“Kathryn was wonderful with our little Sheltie. Very patient while our Sheltie warmed up to a new person. Over the 3-night stay, Kathryn sent multiple pictures and status reports, which we loved!”

“Debbie was great. She handled everything professionally, asked great questions, and even had some suggestions. Good communication leading up to and during our trip. We would use her again.”

“Lyra was kind, soft spoken, reliable, friendly and took great care of our big boy. She stayed with in at our home and left our house as clean as she found it. We highly recommend her!”

“A wonderfully relaxed and stress-free experience! It was great to not have to worry about the cat and the house while we were out of town. Myrna was absolutely terrific, thanks so much!”

“Maddy was great with watching my home and 3 dogs! I found Maddy to be kind, communicative and thoughtful in how she treated my pups. I recommend her and will be using her again in the future for my pet sitting needs!”

“Aidan did a wonderful job caring for our two goldens and house while we were away for a week. He communicated consistently, sent regular photo updates, followed routines for our pups, and kept our home neat and well cared for. When we returned, our dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly tired from having so much fun and attention during the week. It was such a relief to know they were in good hands while we were away. We would absolutely book Aidan again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“We really like Allison. We felt comfortable with her quickly when we met, and she arrived early the day we left. She communicated with us daily while we were away with updates and pictures. By the last day of our 4-day trip our Boop was completely smitten with her.”

“Selena was awesome with my dogs and cat. She accepted the booking on short notice and was on time and professional. She provided great care for them and went above and beyond. Would highly recommend and will utilize her services again. You should ask her how helpful she is around the house! 😁”

“Maren was communicative, thorough and most importantly: loving with our pups! Daily photos/videos along with text updates ensured our time away from home was not clouded with stress and worry. I will be enthusiastically recommending her to all of our friends & family!!”

“For those of you that think of your pets as children, this review will hopefully put you at ease when considering Kaylie for your care needs. I have two giant, “not entry level” Great Danes that I needed to find care for and had never used a pet sitting service prior to Kaylie. Looking through several people, no feeling confident, and ready to just cancel my trip, I came across Kaylie’s profile. She immediately put me at ease leaving my boys with her, and I could not have had a better experience. I was updated all the time, she sent beautiful pictures of them that I can’t even capture myself, and even brought over her own toys and treats for them to keep. My parents’ golden was also with her and leaves his weight in hair each day on the floor, and she was even kind enough to vacuum and clean for me before I got home so I had a clean house to come home to. In other words, she want above and beyond, and I feel so great knowing I have a trustworthy person I can count on when I need the help. I can’t say enough great things about her. She knows her stuff (again, I don’t have easy dogs) and I highly, highly recommend her. It is very clear that my dogs absolutely adored her too by the video and pictures she sent. Thank you Kaylie for the wonderful experience, and I am a repeat customer forever.”

“Bryanna was absolutely wonderful with our fur babies! We got updates regularly and lots of photos. We really appreciated that she asked questions when needed instead of assuming or winging it, and she really put the needs of our pets first. We feel confident leaving the fur babies in her hands and we will be rebooking with her very soon!”

“Chris was an excellent pup sitter for our black lab. We were nervous to leave our boy and it was our first time having a stranger in our home to care for him. Chris was kind and patient with Cayde and gave us frequent updates on how things were going. Chris put us at ease and left the home as he found it. We'd definitely have him return for future in-home pet sitting!!”

“Sarah stayed at our farm watching everything from emus, chickens and turkeys to dogs and goats. She did a fantastic job. Our house was extremely well respected and our dogs didn’t miss us one bit 😂 100000% recommend her for all of your needs. Thank you, Sarah!”

“Absolutely perfect. Erica is extremely personable and professional. She unobtrusively kept in touch with us throughout her stay in our home with our dog so that we were able to leave our separation anxiety dog without worry, which truly is a blessing as anyone with a dog like ours can understand. Erica asked in advance if her daughter could accompany her, and we said yes, and we are glad we did: what a sweetheart and clearly an animal lover who instantly connected with our dog. We hope to have Erica and her daughter house sit with our dog again, possibly for multiple days. As much as we love our dog and our home would not be the same without him, it is so nice that my wife and I have found a caring and trustworthy person so that we can start planning some alone time at a nice restaurant, show and hotel stay downtown overnight, or on a multi-day adventure somewhere fun. We are grateful to have found such a great sitter.”

“Erin was great with Lily and Willow while we were away. She accommodated our unexpected travel schedule and checked in to give us comfort while gone. Willow hads allergy-related paw issues and she addressed them as instructed and also noted how it progressed or lessened. Both our girls loved her and we'd have her back in a heartbeat. She watched them in our home, and the house was tidy and well cared for. Thank you, Erin!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 4,176 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oaklawn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oaklawn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oaklawn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oaklawn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oaklawn. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
