About: I LOVE animals, especially dogs. I have always been the go to person for family and friends when it came to needing assistance with their pets while they were gone. I currently volunteer at a sanctuary farm and would just love to continue supporting people and pets. I am in the military, therefore i have a funky schedule. I have two days on, two days off, and sliding weekends meaning one week i am off fri, sat, sun. I do not have any kids or other pets currently! I take care of many dogs and cats as well as farm animals at a sanctuary farm but none are kept in my home.
“Susan was so loving and sweet with my Rosie! She has plenty of walks and she went out of her way to make sure Rosie ate her food. I will absolutely have her watch my dog again in the future and recommend her.”

“I recently had Judy care for my French Bulldog, Betsy, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience! She was professional and attentive. And kept me updated with photos and messages. I could tell that Betsy had an amazing time during her stay. I highly recommend Judy’s services for anyone looking for a reliable, loving dog sitter. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

About: I have had dogs for most of my life. I currently have a 4 year old golden doodle who I got as a puppy and is a very important part of my family. I work from home most of the time, so I get to spend a lot of time with my dog -- playing and going for walks. I am very attentive to my dog. While my yard is not fenced in, safety is a top priority. My dog doesn't leave the house without bring on a leash. I also make certain he is safe on our walks when we're around cars.
“Smitha was very friendly from the start and jingles had no issue feeling safe the minute we dropped him. We were given frequent updates via photos and comments during the stay. Jingles seemed really happy and enjoyed the playtime in their yard. We will be connect with Smitha in the near future for Jingles boarding.”

About: Hi all! I am interested in doing some petsitting to find some dog friends for my pup. I am not a full-time dog sitter, however, I'd like to find some more dogs that my dog will play with & hopefully build some puppy friendships. I live in Leesburg and WFH. I work from home & my dog is cage free all day. We usually do a longer walk in the mornings (between 6-7am) and play outside when it's cooler, then a short walk around lunch time, and another walk around sunset. Bedtime is around 9:30 in our house. Ideally I'd like to find other low-medium energy dogs that play well with my dog and can be trusted to free roam/play around my townhouse while I work. We go out for lunch time play around the neighborhood so good leash manners is a must.
“Kevin and his family have taken great care of my dog, Moose! Moose is always super excited when getting dropped off and he loves play time with his friend Diego. I feel very at ease leaving Moose in the care of Kevin & his family and I highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy dogsitter!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs many years, I love spending time with my furry friends. Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me for feeding, walks, playtime, and overnight stays. I send photo updates, follow your instructions exactly, and keep your pet’s schedule consistent so they stay relaxed while you’re away. I work from home most days, which means pets in my care are rarely alone. Walks, feeding, and play sessions fit naturally into my day, and I stick closely to whatever routine your pet already knows. I have open availability for drop-in visits and house sitting throughout the week, including evenings. Your pet’s safety comes first. I keep dogs leashed at all times outdoors unless in a secure fenced area, double-check doors and gates, and follow your feeding and medication instructions to the letter. In your home, I respect your space, keep things tidy, and send regular photo and video updates so you always know how your pet is doing
About: Hi! I’m a work-from-home mom of three amazing boys, and caring for animals has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up on a farm, so being around animals wasn’t just a hobby — it was a way of life. I’ve owned pets my entire life and have also fostered many dogs over the years, so my boys have grown up learning how to properly handle, respect, and love animals. We recently lost our sweet dog last year and are taking a little break from owning one, but our home feels happiest with paws around. Dog sitting allows us to share that love while giving your pup the attention and care they deserve. Because I work from home full time, your dog will rarely be alone and will get plenty of supervision, affection, and companionship throughout the day. We have a large single-family home with lots of space to relax. There’s a large fenced backyard for safe outdoor time, as well as a spacious front yard — but please know your dog will never be outside unsupervised. In our home, dogs are family. They’re welcome on the couch and even in the bed for snuggles at night if that’s what they’re used to. My boys love giving extra attention, playtime, and belly rubs — always guided by what your dog is comfortable with. Our family truly adores and respects animals, and we will care for your dog as if they were our own — with patience, structure, affection, and lots of love. I’d love to meet you and your pup! Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine since I work from home full time. I’m home throughout the day, which allows me to provide consistent supervision, companionship, and regular potty breaks as often as needed. Your dog won’t be left alone for long stretches. We go on at least one walk every day, and I’m happy to adjust the length or pace depending on your dog’s age and energy level. In addition to walks, I incorporate outdoor time, playtime, and plenty of affection into the day. Because I’m already on a steady home schedule, it’s easy for me to maintain feeding times, medication schedules, and any specific routines your dog is used to. When pets stay in my home, they become part of our daily routine and are treated like family. Because I work from home full time, I’m able to provide constant supervision, regular potty breaks, and lots of attention throughout the day. Dogs have access to our large fenced backyard (always supervised) and enjoy at least one daily walk, along with playtime and snuggles. They’re welcome on the couch and even in bed if that’s what they’re used to. I stick closely to each dog’s normal feeding schedule, exercise routine, and any special instructions to help them feel comfortable and secure. My goal is always the same: to provide safe, loving, reliable care so both you and your pet feel completely at ease.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
