“Great care-my cat is pretty shy but she took care of both him and took the time to check on my home as well. Even checked on my plants and made sure to note any potential health issues.”

“Kelly was so sweet and so good with our dog. She watched him for a couple drop ins last minute after our sitter cancelled. She was always either on time or early, stayed later than expected to, sent great pictures and gave us updates! I highly recommend Kelly!”

“Laralyn took great care of my puppy! She is very sweet and made sure my puppy had a fun time! She also corrected her when it was necessary. I would definitely book with her again!”

“Thomye took great care of both of our cats, even the one who is basically a spicy indoor feral. She kept us updated on how they were doing and sent lots of pictures. She's the perfect pet sitter!”

About: I grew up a dog lover, and when I moved into an apartment, I became a certified cat person. I have 2 cats of my own that get so stressed out when I go on trips and don't bring them! So I really understand the importance of going above and beyond to play with your pets and keep them company. I am working a full time job that changes hours seasonally. Right now I am available anytime on Monday and Tuesday, and before noon the rest of the week. I am totally comfortable sending pictures and videos of your pets while I’m visiting! We can discuss any other house sitting tasks you would like done, but rest assured and hairballs or other messes will be cleaned!
“Hanna is the best. Sweet, kind and trustworthy, we feel secure when leaving our cats under her care. She’s a wonderful communicator and we trust her above any other sitter. Book Hanna! You won’t regret it, I promise.”

About: I grew up with 3 animals, I had a rat terrier who lived until she was 15 so I am able to take care of elderly dogs and german shepherd. I currently have a male puppy german shepherd, although I am not certified at training I was able to potty train my puppy and teach him to sit and stay until my command. I am currently a full time student, I have classes from 9:30am-4pm, so any time before and after that I am available. On weekends I’m more flexible. I can crate your dog if needed, I will watch the dog constantly and make sure he/she is fed and has water, while also playing with him/her and making sure they use the bathroom.
“Bethany is a LIFE SAVER‼️ We were looking for help last minute and she accommodated us so quickly and professionally. She truly cares about our babies (two Siberian huskies), gets their exercise in & shows them all the love. We 100% trust her with them and our home. People like her are hard to find. She is now our go-to-gal for helping us with our dogs! We are so lucky we found her.”

“This was our first time working with Alicia, but she came highly recommended, and we can see why! She's a gold-star level communicator, super-responsive, and took care of our cat, even with our driveway covered in a couple of feet of snow!!! We're so grateful for Alicia's commitment to pet care.”

About: Ive always had pets growing up my whole life, I started watching other people’s pets my last year of high school. I love all animals and I care for them like they are my own. I know how difficult it can be to leave your pet behind when going on vacation, work calls, etc. which is why I keep all owners updated and informed on how their fur babies are doing. I currently work a 9-5, M-F. However my boyfriend gets off work at 3. Which is why I have my availability set to the weekends. I am not opposed to weekdays I just want to be up front about my schedule. I live on a half acre but we are out in the country surrounded by open fields. Therefore we have plenty of room to run, walk, and play, I also have two dogs myself to keep yours company and play! I do crate my own dogs when I leave the house because we have an open pantry and we’ve had trips to the vet because of things being eaten that should not have been… Therefore I prefer to crate dogs when I leave the house.
“Bethanie did a wonderful job taking care of our 4 kitties, fish and even watering my plants for me while I was out of the country for two weeks. She was very conscientious, caring, and sent photos promptly. I would be happy to book her again in the future!”

About: I usually stick to my long-term clients but just recently chose to sign up on Rover. I’ve taken care of and watched dogs my whole life. Growing up around multiple sized animals helped me with being comfortable around all sorts of sizes and breeds. As well as cats. Feel free to check out my Facebook: Abrielle Sara Harrell If it’s a flexible schedule around my summer hourly job then it’ll be perfect. I can visit dogs in the morning, during break if possible, and during late evenings and even stay with them if needed. I give the pets play time and rest time. Keep them on an easy schedule based on what they’re up for. I can walk them and play with them. I’m also fine leaving them alone if that’s what they want.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
