“I have no words to describe how happy I am with Heather! Gracie is a large energetic puppy and seemed to take to Heather right away! Heather kept me updated on all the exercise Gracie got as well as all the snuggle time. Gracie was a happy puppy when I got home and my house was immaculate! I will absolutely be asking for Heather again!”

“Laura was absolutely awesome! Laura truly was the best! She took the very beat care of our home and dogs. Our dogs (who are a bit needy and one special needs) had a smooth and seamless transition into her care. She was thought forward, kind, caring, diligent and followed all our dogs care needs and schedule perfectly. She treated our pups and our home as her own and we are so GRATEFUL! We feel so blessed to have met her and to have her care for our beloved dogs. We were very impressed & our dogs were never so calm upon our return ever. She is wonderful and comes highly recommended and we definitely hope to use her again.”

“Kai and Devon did a great job with Sadie. She was relaxed and happy when I got home which is a sign that she enjoyed her night. Will definitely book them again!”

“Mine was perfect on his stay. He got back to us quickly when it was time to book. He was a calm and collected guy, exactly who you want with three dogs ranging in age from 11 years to 8 months. He sent us plenty of pictures and had no problem staying at our house. Our puppies were happy and healthy when we got home and we definitely plan on using him again for any future plans.”

About: Hi,I’m Julia and just retired from my job of 31 years in a Dental office as an assistant.I was looking for something totally different to do with my free time now.I put 50 years because I’ve always been around animals since a young age.We had 2 beagles when I was growing up and after I married went on to have an English Setter,Doberman pinscher and later Chihuahua mix.I have also had cats.I just got done watching a coworkers 2 dogs on March 28th and now going to watch my nieces 3 cats for a week.Which had me think about doing this with others. They will be cared for with love to you get back.Julia I am retired and can be available with a day notice, for just days or overnight in your house.I would need to meet and greet beforehand. I will be watching pets in the clients house where it stays familiar for them.I will follow instructions given in taking care of your pet.
About: I’ve been around dogs all my life and have always loved being around them. Whenever there’s a dog in the room they are the first I greet! 2022 was when I first started pet sitting for others and have since cared for multiple dogs with different personalities, routines, and needs. I currently care for five different dogs regularly, including two that I watch together. Whenever there’s pet sitting, I stay in the owners home to keep their pets comfortable and maintain their normal routine. I make sure each dog gets plenty of love, attention, and playtime while their family is away. I also believe communication is extremely important, so I provide regular updates with photos and videos to help the owners feel connected and reassured while they’re away from their pets. My goal is to make every pet feel loved, safe, and happy until their owners return. I am currently a part-time college student, so I have a lot of time to be able to check on owners pets when needed. My schedule is pretty open besides Wednesdays, but depending on the situation I can sometimes check in on them on Wednesdays. When caring for pets in a clients home, I make it a priority to keep them on their normal routine so they feel comfort and secure while their owners are away. I carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding time, walks, medications, playtime, and any other special needs. Safety is a top priority of mine. I make sure doors, gates, and even leashes are secure, and I pay very close attention to every animals behavior and comfort level. I provide plenty of love, attention, exercise, and companionship while respecting the pet’s individual personality and needs. I also respect the owners privacy by keeping household information private and also respecting their homes. I also try to update the owners as much as possible by providing videos, photos, and messages so they can have a peace of mind knowing their pets are happy and comfortable. My goal is to create an stress-free environment for both the owners and the pets. I want the owners to be able to enjoy their trip and not be stressed, while their pets feel safe and comfortable with me.
“Terry was amazing! She house sat and cared for our 2 Boston Terriers and our Maine Coon cat. I highly recommend her and have full confidence in her. Our pets immediately trusted her and she built a connection with them. Terry sent us videos and texts of our pets and goes the extra mile by washing the bed linens and maintaining cleanliness. everything clean. Thank you Terry from our hearts and will definitely request your services again in the future.”

About: Hello, I’ve been taking care of my dogs for the past 10 years. I have a beagle terrier (Bleu) and a king charles caviler (Milo). Milo is now 3 years old and Bleu is about 10 years old. I’m currently a college student majoring in Biology, so I have a hours an available to help my clients with potty breaks and dog walking. I have a fenced yard. I typically let my dogs out roughly 5 times per day when I am not home. When I am home I let my dogs out whenever it is needed.
About: I have a house where I can provide individual or group care for dogs. I co-own a dog named French Fry, who has been a significant part of my training experience. I am available for boarding on weekends, starting Saturday morning and continuing until either Monday or Tuesday evening. Additionally, I have availability during certain holiday periods. I have a partially fenced-in yard and a metal crate available for dogs if needed. I follow any instructions that pet owners provide. I have a peace and calm environment for dog care.

About: I’ve casually pet sit for friends and family for years. Now that I have more free time, I’d love to take of your cat, dog, or other pet! I have a lot of free time while I’m researching how to become a public school teacher. As I spend some time figuring out my new career, I’d love to help out with your cat, dog, or other pet! I promise to care for your pet as if it were my own. I have experience caring for dogs and cats. I have been babysitting and nannying for years, so I’m very familiar with being left alone in a clients house. I know how to respect someone’s space.
“Jen and Matt are the best! It was our first week away with an in-home sitter. They went above and beyond in every way. They took in the mail and trash cans, brought Ellie special treats, and even fed the fish! We are so grateful for their kindness. Thanks for being accountable. I didn’t worry once the entire trip!”
“We loved having Michaela watch our crew while we were gone! She provided regular updates, and was great handling our pets with special needs. Our house was spotless when we arrived home - we really appreciate the level of care she provided. We will absolutely be hoping to have her back when we travel in the future!”

About: I’ve taken care of neighbors, friends, and family pets, ranging from cats to dogs. I took care of my dog Stella, and she was my best friend. I am available in the mornings and evenings on weekdays and weekends to stop by and take care of/spend time with your fur babies :) My dog Stella was house-trained, but we let her outside to run around and for fresh air. We took her on walks in the park as well.
About: Of course I love animals, but what matters more to me is noticing who your pet actually is. Are they the kind of dog who needs to sniff the same corner for five minutes before moving on? Are they a little shy at first and pretending not to care? Do they get excited easily and need someone calm around them? Are they a cat who wants company, but absolutely not too much company? I really enjoy figuring out those little things. I’m gentle, patient, and very respectful of each pet’s routine. I don’t believe in rushing them or treating every animal the same. Some pets need play and attention, some need slow walks and quiet reassurance, and some just need someone kind nearby so the house does not feel empty. My goal is for your pet to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in a way that still feels familiar to them. I’m also very careful with instructions. Feeding routines, medications, walk preferences, favorite toys, things that scare them, how they like to be greeted, whether they are allowed on the couch. I want to know all of it. I know these details are not “extra.” They are usually the things that make a pet feel secure. I’ll also send updates and photos, not just to say everything is fine, but so you can actually feel connected to them while you are away. My childhood friend and roommate, Matin, may also help me sometimes, and you may see her in some of my photos. She has had pets since childhood and fostered animals for several years, so she is very used to different personalities, nervous pets, affectionate pets, and animals who need a little extra patience. She is calm, loving, and very responsible, and I trust her completely with animals. Between the two of us, your pet will be cared for by people who genuinely like being around animals, but who also understand that trust matters. I’ll treat your pet with warmth, patience, and care, and I’ll treat your home and instructions with respect. This year, much of my work is remote, which gives me real flexibility in my schedule. That means I’m able to spend unrushed, attentive time with pets, not just quick check-ins, but actual companionship, care, and presence. I can shape my day around walks, visits, feeding times, play, and quiet company, depending on what each pet needs. My childhood friend and roommate, Matin, who is included in the pictures, also helps me out with my Rover schedules. My home is my cat Lilo’s safe little kingdom, so I can’t host other pets here. But I’m very happy to come to your home, meet outside for walks, or figure out a setup that feels easy and comfortable for you and your pet.

Erin watched Sonny for me again and was amazing. She was on time, kept Sonny busy which he loves, walked him multiple times, and just over all great. FAQs for House Sitting - Oldmans
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 5,126 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oldmans. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oldmans walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oldmans maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oldmans choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
