Alexis was wonderful: very communicative, flexible, thorough, and punctual. She did a great job dropping in our two cats for a few days, and we especially loved that she took time to give the cats affectionate attention and to send us photos with every visit. Highly recommend, no complaints, and hope to book Alexis again!

About: Being around dogs has been the foundation of my life since the age of 3. From caring for my own pets, helping our neighbor who bred collies, and caring for dogs while also caring for my patients at work as a home health occupational therapist, I feel like every pet is part of my family. My heart is full around any four legged friend and I strive to care for them, show them the deepest love, and teach them as I do my own children. It’s in my blood! I currently work as a home health OT with a flexible schedule during the day. I also have windows of time during the evenings and weekends to care for any pet. Teaching my sons responsibility and skills required to care well for animals are just an added bonus! I own my home with a large yard in the rear of the home. I’m also able to provide in-home boarding as I do not currently have a pet in the home. I also am able to offer drop-in services to address any home needs (mail, plant care, shoveling or vacation mowing), dog-walking, and light housework. Additional services like dog-walking upon request- let’s make your time away painless without concern at home.

About: Hi! I’m Jess 😊 I’ve always had a natural, intuitive connection with animals and tend to pick up on their moods and needs quickly—even when they’re shy, anxious, or not as expressive. Because of that, animals usually warm up to me fast and feel safe in my presence. I currently have three cats of my own, including one with special needs, so I understand how important it is to have someone patient, attentive, and truly tuned in caring for your pets. I don’t just follow instructions—I pay attention to how your pet is feeling, and adjust my care to make sure they’re comfortable, relaxed, and supported. For certain bookings, my fiancé Rob may assist me as a second set of hands. He’s great with animals and helps provide extra support, especially for multi-pet households or longer stays. I am always the primary caregiver, but having that extra support allows me to give even more attentive, consistent care. ⭐ What Makes Me Different ✨ Intuitive, Empathic Care I naturally tune into animals’ behavior, comfort levels, and energy. This helps me: -Recognize stress or anxiety early -Adjust my approach based on their personality -Build trust quickly, especially with shy or sensitive pets ✔️ Personalized Care Plan Before each booking, you’ll complete a quick form so I can fully understand your pet’s routine, preferences, and any special needs. ✔️ Structured, Professional Experience I provide a welcome guide, clear expectations, and consistent communication so everything feels smooth and stress-free. I also provide a simple care form before bookings so I can fully understand your pet’s routine and preferences. ✔️ Consistent Updates You’ll receive regular updates with photos so you always know how your pet is doing. Each visit includes updates with photos so you always know how your pet is doing. ✔️ Extra Support When Needed For certain bookings, my fiancé Rob may assist as a second set of hands. He’s great with animals and helps provide extra support, especially for multi-pet households or longer stays. I am always the primary caregiver and will always communicate in advance if he will be present. 🐾 Experience I’ve cared for: -Cats (including multi-cat households) -Dogs of all sizes and personalities -Pets with medical needs, sensitivities, and unique routines Some of my experience includes: -A blind pug with dietary restrictions -Cats with litter box sensitivities and behavioral quirks -Anxious or slow-to-warm-up pets I take the time to understand who they are, not just what they need. 🏡 House Sitting When staying in your home, I focus on keeping your pet’s environment calm, familiar, and low-stress. This is especially important for pets who: -Experience separation anxiety -Are sensitive to change -Need consistency and emotional comfort Having Rob as occasional support also allows for more flexibility and coverage when needed. 🚪 Drop-In Visits Each visit isn’t just about completing tasks—it’s about checking in on your pet’s overall well-being. I pay attention to: -Behavior changes -Energy levels -Comfort and mood So nothing gets overlooked. 🐾 My Goal To create an environment where your pet feels safe, understood, and cared for—and where you feel completely at ease knowing they’re in good hands. I work full-time remotely, which gives me a lot of flexibility throughout the day. If Wi-Fi is available, I’m often able to stay with your pet while I work, so they’re not left alone for long periods. I’m able to take breaks for walks, feeding, playtime, and check-ins, and I do my best to stick closely to your pet’s normal routine. My schedule is consistent, and I’m always happy to communicate ahead of time to make sure it’s a great fit for your pet’s needs. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are my top priorities. I pay close attention to behavior, energy levels, and needs, and I follow all instructions carefully—whether that’s feeding schedules, medications, or specific preferences. I’m very detail-oriented and make sure everything is done the way you want, so your pet experiences as little disruption as possible. In your home, I’m respectful of your space and committed to keeping your pet’s environment calm, consistent, and secure. I’m also mindful of safety during walks and daily care. I provide regular updates and photos so you always feel confident and at ease while you’re away.

About: I have experience working with very energetic to slower more relaxed dogs/cats. I have an older beagle as well as a younger pit/lab mix at home. Starting in high school I would sit for family and friends, then in 2022 started working for Rover. I have experience giving medication and daily supplements as well as making sure your dog/cat gets plenty of playtime and attention. I’m currently working full-time, most of the time working 7-3 but in the winter working 4a-12p. After work I will be able to spend the rest of the evening/night with your dog/cat as well as the weekend. I will be able to give potty brakes, specific feeding schedule, play time, over night stays, or whatever your dog/cat needs to feel comfortable while you are away.

About: My name is Leah. I am a Registered Nurse and I’ve had dogs my whole life! I grew up with them and, as an adult, have owned three dogs of my own — two with special needs. Caring for them taught me patience and responsibility. I always aim to keep their safety and happiness my top priority. I currently work part-time and volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center. My schedule is very flexible at the moment, and I am generally available during the day Tuesday through Sunday. Please note that weekend availability may vary based on personal commitments, and my weekday availability may change in the future as my work schedule evolves. I aim to provide attentive, reliable care in a safe and calm environment, whether in your home or on walks. I follow your instructions carefully, make sure pets are secure at all times, and keep a close eye on their behavior and well-being. My goal is to make every visit or walk enjoyable, stress-free, and tailored to each dog’s personality and needs.

About: I was raised around animals, including horses and a beagle kennel. Then, I had a sweet chihuahua for 13 years that I raised and trained from a puppy. I really do love all animals, and timid cats usually take a liking to me. I’m currently working part time, so pet care fits in to my daily schedule very well. I’m flexible with availability and commute, and read care instructions carefully. I have a two story house with a unfenced backyard that I can watch small to medium sized pets. When going to client’s home, I follow care instructions very closely and provide lots of love and attention for the fur babies.

About: I have extensive experience with a wide variety of dog breeds. I have been a veterinary technician for 9 years. I also foster for a local rescue and have pets of my own. Dogs all have unique temperaments and personalities which is what makes caring for them so much fun! I am currently employed, but looking for a change of pace. I will never accept a job for care that would conflict with my schedule. Your pets are the priority for me. Keeping your pet on a routine as close to the one you have for them is my ultimate goal. It can be stressful for them and for you to be apart. The more stability I can provide, the happier they will be.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 1,656 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across New Derry. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a New Derry stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Derry. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
