! I will not be boarding other’s pets in my own home however, I am only available for home stay in overnight situations.

About: I have grown up around animals my entire life and have experience caring for dogs, cats, and small pets. I grew up with a bullmastiff, currently care for two cats, and recently adopted a hamster, so taking care of animals has always been a natural part of my daily life. In addition to caring for my own pets, I have experience with house sitting, Rover pet care, and volunteering at the Humane Society, where I learned the importance of patience, responsibility, and creating a calm and loving environment for animals. What sets me apart is how genuinely much I care about every animal I look after. I understand how important it is for owners to trust the person caring for their pets, so I always prioritize communication, reliability, and making pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I am patient with shy or anxious animals, attentive to routines and instructions, and always make sure pets receive plenty of affection, attention, and care. I am also comfortable with large dog breeds, experienced with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and basic pet care needs, and I always provide photo and message updates so owners can feel confident their pets are in good hands. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and already care for my own pets every day. I am currently home from college for the summer and, while I am looking for a summer job, my schedule is fairly open and flexible right now. This allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to walks, drop-in visits, playtime, feeding schedules, and making sure pets feel comfortable and cared for while their owners are away. I am also very organized and reliable, so I am able to adapt easily to different schedules and pet care needs. 🐾 Growing up with a Bullmastiff, I’ve learned firsthand how to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments with confidence and care. Whether it's a gentle giant or a more energetic pup, I’m skilled at managing pets of every personality! Now, as a proud cat owner, I understand the unique needs of both feline and canine friends. Alongside my own pets, I regularly pet sit in my neighborhood, giving me a wealth of experience with a variety of animals and the trust of my local community. Your pet will be in safe, loving hands with someone who treats every animal like family.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 12 years old. I have experience with dogs who have special needs, specifically, neurological disorders requiring medication administration. I’ve spent the last two years training my dog, Bubba, through separation anxiety and reactive aggression. He went from chasing cats to occasionally taking naps with them. My first dog, Lilly, was reactive to dogs and when I brought home Bubba as a puppy, my family called him “snack” because they didn’t think it was possible, but she immediately took him in and they were inseparable for 7 years! I’ve always been gifted at reading animals - humans, not so much. I will always advocate for those who can’t advocate for themselves :) I’m available every day, whenever you need! I recently quit my job and needed a fun way to get a little extra cash before moving to the PNW! Unfortunately, my dog is an anti-social introvert and doesn’t like visitors. His house, his rules… However, I’m more than happy to care for your pet inside of your home!

About: I’ve owned a dog nearly my whole life, 3 dogs in total. One poodle when I was younger, a shorkie, and a pitbull husky mix I found on the side of the road. I also have around 3-4 years experience in volunteering at animal shelters, doing doggy day outs, summer dog walking and fostering. I care for my dog each day, he’s become apart of me. Everyday I wake up, take him outside so he can run round and relieve himself. Then I fill his food and water bowl, at least 3 times a day to make sure he gets the right nutrition. I take him on walks and play with him alot, he’s love fighting my hand it’s so cute. I treat every pet like my family, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable at all times. I’ll stick as close as I can to their normal routine such as meal, walks, playtime and any special care so their environment feels consistent and safe. In my home your pet will get a calm space with lots of attention and affection. In your home I will respect your space while keeping your pets routine exactly how they’re used it. I will also send videos a pictures throughout the day so you can feel at ease.

Cassy was amazing! From the initial meet-and-greet, it was clear how experienced and caring she is with animals. While I was away, Cassy kept me completely at ease with updates, photos, and prompt communication. My dogs (Ellie, Theo, Delano) instantly warmed up to her and they were treated like royalty. She was also willing and able to accommodate the medical needs of one of my dogs, applying eyedrops several times a day as is needed in their care routine. Needless to say, I came home to happy, relaxed pets! I cannot recommend Cassy enough and I will definitely be booking them again in the future!

FAQs for House Sitting - Orland

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 253 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Orland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Orland. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 85% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
