About: My mom was a vet tech growing up and I have been around dogs of all sizes my whole life. I was raised in a home where every dog deserves a chance, no matter their health or their behavior and it has carried over with me into adulthood. Whether it is doggy day care, house sitting, or in-home boarding, I have experience in doing them all. I am local to parks, and I have a nice sized back yard that is perfect for playtime. I can tend to whatever the dogs may need energy level wise. I also enjoy walking all dogs when I exercise. Once play time is over, we have plenty of space in the house for relaxing and sleeping. I am home most of the time, so the dogs won’t be stuck alone for hours on end. I work from home, so there will not be much of a time that the dogs will be alone. I can cater to whatever the dogs need. I do prefer a crate trained dog for if/when I do leave the home for safety for both my home and the dog itself. The back yard is a huge hit for the dogs when I dog sit them. I am able to separate dogs if I have multiple, if needed. We have plenty of trails to walk, a local park with a walking track. Dogs are allowed on furniture. I have plenty of bones, toys, blankets, and anything to make your dog happy and comfortable.

Victoria was amazing! I can’t say enough about her! One of my dogs is really scary and he doesn’t deal with anyone, she was able to make him feel comfortable! No accidents in the house, Victoria made sure they went out on a timely schedule. Also the house was left in immaculate shape! She cleaned up behind herself and the house was just as I left it, I would definitely book her again and will be booking in the future! She made sure to send pictures and updates! I felt safe leaving my house to her! Thank you Victoria! You were amazing.

About: I have had pets all my life and currently have 3 cats. I’ve volunteered at a dog park during high school, as well as fostering dogs. I care for my own pets by scooping their litter boxes, trimming their claws, and feeding them morning, mid-day, and night. Giving them overall care and attention. I treat all animals I come across with an abominable amount of love and respect, I will always try my best to make sure any animal is taken care of and appreciated.

About: I’ve been a dog mom for over 20 years and lost my sweet rescued shepherd collie mix, Roxie, 12 years ago. Since then I’ve found comfort in caring for and loving other people’s dogs. Dogs are the best! I’m currently unemployed, so I have lots of time and attention to devote to your pets. I’m available most days of the week, nights and days. I have a small home where your dog will feel cozy and comfortable, with 126 acres of woodland, a dog park, and rail trail to walk and play on.

About: I have cared for many of my own pets over the years! I have a passion for helping animals, all of the pets I have owned have been rescues of some kind. I look forward to taking care of your pets and having fun with them. Most of the time we truly don’t deserve their unwavering love, but taking care of them is very important! I have experience with dogs of many sizes and breeds. I volunteer for dog walks at a local shelter every chance I get, and I look forward to playing with and taking your animals outside! I am most experienced with dogs, but love pets of all kinds. Also I think it is very important to respect the animals space and home 😊

About: I’ve dog sat a lot for family, friends, and even friends of my family. I’ve watched all different sizes and breeds from Husky’s and Pit mixes to Teacup Chihuahuas. I’ve mainly just done stop by feedings and overnight sitting. Since it’s summer I’m free for the most part since I don’t have college classes but I do have quite a bit of concerts and beach trips but I keep my availability updated very frequently. I currently have a part time job in Greensboro Tuesday-Saturday 4am-9am so I’d be happy to come right after I get off work I can stop by your home when available to feed, let potty, or even get a little energy out. At my house my dog is very lazy so we usually just hangout in my bed all day but when she decides she wants to play I take her outside with her ball or throw it down the hallway.

About: My senior dog is 13+ years old now (I've had him since 2015) and whenever friends and family needed pet sitting/drop-in visits/walks they came to me, I have also owned a cat and am caring for a cat currently. I would like to start building up an actual professional client base/reputation if you're willing to give me a shot! I'm mostly available on the weekends for in-house pet sitting or otherwise. For weekdays, I work 8am-5pm M/T/Th/F, and 1pm-10pm on Wednesdays, so it's a bit more difficult unless you just need me to drop in or walk your pet :) I'll take care of your pets however you want me to, we have a very needy Bengal and my senior dog so I'm used to dealing with pets with extra needs.

We cannot say enough great things about Blanca. She cared for our home and dogs for three and half days and did an amazing job! We came home to a clean house, clean dogs, and she even worked on some training with them!! They had her full undivided attention the entire time and were so spoiled with cuddles, long walks, and playtime! We would recommend her 100 times over and will definitely be using her in the future! Thank you so much, Blanca!

Kim is a wonderful sitter, and we were very comfortable leaving our pups with her. Our dogs each have their own behavioral quirks, and she wasn’t fazed as at. She communicated really well while we were out of town and our dogs were happy and healthy when we got back. Thanks Kim!

Emily and Taylor were fantastic!! We searched for some time to find the perfect match to come and house sit/dog sit for our German Shepherds and now we have found it with them!!! We have one that is a senior and one that can be anxious- so it has to be a good fit all the way around- they came out and solid two visits prior to the actual weekend house sit. They showed up on time for the visit; communicated throughout the weekend; sent us pictures; and asked questions for clarification before the visit and during if needed. Their personalities are great for our dogs who warmed up to them ASAP; they took fantastic care of them as well as of our house. We will continue to use them in the future and highly recommend them to others.

Meghan interacted with Fendi beautifully. There was a scheduling conflict due to Meghan's other appointment obligations, causing Meghan to arrive several hours later than expected. A call would have been appreciated; however, she did not want to leave the other dogs unattended as well. After we spoke, Megan came as quickly as she could and took excellent care of Fendi. She sent lots of videos and pictures and gave Fendi lots of love. She was extremely apologetic and even refunded some of the additional cost. Fendi interacted well with Megan and when I returned back home it was evident Fendi was establishing a bond. The house was well taken care of and Meghan adhered to all the specific directions given that Fendi is a service animal. She played with her and gave Fendi the special attention needed to allow us to enjoy our trip with less worry. Meghan is mature and took on this assignment at the last minute, reducing my stress of being worried. This is the first time I have ever left Fendi with (3) different individuals with rotating times since I was going to be away for nearly a week. Meghan came through for us and I appreciate her willingness to make this transition of being away more accommodating. Her interaction with Fendi is why I will certainly call upon her again. She showed love and kindness to Fendi and that is priceless.

He projects kindness and gentleness and obviously has a heart for animals. He is smart and resourceful. We will request his services again.

FAQs for House Sitting - New Market

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in New Market on Rover is $28.86 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 801 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Market. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Market walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Market maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Market choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Market. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
