“We were so lucky to find Nick and Rebecca when I had to find a last minute sitter during our visit to Orcas island. My pup Genghis took to Nick right away - and I could tell he was very well taken care of. Nothing like feeling a peace when I have to leave the little guy behind.”

“Beth was nothing but amazing from start to finish. We were on the island for my wife's work event and she suggested we get a sitter so my son and I could explore the island dog-free for the day. With less than 24 hours notice we found Beth, she responded immediately and confirmed quickly. She asked all of the right questions so you could tell she really cared. My 12 year old son was worried about leaving the dogs, but Beth sent us text updates and posted pics and videos to a Google folder throughout the day. She took them for multiple walks and a hike. They came home happy and tired...they definitely had their best time on the island with Beth. I can't say enough good things, she was fantastic.”

“Roxanne B is fabulous with all the dogs in her care. Our Sara is shy with dogs she doesn't know. Roxanne allowed her the time to say hello to each of the dogs & Sara had a wonderful day. She came home happy & tired.”

“Chelsey was absolutely amazing. She regularly texted with pictures and updates and was quick to put my mind at ease when I found myself missing my little pup. I would 100% recommend Chelsey and will be booking again when I am back in the area.”

“Virginia responded immediately to my request for a booking and was helpful and communicative throughout the process. She is very friendly and pleasant to work with. My 11 year old dog had a great day at her house. He was relaxed and happy when I picked him up. I’m sure he’ll be excited to see Virginia and her family again!”

“I had a last minute change to my booking, and Nicole was an absolute life saver! I couldn’t be more thankful for the flexibility. My dog was super happy and tired when I picked her up! I recommend this booking!!”

“Holly and her family took such great care of our dog, Dottie. I couldn't be happier with the process - from the first message to the meet & greet to the doggy day care date. Communication was clear and easy, and I felt that safety and care were well prioritized. Having that reassurance that your dog is in good hands is honestly priceless. The fact she had a great time with Archie is the cherry on top. Dottie is already passed out sleeping (on the couch - sorry!) from all the fun she had. Will definitely book again. Also thank you for all the photos during the visit! They were very comforting for this anxious dog mom.”

“Hazel had a blast hanging out with Jax! She came home happy, tired, and well cared for. It was clear she had a wonderful time, and we’d definitely trust Virginia with Hazel again!”

“William was a joy to work with. He was very tolerant handling our ever changing scheduling beginning and ending his care of our doggie. We needed a sitter of our dog while we went out on a boat tour for several hours necessary because we were visiting from a community a few hours distant. All became very confusing when the scheduled sitter cancelled at the last moment. William calmed us and managed our concerns with grace. AND, our doggie was very pleased and happy.”

“They are absolutely amazing and gentle. They cared for the needs of my dog and communicated very well with me. It was a last minute booking and they made it work. I highly recommend them!! Thank you again both of you <3”

“I’m the lucky one to have Monica and her boyfriend. She’s such a fantastic caregiver and sent me a lot of photos all day long. It just likes that I am with my fur baby the whole day. Dongdong was relaxed in the pictures and made a new friend. I won’t hesitate to book Monica again.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Orcas
Nick and Rebecca were great! They were responsive to texts and sent me a couple of pupdates while they were watching Peach. They seem to be very accustomed to caring for dogs and made sure they had enough information to make sure my dog was safe and comfortable staying with them.

Marta was very communicative and Phil, too! Fritz had a great time exploring the island with Phil, who took him on walks and a great adventure. They were also very flexible in the meeting point and drop-off/pickup. Thank you for your excellent care (and tips abt the local area).

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in WA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
