“Debi is wonderful!!!! She watched our dog, Sam, while we were away on vacation for an entire week. Debi was great with meeting Sam leading up to the trip and taking great care of him while we were gone. Even better, Sam seemed to absolutely love Debi! I believe were going to be repeat customers. I would highly reccomend Debi's services! She's great!”

“Tammy was an amazing pet sitter. She was super attentive and responsive. She left my house spotless and even washed the sheets for me. She did periodic check ins and sent photos of the pups. I would highly recommend booking Tammy. She is sweet and very caring. I could tell my pups were well taken care of.”

“My two goldens had such a lovely time with Morganne! They got plenty of attention and walks and I received tons of updates and photos. I would encourage any dog owner to have Morganne stay in your home and care for your dogs. She feels like a part of our family !”

“Priscilla did a wonderful job taking care of my dogs. They are very anxious during summer storms and she tried to help them stay calm through every one. Highly recommend her to take care of your four-legged kids!”

“Kylee was so incredible!!! She watched 4 dogs for a whole week and took such good care of them. She was super responsive and gave me updates! It also was super rainy the last few days and with 4 dogs and our yard is super muddy/ floors not good with mud and dog fur, we fully expected to walk into a filthy house but to our surprise the house was spotless. She went above and beyond to make the house look amazing even in the rain! We really appreciate it and will be absolutely be using her again in the future for any needs we have!”

“Emily was great! She came to our camper while we were on vacation for our excursion day. And we felt 100% confident everything would be taken care of after our little meet and greet day. If we were ever back in the Keys we wouldn't hesitate to book again!”

About: Growing up, I've had animals that range from a teeny goldfish to a German Shepherd that was aptly named "Bear". I've been trusted watching not only my family's fur babies, but also those of my friends, neighbors, and anyone else who needs a helping hand. I've been caring for animals my whole life, and started offering animal walking/ sitting services as of 2 years ago. As an owner of two dogs and one cat myself, all with different personalities, I'm confident I can be a sitter you trust! I currently work from home and am available anytime with notice! Whether it's for a quick drop in or an overnight stay, I'm willing to be flexible and help make your busy days easier. I am well experienced in dogs and cats of all behaviors. Whether they are couch potatoes or feisty, I treat every animal with respect and care. I can crate animals, provide shots/pills, and make sure any other of their needs are met to keep them safe.
“Melissa was such a gem!! We were so nervous leaving our boy while we flew to a wedding across the country and she made sure to send lots of pics and updates to help. Our boy is a stage 5 clinger (70 pound boxer) and we could tell she treated him with as much love as we do, with plenty of trips to the park, cuddles, and walks. Will definitely be booking her for any future trips!”

About: Growing up my household was always blessed with multiple animals. Some of my best childhood memories revolved around my dogs. I had a German Shepherd, a border collie, a Rottweiler, and a couple of rescue pups. My childhood gave me an appreciation for the intelligence and love that dogs can show. I'll admit large bois hold a special place in my heart but there's room for all sizes! I currently work part-time as Coach in fitness. I teach classes early morning 5-9 and late in the evening 3-8, So I am available outside of those classes. I am generally completely available during the weekends! I am very active, I have a lots of stamina and strength to keep up with the pups! I am also very health conscious :)
About: I’ve been caring for dogs for many years and have experience with both large and small breeds. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy, patient, and attentive to your pet’s needs. I am comfortable with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, administering basic medications, and providing lots of love and companionship. I have experience caring for energetic dogs, senior dogs, and pets that require extra attention. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and comfortable while you’re away, and I’ll treat them like part of my own family. I’m available to take care of your pups on weekends. I can also provide house sitting on weekends and throughout the week. Additionally, I can take your pup on a 30 minute walk through the day. To provide safety while staying in a client’s home, I keep doors and windows locked, follow all care instructions, maintain the home’s security, monitor the pets closely, and immediately report any emergencies or concerns to the owner.
About: Pets are family, and I understand how much trust it takes to place their safety and well-being in someone else’s hands. My dog is my everything, and he has his own unique quirks and special accommodations, so I know firsthand that pet care is never one-size-fits-all. I will take the time to learn your pet’s personality, routine, preferences, and individual needs while carefully listening to your requests. My goal is to care for your pet the way you would, whether that means extra patience, a favorite walking route, a specific feeding routine, special accommodations, or plenty of cuddles and reassurance! I will treat your pet like one of my own and provide warm, attentive care that helps both you and your pet feel safe, comfortable, and at ease. I work full time during the week, so pet care fits best into my evenings and weekends, when I can be fully present and give each pet the attention they deserve. I’m available for weekend walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays, and I plan my schedule carefully so I never overcommit. Caring for my own dog is already an important part of my daily routine, so walks, feeding schedules, playtime, and plenty of love come naturally to me! I provide care exclusively in my clients’ homes, where pets can remain comfortable in their familiar surroundings and maintain their normal routines. I take time to understand each pet’s feeding schedule, walking routine, personality, favorite activities, and any special instructions or accommodations they may need. I will treat your home with respect and care for your pet as closely as possible to the way you would. This includes providing meals and fresh water, walks, playtime, companionship, bathroom breaks, and plenty of affection based on your pet’s individual preferences. I’ll also send regular photos and updates so you can feel confident that your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away!
“I literally can’t say enough about Heather. I had to go to CA for a doctor’s appt and had to be gone for a week and right before I left, my dog became really sick and needed IV for 3 days. Heather didn’t hesitate. She went above and beyond and took Maggie to the vet to make sure she got exactly the care that she needed. I wouldn’t have left my dog period, but I had that much faith in Heather and the doctor’s appt was beyond a need for me.”

“Tatiana was an amazing sitter for all our fur babies. She treated them as her own and spoiled them lots. We got many pictures of the pets which gave us the warm and fuzzy they were good in her care. She kept our house clean/ in order and we'd gladly hire her again!”

“Tim is awesome! I’ve used many sitters through Rover and Tim is the best! This is the 2nd time he has watched my 4 dogs and chickens at my house. He feeds them and spends a great deal of time with them. He also goes above and beyond by sweeping my floors and washing the bedding in my guest bedroom he slept in. It’s nice going on vacation and not having to worry. It’s also great coming home from vacation to happy dogs and a clean house.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Okatie walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Okatie maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Okatie choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Okatie. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
